That is so cute! I wish I'd thought of that when DD2 broke her arm! She had the ugly way too big navy blue sling that just wouldn't stay on.

They gave Emmy that same one I was wraping the strap around twice and rolling the arm hole to make it shorter it still was wonky not staying in place so I Got tired of fixing it every 5 minutes and made my own.

No way! How cute! The fleece makes them so leakproof.

I think I used Nikky's and Bumkins.

I like the snaps for adjustablity. Velcro would wear out.

I totally felt like a :hippie: for breast feeding, using cloth, wearing the baby in a sling, making my own baby food...etc.

Do you find you need to adjust clothe patterns to allow for a bigger bum? Hope is 4.5 months and I've noticed store bought jeans are getting really snug.

I don't use pockets but preshaped bamboo nappies and a waterproof wrap. I've not made any of them myself but may have to give it a try......I do use reuseable wipes that I made myself.

Ok Here is the princess with the broken arm. In her custum made sling. I had to bribe her with gootsnacks (fruit snacks) To take the pics. But I thought I would share.

I love it!! I only broke a pinkie and my tailbone as a child so I never had to deal with a sling, but I remember the couple of times my sister had to wear one... fashion statement they are not!

I do have to find pants that have a better fit for Julia's cloth bum. I like childrens place pants a lot. Otherwise try some trim pockets. You may be surprised. Sometimes I feel like it's only when I put fitted or prefolds and covers on her that I need bigger pants. :lmao:

I'm thinking of doing a short sleeve top, and doing an applique on the front of the shirt. Using pink skull fabric.

My mother used this pattern and it was horrible. The peplum is really small and the skirt isn't full at all. I would say, use the pattern but alter it to make it look better than what she made...LOL

Has anyone ever made a custom outfit for a Pirate Cruise? Y'all know what i'm talking about? I have my step kiddies signed up for the one that leaves from the Grand Floridian!! I want to put them in something cute...just not sure what yet!

I think this is the last year they'll wear what I lay out for them no questions asked...already my step daughter is getting "ideas"... ;) I blame High School Musical!

any pirate cruise suggestions?

thanks everyone...y'all never cease to amaze me with your creativity!

:goodvibes

My girls went on the pirate cruise, and they do a lot of running around. I would let them wear something they can get dirty, and they may have to wear life vests anyway. My girls had pirate tees on and capris with sneakers. They went all over including to downtown disney...they had a blast.

teehee - I was looking for another photo and I came across this one so had to scan and show :)

it's of my little sisters who are now almost 20 and 18 in their pettiskirts - I'm guessing they would be 4 and 6 in this pic . So obviously someone in my family knows how to make them - now to track down who so I can get directions :)

Kelly - yay for the fabric - matching will be soooooo cute. I'm having some of that fabric sent over to make a wee outfit for em :) I'm thinking one of those smockets would be nice :)

And re the cloth bum and pants- Pockets are great as they aren't too bulky. I usually make the next size up and just adjust the legs. They seem to work ok :)

I'm waiting here (im)patiently for my cabinet to arrive, dh has just gone to get it (it's about an hour away from where we live). I'm so excited. It might be a late one for me tonight while I play :dance3:

That is too cute and it does look like one of those cost way too much outfits. I took DD to a B-day party. She was wearing a custom that I had made her and the mother of the b-day girl kept calling DD over and telling everyone that I had made the outfit.

I also have been working on panels for my Tinkerbell outfit. Here are the first two. The bottom halfs look funny but they will be cropped when I hem the skirt...but otherwise..so far so good..
306660060.jpg

I was going to wait and show you the finished outfit, but it might be next year before I ever finish it...

I found the sheet in a second hand shop..I really don't like the idea of looking for used sheets...oh, just the thought, gives me the Willies....:scared1: but this was actually in a package with a pillowcase, which seems to have gone missing, since I opened the package..:confused3 , I bet the girls have stashed it somewhere....

Okay, I'm much slower than Sugarbees, but I have been getting some outfits done for the boutique(s) we are doing.

I am sorry they are huge. I shrunk them first in photobucket, but I have been having problems with photobucket doing this for the last several days.

You've seen this one, but I finished one doll dress.
th_IMG_1059_edited.jpg

I felt like they needed "more" so I appliqued a butterfly on this one...

and a strawberry on this one...

th_IMG_1062_edited.jpg

I just stuck a piece of fabric on my scanner/copier and copied it, then enlarged it to make the applique patterns.

