Completely off topic but I've got a question. :) We just installed laminate flooring in our living room. I bought a swiffer to clean it but the flimsy thing broke last night! I had it for a whole week! GRRR.... anyway, what do you use to clean your laminate? I'm thinking of the shark steam mop. Any opinions???
is your laminate sealed? You are not supposed to use wet stuff on it. BUT what I do is, damp sponge mop with vinegar and water and quickly walk on it with towels on my feet to dry it. HTH.

here is what took me 5 hours but 3 days to make. I only worked on it during naptime. I like it and so does she.

What a magical bed canopy. Did you make that? I want one for me!

Love the yellow and purple jumper set, and your girls are sweet!

I love naptime accomplishments!!!!!!

Ok, this has pulled down some, and I swear it looks better in person, but here:

th_DSCN0808.jpg

That looks great!!

I think that turned out really cute, and your dd is adorable too!!

I need to start sewing "every day" clothes.

See, here's my dilemma. I make things for special occasions and holidays but these things are "nice" and too dressy for most of our activities.

I hesitate to let my dd wear things that took a LOT of work for just everyday wear. :guilty:

I'm going to just focus on a spring/summer wardrobe that she can wear all the time without me worrying.

There. I said it!

So minimally adorned jeans with a simple peasant top or a knit dress.
A usable wardrobe. We have plenty of picture taking clothes or church dresses etc. Anyone feel the same sometimes?

Oh, I know what you mean.....only that I haven't really sewn her anything fancy. I have bought her Gymboree clothes and then I get really bothered when she gets them all dirty....immediately, I think..oh now, it has now lost its resell value on eBay! LOL Then, we also have those picture taking clothes that just hangs in the closet after picture day...too nice to be every day clothes, and too nice to wear to school.

Since people are sharing name things, thought I'd share my own. . .

My name (Adianez) is my mom's (Zenaida) backwards :) And I promise, no one, my whole life, has pronounced my name right. . . in fact new teachers on day one would usually say Ms. _____ or just my last name. . . I married a guy with an easily pronounceable name (said how it is spelled) but no one will go near it either. . . it is funny on the first day of classes when professors get to your name and a look of panic and confusion gets to their face. . . I just raise my hand and say, you can call me Adi ;)

I have a cousin who got ultra-creative with her kids. . .

her eldest daughter is named Unique
her second daughter is named Wizdom
Her first son is named Genesis
and the baby, also a boy, is named Knight

She said once she did the first one, she couldn't leave anyone out of the creative/unique names! I think they are great, though not the plans I have for my future babies, but a lot of people have criticized her.

Speaking of names, dh and I decided not to tell anyone (not even our family and friends) the names that we chose for both our kiddos. Well..we didn't reveal their gender either...so everything was a secret. When my younger brother had their first child, they choose to name her Sharon and for some reason, everyone in my family didn't like the name, and everyone was talking behind their back about what a bad choice of name. So after that incident, dh and I just decided that we will keep the names and gender a secret. Honestly, I don't think anyone in my family is too thrilled with our choice of name for our kids either....they are always spelling it wrong!

Oh, my dd's name is Kirsten Leigh and for some reason, my aunt insist on spelling her middle name as "Leith"..and of course, Kirsten is always mistaken for Kristin, Kristen...I have a feeling she will be correcting people and spelling her name for others for a very long time. I mean, my own family can't even get it right after 4 years! My ds is Peyton Bryce. Most people think that we named him after Peyton Manning but that really wasn't the case.

I saw that in my email this morning....I think I am going to get that!! I love CarlaC's pattern!!

Hey!!!! Thanks so much for the plug! I have been working on that eBook pretty much non-stop for the last month! You should see the state my house is in right now  ! I have a gianormous pile of laundry to attend to today. My poor husband :sad2: .

OK, I'm trying to decide whether to get caught up on posts here or fold laundry! hmmmmmmmm.....

I think laundry can wait!!

Has anyone used Carlas "Easy-Fit" Pants for Dolly and ME! (BOYS, too!) pattern?

I love that pattern..I have made couple pair of shorts for my ds, and capri for my dd. I find it pretty easy, and doesn't take too long to make.

I was just going to ask the same thing! I like the look of them with the new top and dress pattern! I was thinking of getting both, but didn't know how easy the "easy fit" pants were to make!:rotfl:
I have that pattern, and it IS EASY! Here is my princess in the pants and top from Carla C.

Yes I use that pattern to make all my sons shorts. I am a NON sewer and it is easy for me. Once I get them cut it only takes about 30 minutes to make two pair.

I did not make the canopies, they were from the disney store. Reg price $49.99, sale clearance $14.99 good deal huh I thought so too until I got to the check out and they were 50% off so I got each one for $7.49. So I bought an extra one to give as a gift. :rotfl:

They look great! My Little Pony show never made it to Houston otherwise, I am sure dd would have wanted to go.

Where in Houston are you? I'm in Sugar Land.

When I was pregnant we shared the gender (girl) but not her name. I had the hardest time keeping it from my mom! We kept telling people we hadn't decided yet even when we did have the name picked out. After all it took for us to come up with a name we both liked we really didn't want any opinions about the name. Of course after we told DH's father that we named her Megan Elizabeth his response was "well I guess I can call her Liz" :scared1: Um... how about NO! If I had wanted her to be Liz I would have named her Liz... she is Megan Elizabeth.

