Hi All!

I am terribly behind on this thread, I mean, when did we get to part 3 ;)

Seriously though, I spent last Friday at a Sewing Expo! Are you Jealous? It was a blast. It was my first year to go and definitely not my last. $4 seminars on almost every thing you can think of and some free ones as well. I stuck to those and didn't dive into the more spendy hands-on classes, although I am sure I would learn a bunch if I did.
But the real fun was the vendors! Oh, the fabric (not much Disney :sad1: ) I didn't buy as much as my hubby was afraid I would. And I realized when I got home I forgot to get a few things....like a pattern for this foot stool they called a "Tuffet", so cute.

Ok, now on to todays find.... and forgive me if this is a common knowledge thing for you guys. I saw this today in a catalog and was amazed I hadn't thought of it before..... the Crayon Apron!

Ok, I just had to share my recent experiences with you all. You continue to inspire me. But first things first....I need to go get organized - who needs a guest room right?

Do you have the name of Expo? Maybe we could look it up on the internet and see if it's going to be in one of our areas?

Okay seeing as though many of you are also quite talented in the cake decorating area....I am in need of some help. I know many of you posted pictures of your yummy masterpieces. I have that recipe for Marshmellow fondant, can't remember who posted that. I wanna try that for my DD's birthday party which is on Sunday. Can I make that marshmellow fondant in advance or will it go bad?? Any advice would be greatly appreiated!!!

Thanks you guys!!!

Here are some pictures of the peter pan outfit. can I just start by saying I hate it...LOL. The skirt is okay, but no matter what I did, I couldn't make a top short enough so you can see the appliques. I wound up making two tops. I used the laguna skirt pattern for the back of the first top. It was so hard to make, and then when she tried it on, it was WAY too long for that skirt...GRRRRRRR!!!!!!
So I made a second top. A white halter...it's okay...but not what I really wanted to make. So anyway here it is...
oh yeah, I got my bug's life, Marie, Mickey Sailor, Savannah Safari, and Moo Cow fabric today!!! YEA!!!

I think this looks great! I really like the white halter with it!

You skirt is adorable. I am looking for something to make my oldest DD Leanne. She is 10 and we need modest skirts for her to wear to church in the summer. I am soooo tiered of the super short shorts and skirts!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY love this!!!! Did you use a pattern? I'm thinking of making something like this for Arminda. She doesn't do well with a lot of extra bulk around the waist, so I think this would be really cute for her. I look at that fabric everytime I go to the store, and I keep trying to justify buying it. It is so beautiful!

THANK YOU! I used New Look #6506, but adjusted the waistband part. It goes from a size 3 to size 8, so I can use it for quite a while! It was so easy, and took all of 30min. I know what you mean about bulk around the waist! The skirt I made before this was to gathered and it did not look good on her! My dh did not like it either! I like the way this fits alot better! I really liked the fabric, too and for 2.00/yard it really is a steal!

Elisa - your appliques are awesome!! I really like that first top. All three pieces are awseome though! Where are the green/blue fabric from? Theyre sooo pretty.

This was a set I made a while ago, and finally added the Mickey head today. Sadly you can't really see it in the pictures. I spent the afternoon, running errands and watching Ireland at gymnastics...
Hopefull tomorrow I will get some sewing done...

Oh, that is such a cute outfit! It would be perfect for Ohana!

Oh, we get the same catalog! I love Chasing Fireflies, too bad almost all of it too expensive for me! I did get my girls the polka dot Lola et Moi dresses from last year (they have them again this year too) and loved them! Beautiful clothes!

I don't know who else bought Carla's new pattern today, but the temptation was too great to resist.;)

Here is my adaptation of her new pattern. This is the halter version. I tried to "artsify" my photos a bit. Albeit my redneck version!:rotfl:

I need to work on my focusing, and my lighting!
Leighanna had just got out of the bathtub, and it was past her bedtime, so I just shot these quickly.

Leighanna looks beautiful, the pictures are beautiful and how in the world did you whip it up in a day? You just bought the pattern!

Cool! I went to a sewing expo a few weeks ago and had a blast. I took two hands on classes (to learn about my serger) and they were both excellent. Very neat crayon apron!

Beautiful pictures! Reviews please. Was it as easy as her others? I am trying to decide if I should get it or not. I have so many store bought patterns that look pretty similar, but I like the idea of printing out whatever size I need. Yes, I do probably need to get it, right?

