Mytwotinks- So who did you pick????
Do you guys all match or just have coordinating themed stuff??
You could always do a swimsuit cover up for yourself with "your" character. What about applique tees for all the sisters.
You could do some fun hair things since you like to get fun and silly.

I think I picked Snow White last summer when Kerry and I went to Disneyland. If I recall correctly it was because I too like to take a nap after I do housework. We usually bring something for each person.

I think that we are going to pick a character for each. I was thinking about getting brave and trying to do an applique for everyone. It would be either 7 or 8 this year. I have time if I start now. I just don't know if I have the talent!

Do you guys "go out" in your theme or just hang out around the cabin?

You could probably find little stuffed people from the disney store to give to each person- if you watch the sales you can get them cheap- that would be cute.

I'm sure others will come up with good ideas too and I'll keep thinking too.

Is it the pettitwirl pattern that CarlaC (LouiesMom) posted? That would be a different kind of skirt.

I used chiffon on Lydia's Giselle dress, it wasn't too hard, but I wasn't gathering it at all, just sewing it.

Thank you so much for the help Teresa. I did find the right pattern on ycmt and I bought it. I also found some fabric on :wizard: that I hope to win. I have plenty of time her bday is 7-11 but if i start to put it off thinking I have enough time then it will never get done. I already took care of the twins bday gifts and they both even made out with a princess dress. I wish I could try them on them to post pics but I know I would never get them off. So I have to waite till 5-26. Well thank you for the help. So far I am ahead of the game lets see if it stays that way.

Good Luck- I recommend taking some tylenol or ibuprofen before the numbing wears off- learn from my mistake!!!! my jaw is killing me!!
And when the dentist told me I needed a crown I said am I gonna need a root canal too- in that spitty numb mouth sorta way. Luckily he said he didn't think I needed one right now! I have had them before- So good luck and happy thoughts for tomorrow!!:flower3:

Thanks for the tip! He's not sure if he will be doing the root canal or if it will have to be pulled. Hopefully, he can save it. I HATE that numb mouth thing!! I really hate it when they numb you up, then try to have a conversation with you!

Yep, that is the right one. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Well, I better get off to bed! Night everyone!

We shop one day and that is about the only day we are out. We do wear it out if it is something wearable like the giant sunglasses or the hats.

The stuffed things would be really cute! Good idea. I'll have to start looking for a deal.

Here they are!

Seriously I love that style of outfit! and the fabrics are just soooo cute. Don't you just love that white and purple princess one? I adore it.

There's a really easy way to make pants with or without a side seam, as long as it's for a kid, or pajama pants. :)

To make pants with a side seam:

Cut 4 rectangles of fabric. The measurements are:

Width: 1/4 the hip measurement (Or waist measurement, whichever's bigger) of the person the pants are for plus 2.5" (3.5" for an adult)

Length: Outseam measurement (waist to ankle) plus 2.5"

Put two rectangles right sides together and cut a "J" out of one top-side of both rectangles. The J should be about 9-10" high and 2" deep. Similar to the cut out of a peasant top arm-hole. (does this make sense??)

sew the "j"'s together.

Do the same thing on the other 2 rectangles.

Open up both sets, and line up the pants with the J's in the center, and sew up one leg and down the other. Then sew together the ouside seams.

Turn under .5" at the top ans sew down, then turn under 1" and sew that down leaving room for elastic (or a waistband). use 3/4" elastic or a drawstring fo the waistband.

Hem legs.

For Side seam free pants:

Make TWO rectangles, the same length as above and twice the width as above.

Put the two rectangles right sides together and cut the "j"'s on BOTH top corners of the rectangles.

Sew both sets of J's together.

open up the pants with the J's lined up in the middle, and sew up the inside seams.

Do the waistband the same, and hem.

Clear as mud?

The pants are pretty unconstructed, and on adults can be prettty wide-legged. I do this for all of my kids pants and shorts.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. The "j" is harder to explain than it is to do.

You know....I actually GET IT!! SHOCKING! hahaha but I do, you all should be :cool1: for me! I have tomorrow off. Soo after I work in Georgia's class, I want to cut some fabric, then go back to pick her up, then have girl scouts and once they leave I want to sew them up. Then I am thinking about taking Georgia to see HM 3D if its still playing at our tiny place here in town. Then come home cook and clean. Hang with the fam. and then SEW SEW SEW more! hahaha

Hopefully I will have pictures to post tomorrow.

Megan wore her Marie outfit to school today (it is Tuesday so she could match her underwear) and lost one of her bows. :headache:

This is what I did today:

IMG_0076.jpg

It was my first try with the ribbed knit around the collar, it got a little bunched in places. I made this a whole size bigger so hopefully he can wear it next winter too. He probably won't like spongebob next year! I would apologize for his hair, but he wears it this way on purpose. All the boys in his class do, I blame Zac Efron.

hahaha that is right Tuesday, matching panties! I totally thought of that this morning when I brought out Georgia's clothing and she went and grabbed her Minnie mouse panties to match her Minnie Mouse shirt to wear! I guess it has started over here too!

That Spongebob looks great!

I haven't posted in awhile, so I thought I would pop on and say hi!! We leave for our trip this Sat, and I can hardly stand it!!

I wanted to also share my boys Peter Pan outfits that my aunt handpainted for the boys. I also had 2 outfits made from :wizard: for them to wear. LOL!!

Here is the Peter Pan outfits!

OMG Georgia would love that Peter! She LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES Peter!

How cute! Tessa is sitting next to me and she said "Oh, she is such a cute girl! What is her name?" I said Leigh Anna. She said "Oh, she has such a cute name!" She also requested that the part from her be purple. :rotfl:

This is so funny because Georgia ALWAYS asks the same thing "oh she is beautiful in that beautiful dress, whats her name" If I am lucky I will know who it is. haha then she will do the same Ooh that is lovely. haha She is on a kick with the word lovely. Kind of like me and Rad! Yep we are dorks in this house.

I swear I am hogging the board right now. hahaha well be glad I am done with it for now. ahahahaha I am going to bed. I think I am calmed down enough from work! FInally.

I am really excited to get some pants going tomorrow. I have TONS of fabric I bought long ago to make her some pants. Hopefully I have enough now. YIKES! Other wise she will have some super cute capri pants

I love everyone's new stuff! I am almost finished with Kenzie's AK dress, and will post some pics. I need to add straps and applique and then I am finished. These two dresses have given me a headache!!!!!! I don't know what's wrong with my measuring, but it was way off on both these dresses!:rotfl: Easily fixed, but still annoying. Anyway...

Heather, Love Sawyer!!! He is such a cutie in his prince outfit!

Lori, those outfits are adorable. You have been working hard!

Brightvalleyjrts, I LOVE the Peter pan outfits! My DD absolutely LOVes Peter Pan! She says he is her boyfriend. I am trying to figure out an outfit I can applique Peter on. Just haven't got the inspiration yet.

Princess Leigh's Daddy, So cute! I love the fabrics you used, and your DD is an angel.

Princess Kel, your DS's pjs look as if you bought them. Great Job!

ANd if I forgot anyone, sorry! Everyone's been busy bees around here! It is pouring the snow here, and I am crossing my fingers for a snow day. Right now we are on a two hour delay. I am hoping for a sewing day.

I ordered some minnie dot fabric from :wizard: and got it yesterday, so I need to plan that outfit. I think I may try to tackle one of those flowers like Mytwotinks made. IDK, but I am going to be busy. But my trip is about a month away, and I don't want to be sewing right at the last minute. But, I probably will.:rolleyes1

Ok, I wanted to make one of the face dresses that everyone makes, but my daughter is just too little right now. The face is as big as she is, so this is what I made. I plan to save the projects until she gets a little bigger.

I think it came out great!! and your model is a doll!! You're so lucky that you began sewing for her at such a young age. I didn't even think of it, until mine was at least 3 or 4. It's a shame that I lost out on making all of those baby and toddler clothes.

Very cute! I bet that will fit her perfectly next year.

HELP!!!

I need all of you creative ladies and guy to help me out! Every summer my sister's and I have a girl's weekend and my sister Kerry's cabin. Every year we pick a theme. Here we are last year at our cowboy hat/piggy tail themed weekend. I know we are huge dorks, but that was actually the most normal. Some of our other themes have been...... Giant sunglasses (we all came home with huge white circles around our eyes) Do rags, whale diving competition (we were feeling a little chubby that year!), big straw hat, Pink Flamingo.... Well you get the point, it can be literally anything. You just have to wear it all weekend!

girlsweekend.jpg

Well, this years theme is Disney! My 2 older sisters are going to be evil stepmother and maleficent because they are Disney party poopers! They actually chose those characters. We also take any daughter's who are over 20. I just didn't want to wait for photo-bucket to load them!

My plea is this - Help me think of some fun things that I can make us for the weekend!!!!

I was thinking maybe a swimsuit cover up in some of the princess prints. I really like this one I bought last year and if I can figure out shirring it should be pretty easy.

lakechrisdenise.jpg

I'm not sure about fitting everyone though. I really don't want to hurt any feelings. Not a good way to start the weekend!

Anyway, I am open to all and any suggestions!

I just gotta say this sounds like SO MUCH fun! What a neat idea!

For the bathing suit cover ups - when you shir, doesn't it really stretch to fit a wide variety of sizes? So if you could figure out the shirring, one size would fit a large variety of sizes? I may be wrong, but for some reason, that's what I thought.

Another idea - you could do simple bath wraps made from towels, and embroider a coordinating character on the bottom.

Wow am I behind lol. I have been painting my living room dining room and kitchen are almost done I just have trim to paint. :)

I would love opinions though! I got this yesterday for my foster boy room. I bought a set and this is the top sheet. I have a blue top sheet that would match it and I really like the mickey sheet. I am seriously considering keeping it to use as fabric. What do you think is the print to big?

It really is a blast! We all 4 look forward to it all year. We are very different with very different lives, so this is really a time for us to just be together!
