Disappointed

This is just my opinion and I understand if you don't agree with my thoughts. I am very disappointed with the Poly DVC. The Poly has always been my favorite Disney hotel. I had high expectations.

The decor of the studio is not impressive. I feel the old hotel rooms had more living space in them than the converted DVC studios.

The points needed for a bungalow stay are astronomical. You can buy a house for what it would cost for one week a year even for the next 50.

Oh well, I knew I wasn't going to buy here and now I doubt I will even stay here.

Did I forget about the lack of unit sizes....

I had higher expectations for the studio fixtures and furnishings because it was a conversion, not new construction. Aside from the tiki table lamp and foldaway bed, the room is not overly Polynesian/Adventureland to me.

Or the posts from people who thought the decor looked too much like their grandmother's living room?

Or the posts complaining that the VGF point chart was astronomical compared to resorts built more than 10 years before?

Or the posts from people who complained that you couldn't walk to the Magic Kingdom like you could at BLT?

Or the posts from people who said anyone was absolutely crazy to spend $145 or $150 a point for VGF?

Yes, there were some negative comments with VGF, but not to the extent of PVB. Most people were posting how lovely they were and the attention to detail.

I am just not getting any positive vibe about PVB.

I specifically remember several posts stating that the "smart money" was on the Polynesian.

I'm sure they took all of this into account in the planning phases. While I personally think they missed opportunities such as a step up studio, I'm sure they had their reasons for the choices they made. All that has to happen is for people to collectively not buy and not stay there to prove the point but I doubt that will happen. At the end of the day it is what it is and in many ways, any new resort is a plus even if it doesn't interest you or I.

I think this is just another YMMV kind of thing. I came into DVC because of interest into the Poly. I bought AKL resale for lower points for family vacations but also to get into the Poly pre-sale. My husband and I stay at the Poly every year for the marathon -- even if at rack rate. I run the Goofy, and it is, for me, the most convenient resort. I can sleep an extra 30 minutes at least on two race days by staying at the Poly. I love the atmosphere and the vibe. It fits me and my situation. I bought in on day one and am very happy with my decision. I like the theming. The rooms work for me. Naturally, I wish it were cheaper. I honestly would REALLY like a washer and dryer. However, no big complaints for me.

And, I personally believe that for the time I want to be at the Poly, I need home court advantage. I would struggle to get a room at all. I could likely never get Lagoon view (which I want).

My recollection on VGF was about 70% positive 30% negative with the negative mostly having to do with point chart. This is looking like 80% negative 20% positive. ..huge difference.

The Poly DVC wasn't built for existing DVC owners, it was built for the Poly lovers who can now own a piece of their favorite resort by becoming new DVC members.

I personally like the décor of the studios a lot (and love the décor of the bungalows). I think it strikes a good balance between fun and tasteful. If it were more "themed", I would be concerned it could have gone overboard into tacky. I can understand the concern about not very much storage, but it will be perfect for my daughter and I to spend a couple of nights. We always like to do split stays, and I hardly ever completely unpack I will definitely take this studio setup over what they have done to VWL and are planning to do to BCV and BWV

This. Disney has done such a good job recently with the Adventureland merchandise at Co-op and the details like the Tiki bowls for Dole Whips are so cute, I was hoping to see that eye for detail in the Poly. DVC villas. The studios are pretty, and I actually like the color palette. It just feels like the details of the room fell short for me.

My view of the new Poly DVC. I never had any intentions of buying at the Poly,
but with Disney adding so many studio units ( usually we stay in studios) it increases my chances of staying there at the 7 month window. That's why I like the new Poly.

As for decor of the new units, I really need to see it in person to comment on!

I like the décor also. Not as over the top as some places. Looks comfortable without being stuffy or tacky.