I really wanted to name her Rosalie (and call her Rosie) after my grandmother, but my cousin used that for her daughter's middle name a few years before I got pregnant and I didn't want to look like I was copying her! My favorite name for a boy was Fletcher, which my DH did not like. Guess it's a good thing we had a girl :lovestruc

thanks everyone! I think I am just going to have to get both!:goodvibes The pants look really versatile, as does the dress/top pattern! Okay, off to buy some stuff!:rotfl:

I am on the SE side, in Friendswood. I have only been to Sugar Land three times...the first time when I got lost after an interview at the Galleria area..I took 59 going the wrong direction. We had just moved here, so I didn't even realize that I was lost until I saw a sign that says "Sugar Land!" I have since learned that 59 S will not take me back home! LOL

Yeah, coming up with names that both dh and I like was quite a challenge, especially for a boy's name. I wanted to name him Caden, but dh said...no, because there was a Caden in his class and he was a bully! Thankfully, couple months before he was born, we agreed on Peyton!

All my kids got there names from the Celtic baby name book i just mixed it up a lil .
My 1st dd who died was Astoria meagynn
my son Is Khrystian Greggory (he is always being called a girl ) i just don't see it. My middle name Is Kristene So i had to spell it with a K
Then Logan alekzander(He is secretly a jr DH did not want a jr so i just made the initials the same as Dad Lonnie Alonzo He just found this out a yr ago and Logan is 8 yrs old :rotfl:
Then My Jayedyn Cierra (she is my Girl) oh she was gonna be so many names I liked Evalynn, Carrington, Mykaylee , Mykaylyn, but she was just meant to be a Jayedyn
Camden Kennedy Born on president's day ( He has such a presidential name...esp with a last name Johnson)
Mayson Thomas He was gonna be a Ethan Thomas Up until 1 month before he was born.

Those are some really cute canopies and a great deal too. Your little one's look so cute sleeping. I love that outfit that you made the colors look great together.

Awwwwwwwww your daughter is so precious! I really love your customs...cute!!!
Oh goodie more cute stuff!!!! Keep posting! Can I CASE your tree shirt next year?! So cute!!! :lovestruc
Absolutely! they are so easy and fun to make out of ribbon scraps that are too short to use for anything else.

SERIOUSLY?! Wait...so when you say "non-sewer"...are you a non sewer who knows how to use a sewing machine? this is where I get stuck...I can use a needle and a thread...I've sewed 84,000 ribbons to toe shoes...but I don't think my fabulous hand stitching skills would do much for a pair of shorts!

I so want a sewing machine...but I'd be afraid it would just sit...and I don't have time to sew..except for lately b/c the flu keeps getting me banned from work!

THREE different times now...random fevers...flu will NOT let go!

so off the point...

what i meant to say was...CUTE SHORTS!! GREAT JOB!!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Ugh, so behind! Sorry!

Very cute and I love the little bunny!
and accidents happen! I broke a serger once!:scared1:

Thank you! I guess I should be glad I didn't break it, although I was very angry with myself for not paying attention.

That is too stinkin' cute!!!! I love it! I'd like to see a closeup of what's on the other side- opposite the peep. It looks like you did a little hill applique or something over there?

Your wish is my command:

IMG_0099.jpg

It is just two pieces of fabric, the Easter eggs and lining, overlapping. I just copied the one Megan picked out from :wizard: . My husband said it looks weird.

Oh that is so cute. I love how you did the straps! Megan is so cute!

Thank you! Much easier than buttons!

That is so cute! I love peasant tops.

This is adorable, as is your daughter. I love the mickey heads on the squares.

We love Hello Kitty around here. And the peasant top is so cute!

Cute, I love her sneakers. I had some just like those in high school!

Sooo cute! I love her little toes. You did a great job on the dresses.

That is so cute!!! Great job Stephanie!! and, please let Megan know that I love her jump rope, I've been wanting one like that for myself! And, tell her that she is a very good jump roper!!! I am very impressed!!!

Megan says thank you! She has been practicing so she is happy you noticed.

Pretty! It looks like the comforter the Megan had on the daybed when she was a baby. I love yellow and blue together. I also love Max Ruby, it's ok to admit that here, right?

This is what I did yesterday. I just took a pillowcase and added sleeves and a ruffle, for an "everyday outfit."

I've had about every kind of floor imaginable and I think laminate is the hardest to keep looking clean and not streaky. But, I 2nd the opinion that you should use vinegar and water for a cleaning solution. I've never tried a steam mop, but I'd make sure it's okay to use on laminate. I have a Hoover Floormate and it works great on laminate and real hardwood floors.

But, the best way to clean your floors is this-
Have your husband do it!! That's what I do! :rotfl:

I love the canopies!!! You got a GREAT deal on them! The outfit is absolutely darling and your DD is beautiful!!

Thank you! I love it even more than before now! It looks so European! Sometimes husbands are just wrong.

I really, really, love the HSM shirt! What a cool way to use that pillowcase. I've eyed it several times, but didn't know what I'd do with it. But, this is fabulous!

Now, why am I on here instead of making a "Simply Sweet Dress"?
