Disaster Followed Us to Disney! A May SWW Report- Updated 10/28- Pics of CBR and AK!

Been away for way to long but I promise I am planning on finishing this TR. Just been crazy busy. Summer came and Luke's seizures became a real nightmare. He starting having numerous grand mals and even regressed because of the constant brain resetting. Then, Stephen had a heart attack and that threw us for a loop. They are both much better now, both are on meds that control thier issues. Kara moved out right after WDW and in with her boyfriend. It kind of broke my heart, making it hard for me to enjoy. Add in that I have become caregiver for my two neices ages 1 and 2, who will definitely be a part of our next family vacation, and you can see I havent had even five minutes for fun or Disney. I am planning another trip for 2012 or 2013, not sure which. Jess would like to go for her 16th birthday but its in Dec so not sure. She cant miss school so we would have to do a thanksgiving trip or a Christmas trip and I am just not sure I want to do either. I think it might be easier to celebrate her bday a bit late at Disney and do a spring break trip. What do you all think?

Well I think you should come in both 2012 and 2013, lol!! Any time is a good time to celebrate. If you go after her birthday then she'd be old enough for some of the tours, ie segway!!

The next morning, I was up bright and early. I intended to go get coffee but Luke woke up while I was getting ready and he had Stephen and Jess up shortly after. We had breakfast in our room and decided not to wait on Kara or Spencer since they wanted to sleep through their vacation. Got to the bus stop only to see the AK bus leave. Waited, saw twenty or so busses stop but none for AK. After a good hour wait, we finally were on our way. We arrived at AK around 10 am so about an hour after park opening. We went through security which according to Luke took forever and then our plans changed. Luke decided he did not want to go to the Boneyard as planned. He wanted to go to Camp Minnie-Mickey instead, so we headed there. We saw Lilo and Stitch on the way, then saw Thumper, Pocohantas and Goofy.

After this, we saw FOTLK, which we all loved. I really am glad I finally got to see it. It was a wonderful show and the kids loved it too. I thought it would be too loud for Luke and had his earmuffs ready only to find that he was completely immersed in the show. I did feel bad though cause I didnt notice until the show was nearly over but there was a boy in front of us that was really struggling with the noise. Wish I would have seen him sooner and offered our earmuffs.

After FOTLK, we decided to have lunch. Kara and Spencer finally decided to wake up and come to the park and they joined us for lunch. We ate at Flame Tree BBQ which was really good. I had the BBQ Pork sandwich, Stephen had the 1/2 chicken and Jess had the Turkey Sandwich. Luke had to get a kids meal so he got the chicken leg meal. Kara and Spencer had the Chicken/rib combo. We all had chocolate mousse. Way to much food. Should have split some. It was excellent though. Jess was the only one who was not happy. She ate practically nothing. She has some issues with food textures so this is nothing new. Wish I had thought to take pics.

After lunch, Kara and Spencer took Luke and Jess to ride KRR. While they rode thier ride twice, we went and got FP for KS and EE. We still had some time, so we shopped and just enjoyed the kid free moment. They came back from KRR soaked. Thankfully, Kara had managed to remind Luke to take off his shoes so they were still dry. He did not like being wet but was in comfortable clothing that dried quickly in the heat so that helped.

After this, we split from Kara and Spencer and they went on to ride EE four times and we went to ride KS.
After KS, we headed to the conservation station, which Jess loved. She spent 2 hours talking with a CM about the college program and Luke sat on a bench and cooled off while watching conservation videos.
We saw a few characters, took lots more pictures, played the drums, and finally ended the day at the boneyard.

We had a 6:15 ADR to RFC so we headed there around 6. Got there with plenty of time to spare and got a table quickly. We split Lava Nachos, Pita Quesidillas and Kara and Spencer both ordered a meal- coconut shrimp. After, we had a volcano and Kara got Happy Birthday sung to her. We shopped for a bit after and then headed back to the bus stop. The bus showed up in minutes and we were on our way back to the resort.

Once at the resort, we took Luke back to the room and got him ready for bed. He was asleep by 8:30. Kara and Spencer offered to watch him in the room and Stephen and I decided to head down to the bar for a drink. I had a pina colada which was great and Stephen had a Sam Adams. Then we walked around the resort and finally settled in a hammock and enjoyed the fireworks together.

The room was fun. Kids loved the pirate theme.

Location was fine for us. We were close to a bus stop and while we were not that close to OPR, the walk through the beautiful resort did not bother us one bit. It did not feel crowded, was quite tranquil.

The main pool was always crowded, almost too crowded for us to enjoy but Luke liked the pirate themed kid pool.

The bus service was awful. Never once had a morning where we did not wait atleast an hour.
