First I have to say thank you guys for the complements for the bag, it was a huge hit today, I have brand names handbags that I paid lot of money for and never gotten a complement for them... Everybody was asking me for a bag ...I got 15 orders today, the funny thing is that I did not do it for selling it was just that you guys inspired me to do some sewing , so I decided not to charge any money for them but got my hands busy now, ...this is where I need help ...I was doing laundry and sewing at the same time, I put my futons covers in the dryers and totally forgot about them, well....they burnt and also shrunk, I went to the website to order new covers and was shocked at the total price over 500.00 (cheapest material) for the whole set. I think that maybe I could do them myself but not know how to start. I thought about buying sheets to sew them, that way if I messed it up I will not loose a lot of money in fabric, I have a complete futon living room set , a queen size, full size, chair with ottoman, round(4) and square pillows(6), what do you guys think, can it be done? any ideas or maybe a website that can help me? The fabric store that I have close to me does not sell patterns:confused3

TIA
Linnette
Trading Spaces made some on a couple of their shows. I think that they used sheets on one of the shows. I found this site. http://www.digsmagazine.com/lounge_makefutoncover.htm There are three pages for the instructions, but the link is really small. In blue in the lower right hand corner under the instructions it say but, wait there's more. Click that.
I also found this one. I kind of like the look of this one. http://www.wise4living.com/hdcover/mattress.htm
Good Luck.

Ok, i finished the pettiskirt for tahlia that i posted unfinished last week. it was suppost to be for her birthday in May. but i let her wear it last friday night to High School Muscial on ice.

We had a great time at the show, it was just jayden, tahlia and myself. My mum watched Ash and Blake for me and dh was at work. We caught the train into the city, had dinner and then caught another train to the venue, it was great not having to drive and worry about parking/traffic etc. The show was good! the kids enjoyed it and tahlia sung along to all the songs. I was actually surprised how many older teens were there, there were quite a few groups of 17years+ both guys and girls.

Anyway here are some pics of the pettiskirt, its not perfect as like i said before i dont have a ruffler yet, so it is all done by hand. The purple strips for the bottom were 4 yards long each, and there were 8 of them! It doesn't look as full and puffy as the brought ones, i dont know what i'm doing wrong! maybe its the fabric that is wrong, i got chiffon, but maybe its not the right type.

Here is Tahlia -

Ash wants one too, so while tahlia was at school yesterday she wore it around-

Jay didn't have any customs to wear to HSM, but he did have a custom made cast for his arm that he broke at school a few weeks ago (although the dr made that one;) ) -

And just because i can't leave blake out, he is a pic from easter-

That turned out really cute and you have adorable kids.

So how is this for creative? I was looking in the clearance aisle of Walmart. They had a curtain valence for one dollar. I thought...hmmmmm 15 inches long, by 60 inches wide....a SKIRT!!! Yes I did!!! I brought it home, sewed up the side seams, slipped elastic through the rod hole, and I am done! No ruffling, no finishing any edges. Simple, and the easiest thing I have ever done! Yep easier than pillowcase dresses of t-shirt dresses!!! Since then I have gone back and bought a Tink valence, and a Spongebob valence that were on clearance.

Oh and I bought a tee to match for 1.50. So here is my 2.50, under 5 min outfit:)

earthdayoutfits004.jpg

Absolutely BRILLIANT! I love it! I can't believe how well your cheap tee goes with it too!:thumbsup2

So I went a tiny bit crazy at JoAnns.

Then I went to Walmart to find the sneakers and found this 8x8 100% cotton panel. I just had to go back to JoAnns to buy Nemo fabric. The panel will be the bodice of a simply sweet top, the Nemo will be the skirt, the blue will be the straps and back (and sides on the front bodice). I think I'll make Nemo capris with blue cuffs. I'm most excited about this one.

This should keep me busy and I have to think about packing soon!
I LOVE this panel! Where did you find it? I've never seen a small panel for sale like that... does it come in a package? Your fabric picks are perfect for it!
Yipee! Finished another project! I made this Pooh dress for Olivia for our trip but I am thinking now it is to summerish even with a long sleeve shirt for December. What do you think? lol, I think the Lime and Hot pink make it summerish and then the white just makes it even more summery. Oh well, I can add it to her overflowing closet I guess unless you all think we can pull it off for our trip!

This is precious! I agree that it would look great in December. On my computer, the pink looks very red, so I'm wondering if it could pass for green and red christmasy... plus the circles could almost look like ornaments... I think it would be great!

I am so excited, I just had to share my joy! I was at my usual JoAnns yesterday and thought I would check out this wooly nylon thread so many of you swear by... Well they don't carry it...:sad2: that's not the exciting part! Then I called around and found a nearby store that does carry it (which is good because they weren't doing 50% off online.) and holy cow, it was the biggest JoAnns I've ever been to!!!! It is like 4 times the size of the one I usually shop at. It was like my usual store plus a Michaels all in one store! (they had a huge craft area too, they seem to carry nearly everything they have online!) And, one of my favorite parts.... you take a number for the cutting table!!!:thumbsup2  This is a brilliant idea, how come more fabric stores don't do this? I got to continue browsing while waiting my turn!!! Its at least 10 minutes further away and in a direction I never go, but I see many return trips in my future....:cloud9:

ok everyone I am leaving in the morning for DL. I'll be back next wed and I am sure there will be a new thread by then! I will miss all of you, keep up the awesome sewing and wait to you see these fab customs when I get back!
Lori

Will they be GREEN EGGS? Is Ham going to be involved? Maybe it will be a magical Seuss type of experience? Having been a recipient of radioactive gunk myself, I know it's not the most fun situation. Wishing you oodles of luck on this endeavor!!! You are a SUPER TROOPER!!!