SOOO cute! K, I wanna start over...those turned out great! I've gotten almost all 8 outfits finished! Just gotta do the daisy on the two polka dot outfits and matching doll outfits...oh...THEY'RE almost done too! YESSSSSS!!!!!

I jsut got 3 pm's asking what tinkerbell looks like. how do you attach a pic to a PM. well until I figure that out - here it is

ADORABLE! You amaze me! :worship:

TA Dahhh!

This is the Simplicity #4206 (Sewing For Dummies) pattern I've gotten my money's worth out of. One day when window shopping on :wizard: I saw this very well done outfit with a similar color palate. These bottoms are a paisley and the top is a wee little flower print in celery, mustard and a little teal. This :wizard: was SUPER expensive and had a ton of included pieces. I just wanted the peasant top and pants. So here I go saving me a pretty penny and am really pleased. It's the first outfit I've made where I wouldn't die if any of you looked at the seams :lovestruc

(sorry so big)

SOOOO cute!!!! I LOVE the style!

Well I finally finished the outfit that I CASEd from Tom. Yeah Me!!

th_S2010077.jpg

I have no model this weekend. She went to stay the weekend with my Grandparents. They adore her and she adores them so I am the one pouting this weekend. Plus her cousins are coming in from Monroe so she will have someone to play with.

In case ya'll didn't notice I finally fixed the date on my camera. It now has the correct date and time. Yeah Me!!

LOVE the a-line!!! :lovestruc

Last night around 1 am I started making a dress for DD. This is the finished product. This is my take on the whole pirate diva thing.

th_S2010079.jpg

This is the back. The middle is supposed to look like a pirate map.
th_S2010078.jpg

And this is the front. I sure hope my Diva likes it.
This is for her to wear to WDW.

That is so dang cute! I LOVE!!! Great job..and in the middle of the night too! You rock!!!

Look what LisaZoe made for Miss Avery! She was so excited. This outfit is just too too cute Lisa! After she got it on she insisted on wearing the sash around her neck instead of in her hair. I'll do a TR when we return so everyone can see her customs at the parks. I'm almost done making her bracelets and hair accessories. :goodvibes

th_Cinderella3Medium.jpg

That is stunning! And your little munchkin is gorgeous! WOWWW!!!

I've been away for a few days, and I have caught up on reading, but I'm not going back to quote everyone.

Theresa- you are definitely a cool mama;) You know you all are:hippie:

Jham and sugarbee, I love your cute little boutique outfits. I hope they sell.

Flea- I realized that my walmart sells that tink fabric! So I bought some to make a matching dress for Julia! I was so excited!

And here is my latest creation. Zofia went to her friends bday party this morning and she told me Thurs. morn that she wanted a twirly skirt like the one I made for her. So I spent last night sewing up a gift. No model because I knew if Zoe tried it on she would somehow dirty it.

I think the mom liked it better than her daughter. :lmao: One of the other moms was inspecting it. They were like "this looks like one of those boutique outfits that cost $50. It was cool...

Adorable! Great job!

I love that sheet and the appliques. Captain Hook is one of my favorites. The sheet looks like it is brand new so hopefully nobody has slept on it before.

Love that sheet! Aqua and pink are the new colors of the day!
I love your appliques too! I really need to try to do that again! I still keep reliving the "horrid" look on Cindy's face when I tried it a few months ago! Needless to say that got double bagged and thrown in the trash! But the memories of it still haunt me!:sad2:

Love the panels. what are you planning to do with them?

Lori

Hi Everyone,,,

Such cute outfits being sewn lately!!! I love them all!!!

Does anyone have a picture or pattern of a cute tote bag they made? I have some of the pink/brown Michael Miller Eiffle tower fabric, and regular brown and pink fabric to match - just not sure how to sew it all together to make it look really cool!! Its for my 16yo DN Bekah.....any ideas would be great!!

THanks so much, Wendy

I know what you mean about the willies. As we speak there's a Bug's Life Sheet and a 101 Dalmations sheet at our local thrift store I've been looking at. I hid them so no one would buy them (yes I did! ;) ) I just want 2 squares of each. I need to be paid first from babysitting.

That was a cool find! Especially new and in the package.

You KNOW they stashed it away :rolleyes1

"What pillowcase, Mommy?"

Love the panels. what are you planning to do with them?

Lori

I'm going to make a skirt using 3 different panels with appliques, and 3 without, and the halter top will have Tinkerbell on it. I'm still trying to decide what other character I should do for the skirt. I have Hook and Peterpan, but I'm thinking maybe the Croc? for the other, or maybe Mr. Smee? I guess I will decide tomorrow...since it's sewing day...