Of course you need to get it!

I love how everyone names their babies...

Delaney is a good Irish last name that I loved. DH is English so I had to be careful broaching the subject of Irish names, for example I LOVE Declan for a boy, but since my kids will hold dual citizenship, having a Declan would get him caught up in airports as a potential IRA member. :) Or so DH claims.

My Granddad's name is Declan. He is Irish...born and raised in Ireland...lives in Ireland for half the year now...and he has never once been stopped going through Heathrow Airport on suspicion of being an IRA member! Declan is a VERY common boys name in Ireland and certainly isn't connected to the IRA! Did your DH live in Northern Ireland?

Declan is a wonderful strong name! It's actually becoming quite common in the United States now. Irish pride abound!! :thumbsup2 There were TWO Declans in my step son's nursery school class!! It would be a good choice for your son. Delaney is nice as well...but then I'm partial to Irish names!

:)

That's really cute, and I like it with the white halter top. Did you do the applique on the white top as well? You do such a wonderful job on all the appliques...I hope to be just as good some day, but for now, I still struggle with the simple ones!

I won't share the name Morgan had when I met her (she gets upset). But I can share the source of her forever name:goodvibes. My grandmother was of Welsh origins (she passed away before Morgan was born), and she did not want ANYONE named after her. Her first name and her maiden name both started with M, so I choose the name Morgan. On my fathers side we have lots of "Ray"s, I have an Uncle Ray, Aunt Ray, my grandfather was Ray, cousin Ray etc. So I named her Morgan Ray.

So as Morgan says she is a part of the "RAY'S family. :cool1:

Has anyone heard of these shoes? Sydni is dying to have a pair and she is doing chores at home to earn the money for them! They are VERY expensive! I was just wondering if anyone owned any of these! I would like your opinions on them if so! TIA!!!!!!

Oh yes...My step daughter has a couple of pairs of Lelli Kelly shoes...courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa! Full of sparkles and sequins...she ADORES them! They appear to be very well made and able to stand up to kids play...I don't think she's lost a sparkle yet!

They ARE outrageously expensive for children's shoes...that won't be worn for very long...b/c that is the nature of kid's shoes!

I'm VERY glad my step daughter's grandparents don't care about such things!

:lmao:

I think it's very commendable that your little one wants to earn the money for a pair of her own!! They'll mean that much more to her!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I think they are very cute, but I have never even thought of spending that much for one pair of shoes! However, she is earning the money and I think she will appreciated them more that way! Do you know where they buy them? Or how true to size they are?

I love the back of the white top and the skirt is to die for.

Harper is my Dad's middle name. It's supposed to be a family name, but he's the only one i know with it.

Kirsta is always called by the wrong name. But it's our fault. We pronounce it Kearsta. When going through the baby book, Kira, Kirsta.... well, after chosing it, we found out it's really pronounced Kersta. But we like it as we chose it.
When I read Kirsta I read it as Kearsta like Kirsty Ally

Yes DD wants these. I told her that we would buy her a plain pair of shoes in the color of her choice and decorate them with sequins and beads and all those other sparkly things. It will save a fortune and you can control how much sparkle they have on them.

Adoptionmomma4- My aunt adopted 3 children through foster care and she changed their names a little too. One was Michael Steven (Michael Jay now) Marcus Samuel (Marcus Ray now) and Kathleen Meredith (Katherine Denae now) I liked Katie's name before she changed it better than what she changed it to, but she just wanted to disconnect the children from their previous life and I can understand that. Michael and Marcus are twins when she got them they looked like girls and didn't know that they each had different names.

They appear to run fairly true to size...at least I think so. My step daughter would sure fuss if they didn't fit comfortably! They also seem to be VERY supportive and comfortable. (Better be for the price!!!)

Her grandparents got them at Nordstrom I believe...

You can also find them online! Shoes.com has them...and onlineshoes.com. Sometimes you can find an online coupon for those sites and get a pretty decent deal! Don't buy them from Zappos though...highest prices on the web b/c they have "free" overnight shipping.

Good luck!! :goodvibes

The blue and green is just gorgeous...I got it at JoAnn's. They also had a red, orange combination that was to die for...I should have bought more of it, but it was expensive...
