Very pretty! Violette seems to love it too! I love her name BTW. Now just start sewing! It is fun and everyone here will help you with any questions you have!

SO, I went into Joanns today for one little piece of ribbon :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I don't know what happened, but among other things, I wound up with this:
I hope glorib doesn't mind if I CASE her by making a wrap skirt and pageboy hat for Lily?

I made the fully lined, reversible version of the Butterick 5019 pattern (altered)
This is some of the Hobby Lobby fabric I've been  about!

Now, here's where y'all can help me. I want to do something crazy and fun at the hem like hand-washable pom pom fringe. What do you think? I ran out of the darker print to do her pants with so I need to go back to HL soon!!

So far the bottom hem is just overcast stitched so it wont unravel. I'm thinking FUN trim because this is not from my "Everyday Collection". I love it so much I don't want her to wipe her boogers on it or get any food on it. WHY am I like this? :sad2: I'll have to think of a great occasion for which she can wear it!

here's my "invention". The patten calls for a little button in strap to hold thefront tight, I didn't like if very much so I made a little elastic strip instead!
th_4417e22d.jpg

OK, so cute! So very cute! I have that same fabric except for the pink - my HL didn't have the pink. May have to go to another HL and see if they have it. Love the elastic, too. I actually don't mind the button thingy, but I usually make 5 button holes so the top has a lot of room for growing. But, my husband can never figure out how to put them on DD. If I did the elastic, he may be able to figure it out. Maybe. :rotfl:

OK, since everyone else is sharing their dreams (we all seem to have similar ones) - here's my recurring dream. Mine is that I'm in college and it's finals week and I realize that I haven't been to one class all semester. Just plain forgot about the class altogether until the day of the final. So, of course I panic and try to figure out what to do to not fail the class. It's always a history class, too, which was always my worst subject. I always wake up from that one feeling sick to my stomach and with a headache.

Since I'm sharing, I think it was Teresa who asked about my name stories, so I'll share those, too.

With Caleb, we didn't find out the gender, so we were trying to pick out boy names and girl names. I just knew that he was a boy, though. I was always saying "he" and I just had a feeling that he was a boy. This worked out well, because, for the life of me, I could not find a girl name that I liked. We had a couple of boy names that we had picked out - Riley James was one, Lucas was another and finally Caleb. I kept saying I would know what he was when I saw him. Well, I wound up with a c-section and didn't get to see him for a while. The nurses kept asking what his name was and I kept telling them that I needed to see him before I could decide. So finally, I got to see and hold him and he didn't look like a Riley or a Lucas. He was a Caleb. So we named him Caleb Kitt. Kitt is DH's middle name and FIL's first name, so a family name and I thought we should keep up that tradition.

With Ella, we found out she was a girl with our ultrasound. Again, I just had a feeling. Knew she was a girl even before the ultrasound. I had been thinking of girl names all along, but DH and I rarely agreed and I didn't really fall in love with anything. Then, I was looking through a scrapbook magazine and saw the name Avery and loved it and DH liked it. I thought her middle name should be something kinda unique, like Caleb's. So I found Quinn in the baby name book and I liked how Avery Quinn sounded together, plus our last name begins with a T, so her initials would have been AQT - if you say it out loud, it sounds like "a cutie" which I thought was cute. But, when she was born, it just wan't right. She didn't look like an Avery Quinn to me. She was nameless for a few hours until DH came up with Ella and it just fit. Then we needed a middle name and DH suggested Marie because it sounded nice, so we went with it. I love it now and can't imagine her being anyghing else, but I do still love the name Avery Quinn. So, that was her "almost name." I even did a scrapbook page about it - http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=844622

Whew! That was very long-winded! Sorry!

Yes that was my hubby..he was a zombie. This was me on halloween. I was Marie Antoinette with a slit throat

I love that Violet isn't a bit freaked that her parents are scary!

DIG the Marie Antoinette!!!!

So here is what I have been up to. . .

