Disappointing 7/4 Eastern Magic Cruise

I really hate to report that the Disney "magic" on the Magic seemed to be missing on our July 4-11 cruise. It was our second DCL cruise (1st was in September 2007, 7-night Western) and we had high expectations. The first indication things were not going well was when we got into our stateroom (2034, outside) and found the bed sagging. My husband has back problems and needs a good, firm bed -- which we had on our first Disney cruise. Our stateroom host, Tri (the same one we had in 07 -- he's fantastic!), did all he could to get it to a usable state but it was miserable. The staff claimed they could not replace the bed during the cruise and it was booked so no other staterooms to move to.

We also noticed a big change in the food. It was very hit or miss. I'm a vegetarian and I remembered that Disney usually had lots of non-meat choices on the menu. There were always 2 choices at dinner. The first few nights were pretty good but by the 4th night the quality started to decline. One night I sent my dish back and asked for the other veg dish. The first one was absolutely awful! My family, who are not vegetarians, were disappointed with their food as well. Surprisingly, the food at Topsider's buffet seemed better this time than in 07. I will say the dessert buffet was excellent. Palo was great, too.

We got off the ship on Saturday morning and headed over to WDW for a surprise trip with our 2 teens. We actually had more fun in those 2 days than the 7 days on the cruise -- and it was a LOT cheaper!

We've decided not to take another Disney cruise until the new ships are available. Maybe we'll try it again then.

Sorry you didn't have such a good time. My last cruise was last Sept and we had a blast but I heard there have been some subtle changes with the economy and all. Hope things perk up before my cruise next Sept.
