I just got back from my 18th cryise and always had the unlimited package from the time they introduced them… but this is the first time to be so disappointed in them…
I sailed the Magic to Iceland, an 11n cruises and ended up with about 200 photos less than my 9n Greek isles cruise in June even though I still went to every charactermeet and did most of the portraits. Now thats not my mainissue, just somethibg I noticed:

1. Despite explicite requests from my side for candid character oics some photographers even walked off staring outside etc when I was talking/ interacting with the characters. I just have a handful of candids.

2. I checked the kiosk daily but online all of a sudden I have photos missing and none of my photos on the last night are missing. The automatic email reply is tellibg me Ill have to wait up to 30 days for a reply

3. I have over 170 photos of complete strangers in my account

4. The framing of the photos is terrible: people that were waitibg in the side of the pictures, uncentred oucs, eother cur off feet or lots of space around us, the oiano player in the background completely in focus so not really backgroubd but part of the pics, sideway angled pics, no close ups with the characters etc

5. Once downloading the order of the oics gets entirely lixed uo, that combined with wrong data stamps (sometimes 2 dats off) made it a 6h job to download, delete what wasnt mine and organise the photos…

I never asked any greeters to take pics on my camera cause of the package but I will need to rethink my strategy for next week…

That’s horrible. I’m so sorry that happened. I would be very upset too.
Yeah :-( I'm sailing again on the Magic on Sunday for a b2b BI and TA. I'm saving some 'wonderful' examples on my phone and I'm gonna try to talk on the ship to the officer in charge of the team...

I guess I’m surprised you ever had good photos from DCL. Every cruise I go to see if there is a nice photo of my family to buy and frame and in 5 cruises I have never bought a single photo worth buying. In contrast to WDW where I often find lovely family photos.

I care more about the character photos than the actual portraits (solo traveller) I like candids more than posed pics but I find it always a bit challenging to obtain candids... usually the photographers finally get it by the end of the cruise... now they never got it and the posed ones are just worse than a very mediocre amateur.... may be a starting amateur

I too hate that happened with you. Something similar has happened to us. Our embarkation photos are missing. Would you mind sharing the email you used? I want to email and hopefully try to get them. Thanks so much.

I tried the contact us option on the website and chose the cruise photos option but that kept giving me the 'try later' message I then called DCL to ask ad they told me to use the generic guest com mail: dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

In my opinion, also in the parks very little photographers understand or even know that a candid shots are better for memories than a posed shot.

They probably are instructed this way. But still, it is a shame.

I only have done one cruise, but my main reason not to go for a photo package are the skills of the photographer and the lighting in character pics. Weirdly framed, feet cut off etc. The pics the CM took with my camera were just as good or better.

This sounds just awful and very upsetting. The packages are expensive and photos are important souvenirs to many guests, DCL really needs to do better.

I don't think they WILL take pics anymore...

So sorry this happened. :(
that changed over the Summer. In June on my greek isles they didnt but now they did.. I just didnt want to bother them since I had the photopackage... but guess I'll have to accept their offer again...

That is disappointing as we too love the candid photos of the kids interacting with characters.

I don't think there are enough good photographers to fill the positions and this is where we are. And rather than train folks it sounds like the approach is to not worry about it.

My favorite Disney photographer worked in Animal Kingdom at the Mickey and Minnie meet in 2019. He was all over the room from every angle, including getting on his stomach on the floor. He was incredible and I wanted to take photo of *him* working.😄 I did leave a glowing cast compliment.

We had an amazing photographer like that at Artist Point with the Evil Queen. She got soo many candidates and had my DD do various poses with the evil queen. I think we had close to 30 pictures from that photographer! It was awesome!