First, my DH has been helping me workout more, so we got boxing gloves and I have been punching and kicking (really serious workout - and fun ) The gloves we got had ties so I sewed on elastic and velcro so you can tighten/tie them without any help. . . not a big deal, but something I used the machine for

DSC06399.jpg

My model was being shy at first, but I finally got him to pose:
DSC06400.jpg

Then I made my first stripwork jumper, which I LOVED. . . and was so excited to give to the mom of the baby I made it for I forgot to get pictures of it (I emailed her to ask her for a shot when she has a chance, it may take a while, she has four little ones).

BUT I made a second one today. . . I liked the color combo on the first one better, but am happy with how it turned out. . .

ALSO - I JUST started sewing (thanks for all the inspiration). . . I have made two trips to Walmart this month and here's all teh fabrics I picked up to make things for my friends and cousins. . . practice til I have little ones. . . (most of it was from the $1 section, and I only got one fabric that was more than $2 a yeard - the Dora stuff, but my cousins little girls love Dora, and DH and I have an extra special place in our hearts for them. . . now I just need to call their mom and ask for their sizes). . .

so here's all the fabric (and pillowcases, lol):

Wow, look at all that fabric, you're going to have some serious fun :)

I am soo stressed out!

The reasons I have not been sewing are becasue I have been working soo much and taking care of Georgia and my husband.

I am working close to 75 hours a week. I hardly see my kid. Which is putting a stress on her. I just feel awful. Tonight I told her that I do not have to work tomorrow night, BUT Grandma will be picking her up from school instead of me because I do have to work during the day. She was not happy.

My husband lost his job (he can get it back..) due to medical issues. He is going through Methadone withdrawal! I hate his dr. really i do. He has chronic back pain they gave him methadone nearly two years ago for it. I was so unwilling to have him be on it, as was he. But nothing was working for his pain. So now, he is on week two of COLD TURKEY withdrawals. He is really sick, the shakes, he either sleeps for 23 hours of the day, or he can't sleep at all. He hasn't eaten anything in nearly five days. Tomorrow after the girl scout meeting I am taking him to the ER.

There is a chronic pain program but its doesn't start until the middle of April!! We can't go through this until then. He can't! I have been talking to his mom about him going to stay with her for a bit until he is getting better. I just dont know what to do anymore. Georgia can not see her dad like this anymore. I would rather her miss him when he is at grandma's house, then see him and remember him like this.

So coming here, reading and looking is like a saving grace. I know it sounds silly, but it really is. Its my own little get away other than work.

Wish us luck tomorrow that someone does something for him.

Best of luck that things get better, sorry you and yours are going through this right now.

OK. do not mind the messy house! haha We just took everything out of the garage and went through it to do somet spring cleaning and ended up messing up the house even more! Specially since I am the only one doing the work!

Here is the "everyday" outfit for Georgia. She FINALLY tried it on for me. The shorts fit her ok. but the top is too big! I can fix it, but still... at least she will have it to grow with right?!

NOW....this shirt I got from my work. We were going through closets today getting ready for a rumage sale. Most would look at this and think OMG who would wear that, right?? well we all did. haha and no body would put the client in it! I saw it and said YIKES! I wouldn't wear it as a shirt........BUT......wouldn't that be cute as a baby outfit?!?! little shorts made from the back of the shirt. and a little halter ruffley type shirt from the front?!?! so that is what I am going to do.

I do not have to work Saturday at all!!! Thank goodness. I Need it BADLY. Georgia has Girl Scout camp for Daisy girls for two hours. then that is it! I might go out with my cousin later in the night for a much needed girls night. That is if I get a grandparent or uncle to wathc the Peach. SO I plan on actually sewing saturday! yay !!

Love that everday outfit, can't wait to see what you make from the shirt

Okay here's a picture of the secret dress I'm working on. It still needs some work. I'm carrying the gold swirls up top and champagne shear ruffle on the sleeves. DD8 doesn't know anything about it yet. Sunday I'm going to let her try it on.

IMG_0222.jpg
Wow, that's coming along nicely, your dd will be so happy :)

You guys are such an inspriration! I absolutely love all the outfits. I had 2 days off, so I am getting caught up on about 15 pages of stuff. I wanted to share some of the outfits I got done while I was off. I think I am improving.