OH my word!!!! People must fuss over your daughter something FIERCE! She's SO dang cute...coordinating her outfits with events must put people into "SHE'S SO CUTE!!!" overdrive!!!

love the outfit!!!

Awww...Thanks! I think she's pretty cute too. Her outfit was a pretty big hit today. She said that while she was in library (after the field trip) 2 different teachers came and got her to show off her outfit to the classes. We also got stopped by a few moms in the parking lot.

Have a great trip!

We just got back from Go Diego Go! Violette Looooooved it! She sat with me the whole time and didn't try and squirm away. She never lets me hold her that long, let me tell ya. Anyone else could..just not me..She stood on my lap and jumped up and down. She loved the Bobo brothers. I'm so glad I took her. No cameras were allowed in the building so I didn't get any pics of her there, except the free online pic they were doing for everyone. So I took pics of her once we got home. I went with the green shirt. I'm so happy, I got a lot of compliments and people asking me where I got her dress. It's the 1st time I've ever taken her out in something I made. It felt really good. Haha, don't mind the toy bomb that went off in my livingroom :D

What a cutie- So glad you had a great time!! My ds wanted to go to that so bad!! our city was one of the first stops so he has been asking to go for months!!!!
Technically yes. I just made the same size squares as the rest and then folded them in half to make the ruffle.
Thanks- I have a feeling you maybe seeing more "tier ruffles" around here- Great idea!!!
What a cute little cowboy!! I mean handsome :goodvibes

So I went a tiny bit crazy at JoAnns.

I got Buzz to make a top (probably A Line) and denim to make shorts. DD says she loves the fit of her Cars shorts.

Found this cute Pooh fabric in the clearance spot for my oldest DD (youngest still won't wear pink). She loves it. I'm not sure which top pattern I'll use for this.

Cute! Cute!
Thanks to you I bought the Aline pattern and DH printed it and brought it home tonight, I read it thru and Im going out tomorrow to buy fabric for an aline top and easy fit pants for her birthday party sunday. I love this pattern- I really like a lined pattern.

Im learning-after finishing Ariel outfit that I do not like the "bias tape" edges of most patterns, I find little armholes to be a bit tricky and and I dont have a serger so unlined outfits tend to look homemade on the inside. kwim? Part of my issue is probably that Im basically teaching myself to sew clothes. So if a pattern leaves out how to finish something- I assume their last instruction was just that- the last thing Im suppose to do.
I've got the top done and just have to finish the easy fit pants (shorts) tomorrow morning. I did find the pattern a little tough to work with for a size 1 if I wanted to make them into a short. But I've got it worked out.

It is 5am and I have been up for 2 hrs dealing with reflux. I made a BIG mistake today. I ate like 10 oreos, a couple nibbles of dark chocolate and the realy problem is the brownie with homemade hot fudge sauce I had no business eating so late. PMS made me do it.:rolleyes1
Well I did take double strength of my Protonix before bed (11:40) but around 3 I shot out of bed like a cannonball, I tried to sit up in bed, but all I could do is feel the burn. And now its activated my asthma and I have a cough that Im trying NOT to cough. I took a bath and some mylanta and a Pepcid Complete, but really theres not alot I can do but wait-and not cough, it just stirs up the acid.

Got my new issue of Sew Beautiful- I just love this magazine. I think after our Disney trip Im going to learn how to do some heirloom baby day gowns- they look sweet and simple.
I would also like to make something like this, once Im a little more experienced. Yo ucan purchase the kit from marthapullen.com

Sorry such a long post.
I have really enjoyed everybody's new posts. I saw a pink and brown outfit on an older girl that was awesome!!!
And I love that Minnie Mouse bag too!

I had ordered a Minnie Dot outfit from an ebay sewer and it comes with a little girl's head with ears. She's suppose to have curly hair, but mine just has flat embroidery. I emailed the seller and she said she must have forgot to do it- that she just cuts the threads. Huh? Im a bit nervous to take sizzors to embroidery.....

just heard the birds chirp-time for me to try bed again-in an upright position.

WOW, You have a JoAnn's Superstore!! The one thing I miss here in Virginia is that there are no Superstores like there were in St. Petersburg/Tampa FL. I LOVED shopping there. The only minor compensation I have here is that I have 4 Walmarts around that still have their fabric depts...LOL I also have 3 Hancock stores near me. Nana

I just bought alot of it. On sale like 50 plus. It streaches more I bought it for swimsuits, active wear, ext. Some people say once you use it you will only use it. I havent used it enough yet to say though. But the price is alot more. I paid on sale being 50% off 2.99 to 3.99 per 1000 M. Some are variegated, metallic, and then normal colors. I hope this answers your question. It just streaches more than normal thread. But is great for swimsuits, active wear, underwear, ext.

I know I misspelled some please forgive me I have not had my coffee.

Melanie

Finally got the crabby outfit finished. Thanks to everyone that replied on how to place my crabby. I asked my hubby which way and he said angled, so I went with that. It also covered up a slight stain when it was angled as well.

Anyways......

I am glad you asked. I would really like ANY Pokemon fabric?? Does anyone know where to get it other than :wizard: . It goes to high there.

Thanks,
Melanie

Yesterday I saw some Thomas the train fabric at Wal-Mart. They had two different kinds. I almost picked some up to make some boy clothes with, but I don't any little boys in that age group. I have to go back to that Wal-Mart today to get some Ariel fabric that I had a dream about if you'd like I can pick some of that up for you.
