Hi!! I thought I would let you all know. We came to an agreement. We split the remaining amount of shipping. So I only paid an additonal $16 shipping. Im happy shes happy. So my total came to 89.5 yards of Michael Miller, Robert Kaufman, Moda ext. for $3.80 a yard including shipping.

Melanie

That sounds like a fair arrangement. I bet she thinks a bit more before she offers free shipping in the future.

BTW - I'd love to know the name of the seller if you wouldn't mind PMing me. Not that I need fabric but I'm always interested in a good deal.

I just did the bow myself- Im left handed and its not as easy as it looks!
The bow came out perfect on my second try though.

Ugh- just got an email, woman has 12 dogs, her husband walked out in Dec with 9yr old daughter, she has 91 yr old Mother to care for. Has to give up her dogs. She has 3 labs we'll be taking, no vaccinations, and I believe we will have to get them spayed too. She needs them to go asap, because she can barely afford dog food for them.
Another is giving up 10yr old lab- I forget reason why.

LovesDumbo- meant to tell you I love the Buzz and Nemo outfits!!!!!!

and the boys shirt- Logan was it? Really cute.
Are those hard to do? I want to do one for DH.

Really 12 dogs? My one dog, Oscar is driving me nuts this last week because he has gotten too spoiled! He thinks he deserves a bone every time he goes outside! Not in my budget big boy! For those of you who didn't see my pictures of Oscar he is in the photobucket somewhere, but he is my 240 pound English Mastiff who thinks he is a lap dog! Crazy boy! His bones are about $4.00 a piece so to get one a day would break my budget (and his waist line!). So now he barks like crazy when he goes outside for one and cries when he comes inside. Spoiled dog! When he gets one he is happy for about 2 days and then we start again! I cannot imagine 12 dogs! Yikes!

We are going to Disney for Megan's birthday: May 24th-May 26th. I just called to see if anything princess was open for her birthday. We are going to do the Princess Storybook lunch in Norway and Wonderland Tea Party. So I need Alice ideas! I am not sure if I want to do a walmart bag sleeve dress but I do need to do something.

And, (shameless plug) I updated my trip report!

ETA- The two Alice Dress pictures were taken 8 months apart. I cannot believe how older she looks now. :(

I have to say this thread has taken a beginner sewer and turned me into a sewing phene!!!

Well, the party was yesterday. I think it went pretty well. My neighbor who has 3 little girls- ages 6,4 and 3, is pregnant again- 8 weeks. THe husband wants a boy in the worst way. LOL. However, he is in the air force and he's gone for big chunks of time. Right now he's training in TX-learning to fly a new cargo plane, gone for 3 months, but back for occassional weekends. Anyway, their daughters- while always adorable dresses, are not always the best behaved.- ex.- when we started to open presents these girls just swarmed- they wanted to open them!!! -hands already pulling at tissue paper in gift bags and stuff- OH MY!!!
DH said he was shocked and just didnt know what to say. I just said, "thats okay, I'm going to help her open her presents, could girls step back a bit, ooh, maybe you could sit down and watch? Oh THANK YOU!" But they were hovering right on the invisable line-the only thing I felt bad over was they kept trying to take Megan's toys from her- in a coy way "Would you like me to take care of your baby for you?" and her shy 2.5yr old cousin gave her a My Little Pony Birthday set (which she promptly threw on the ground- UGH! why- I felt bad for my little neice who picked the pony out)I scolded DD and then I was selecting the next gift to open and talking to someon so missed this- but apparently DD had the pony set in her hands and the oldest girl asked "Would you like for me to open that for you" and Megan- who says yes to everything let her have it. I didnt find all the peices until after they left. And I saw her little cousins lip slowly pout out, now I knw why- she picked out that gift for her. I feel really bad. DH saw it- AND her parents were sitting right there. ...sigh....

That stinks about the presents. I am just too bossy to put up with that sort of thing, so I avoid it by going the "East Coast" route of not opening gifts at the party. It cuts down on stress. Just reading that had me mentally parenting those children. I wouldn't have been nearly as nice as you were about it! I'd have smacked them all around with an eyebrow arch and told every child at the party that the only person opening gifts today would be the birthday girl. Period. I'd have moved every kid back about five feet, told them that if they cross the invisible line it would give them an electric SHOCK!! ;)

I also would have very deliberately collected each present and put it away so that little stinkers with no respect for other people's things wouldn't get the chance to get their hands on anything!

see. bossy. That's me.

you were very nice and diplomatic. I envy that ability!:goodvibes

YAY for Megan!!! A birthday at Disney is my kind of Birthday!!! I can't wait to see the outfits!!! She will be a darling Alice!! I wanted to do the Tea party with Sally, but I think she's gone and gotten to big for it!

Alice is my favorite. I have done a couple of Alice things.

ETA- The two Alice Dress pictures were taken 8 months apart. I cannot believe how older she looks now. :(

You are SO stinkin talented!!! LOVE the outfits!!!:thumbsup2

I LOVE all those Alice themed dresses- especially the cheshire cat!
Sometimes I get sewer's envy. I KNOW I have several disney fabrics in my closet waiting to be washed and pressed and cut into something magical. But Im on HERE everyday so I always want "Ooooh, that! and that! Oh Oh! and THAT!" LOL- much worse than a kid in a candy store.

Since today is DD's real birthday I took her to a special little toy shop to pick something out. At first she kept playing with the balls- one of which she tossed out their back door (open for cross breezes) and into the parking lot- you never saw a Momma run so fast- I never wanna have to buy something cause we broke it!
Side note- DH told me she broke a little porcelain figure in an MGM shop, she set it down and it broke- he waited 6 months to tell me! I told him we are going back there to pay for it when we go back!!

Dog Note- we actually have about 125-150 dogs in our program at any given time, so 3 more is noi a huge deal, what frustrates me is that they may have lyme disease (which means they are in pain) and/or heartworm (which means a minumum 8 week foster home will be needed) and spayed-which means they cant get on transport for at least a week (10 days) and then of course general vaccinations- and she can't pay for any of it- and mentioned she bought a bag of dog food a couple weeks ago and its almost out and she doesnt know how shes gonna buy another-so I worry about the dogs eating. And she calls them her CHILDREN- but they were all tied outside to Igloo dog houses up until DH left her. Labs4Rescue will foot the bill for all of it (meaning donations from kind ppl) we will pay to transport them, I will locate foster homes, medical treatment, and screen applicants, arrange home visits, etc and get them adopted. (My favorite part)
She said since dec they have crates in her basement with a woodstove. There are 2 sisters (age 6) lab-golden retriever and Mom-age 8-choc lab
She DOES sound very nice and i think she probably just wasnt thinking as she kept getting dogs. Only 12, so not quite a collector, but kind of along those lines. I just hope our director doesnt decide we cant take them- Im praying they dont test positive for Heartworm! If we bring them up here (from PA to CT) its $200 for treatment and requires up to 2 months of boarding or foster care.

Ugh- just went to get Disney fabric from closet to wash and my iron fell on my foot!!! Its turning pretty colors, good thing it was on a low shelf.

Im off to wash fabric and eat some birthday cake. Allergies are making me grumpy.

LOL- you are sooo right girlfriend!
But,Their parents were literally right there- so I had to be diplomatic-had they not been--- I would have been far more assertive. What ticks me off is if I had seen it happen (as DH did) Id have snatched that present back- I thought he had it. Men. Ugh.
I have seen this aggressive behavior from children at my SIL's parties as well- and am in shock about it.
I did whip out the goodie bags IMMEDIATELY after we finished opening presents so DD's new toys wouldnt become fodder for the 3 girls. DH thinks they are that way because Dad is gone much of the time.

Uh-oh- Im having that problem again- I cant decide what pattern and what fabric to use- cost me a week last time.

I really like the reversible A-line, just have to figure out how to do a better job closing it- I wish is closed at the hem and not the side. This would be great for summer use. Wish I had me some of the Buzz fabric now- I could go buy it- but I got this Princess stuff I should use.
OR- I have the Surfing disney characters for a shirt for DH- although I have 1 pattern Im waiting for another to arrive in the mail.....
OR I could take on something new- like the Carla'C protrait peasant dress....

Still a great deal on the fabric. I wonder if you could PM me with the name of this seller. I love getting bargains on fabric.

Here is what I did with the Tinkerbell pillow case :lmao:

I hate hearing when dogs are in bad situations. I hope that they are all ok. Labs are the sweetest dogs ever. They are just so darn cute too. My aunt has always kept a couple of labs. She always makes sure that they are very well taken care of. I was shocked when she went and got a rat terrier. Those are good dogs too.

I hope your foot starts feeling better soon.

Glad you were both satisfied with the resolution. :thumbsup2

I really like the reversible A-line, just have to figure out how to do a better job closing it- I wish is closed at the hem and not the side. This would be great for summer use.
I close mine at the bottom. I sew the sides together, than I sew the top part together and then sew around the bottom. I leave a spot about 4 inches long open and turn the dress around through that hole and then topstitch the whole thing (this closes the hole at the bottom). I also am going to make one for Jenna that is not reversible and just use the top part of the pattern and cut it for facing. I have to do this for her dolly too.

My dear sweet DH told me he thought it would be a good idea to put all my sewing stuff in storage till we are settled at the new place.I couldn't help but :lmao: at him.I told him its riding in the van with me!!! I have 4 unfinished dresses, that I had started on before my mouth surgey that I haven't had time to finish.I told him that tonight while he was at work (he works 3rd) and after dd goes to sleep I am not packing I am gonna get some sewing done. I just need some relax time lol do you all think this is wrong?

My biggest problem is we are moving from a 4 bedroom house into a 2 bedroom house.so we are losing alot of space, but it is saving us $800 a month to do it(more Disney trips for us:banana:  ).I will have to be super organized which I am not,not to mention me,DH,and dd are all pack rats. so this is fun lol

Just want to stay in touch,I have been reading everyday, just to tired to post

And, (shameless plug) I updated my trip report!

We did the Wonderland Tea Party earlier this month. Out of 20-or-so girls, 7-8 were dressed as Alice (traditional costume). I counted 3-4 of the standard park costume ('Alice' embroidered on the skirt), 2 other matching costumes, 1 completely sparkly costume, and DD's homemade costume. My DD was, as it was her Halloween costume from 2 years ago that still fit (I believe in making things big so they continue to fit!).

When we went in, the far (left as you're walking in) end of the table was where Alice sat.

I don't post here much, I've become a lurker ;) But I do like to see what everyone has been making. Now I'm here to ask for help. I think this is the most beautiful, elegant, feminine outfit I've ever seen!!! I MUST make one and I don't know how! Any tips? Please

I was thinking about using a peasant top/dress pattern, but not sure how to make it so full at the bottom.

pinkruffles.jpg

AND I'm looking for a pattern or instructions on how to make an elastic headband to match an outfit. Anyone know where to find one?

That looks like CarlaC's "Portrait Peasant Tops and Dresses" pattern from YCMT. She gives instructions for the rhumba ruffles like that outfit. It's full at the bottom because it's a ton of fabric ruffled on there--like a twirl skirt would be. :)

I too close up the A-line top at the bottom and I avoid hand-sewing. I sew the top and the sides then I use bias tape to finish the bottom hem. No hand-sewing, no turning things inside out.