Here are the outfits:

Beautiful outfits and a lovely model Love the decorative hem stitching on the minnie stripwork jumper

LOVE the shamrock and ladybugs. Cute frog halteralls.

Okay, I haven't been on in a while, and I definatally haven't had any time to sew. Im still trying to whipp up something with the nemo book panel I won here.

Since were all family, im going to share some personal obstacles were trying to conqure with my oldest DD.

She is 8. We adopted her at 13 months. Diagnosed as ADHD, high anxiety, Bi-polar, and many underline small things such as sensory, fine gross motor, vistibular, propreoceptive delays, Learning disabled, .... ( god I love her ). Anyway for the last month or so she has thought worms have invaded her body. She thinks they are in her hair, she is litarally pulling her hair out. She has them on her skin and scratches and often scrubbs too hard in the shower. Due to anxiety ab out the "worms" she broke out in hives on both arms and the trunk of her body (front and back), she is trying not to go number 2 because her boo boo has worms in it, and she is scared. She is biting her fingers/nails down till they blead to help the worms out. She also has scratched one of her wrist to a big bloody scab. We have been to the psychologist twice a week, psychiatrist every other week, and we go to a peer group once a week when we have been peeking in on the nurse. We also have visited the family doctor (of course). Her meds were increased 1 1/2 percent. She was percribed a lotion for the hives. We have to change bed sheets every night just so she feels comfortable enough to sleep because she thinks the worms are in her sheets. I put some shampoo in a cough syrup bottle and she thinks it's magic worm killing shampoo. I spray water on the sheets because it's magic spray to kill the worms. We switched to all free and dove white. We also had to go to a plain white dryer sheet. (till the hives are gone). I have been so busy. But the good news, today she told me that the worms havent been around as much. :thumbsup2 What a relief!

Thanks for letting me share. I've been so frusterated, and the time change messes us all up and threw us for a loop. We'll get it together...hopefully soon.

I'm so sorry that your daughter is going through all that, I'm so glad you are doing so much to help her along. She is very lucky to have a dedicated family, so many families just decide a child is "difficult" and don't get them the help they need so badly. Your hard work is going to pay off in the end and she'll thank you for your dedication when she's older

I am so sorry that you are having a difficult time right now. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Here is what I have been working on the past 3 days. CarlaC's A-line top and easy fit pants.

It's reversible!

That is gorgeous fabric. I may have to head to Joanns to see if I can find me some of that.

On a related note, we have a family wedding this summer. I was thinking of making both Lauren and I coordinating dresses - something in a floral print for me and something coordinating but not matchy-matchy. DH says we will look dorky. What are your thoughts?

Oh and I wanted to add, I bought some Magic Sizing and as Tom said it is like Pixie dust in a can. I love how nice things look when I use it to iron. Note that I HATE ironing but this almost makes it tolerable.

Thank you for the info! Rylie is in a 12month too! So if it fits Savannah it should fit Rylie! Okay, here are some pics of the two dresses I made for Rylie:
I made this using carla's simply sweet pattern:

I was going to add ricrac and bows, but my dh said NO, he liked it as is! Also, the hem is NOT CROOKED, it is just the way she is standing!:)
Here is the easter dress for our easter picnic:

I made this using carla's aline pattern! I love how this came out! Thanks carla for all of your great patterns!

PS- please excuse the clothes pins as I have not yet put the buttons on and they are a little safer than straight pins!;)

Very cute, I've been loving Carla's patterns too.

Dorky to some is fabulous to others. I say do it! Maybe a skirt for you and a dress or jumper for her? The possibilities are endless.

I dropped my can of sizing and broke of the stem :guilty: But I do have "Heavy Starch" on hand. I like the sizing better though. Pixie Dust in a can! :lmao:

I need to make Hope an Easter Bonnet for a party at nursery next week - has anyone got any ideas what I could do?

Whatever I end up with I can guarantee it won't stay on her head for more two minutes though :rotfl2:
