Had dinner there on Saturday night, my first experience. Everything was prepared very well and the service and ambiance were perfectly fine.

But wow a very limited menu and overpriced for sure. And having to pay for bread service is ridiculous. Cali Grill and Citricos by comparison blow this place away. Would not recommend. Save some money and go to Goofy Kitchen.

Yeah, bread service at all Disney restaurants I know went away after covid.

Surprised honestly they haven't starting charging for refills at Restaurant's yet for Soda/tea. Disney just wants to nickle and dime you every chance they can

100% agree with this. Not only ridiculously overpriced for what you get (and we love Victoria & Albert's, the recently-reno'd Narcoossee's and other nice Disney spots), but the food quality was just, well, good (as in okay). Not great or premium by any means. My steak was barely okay, but not as good as other nice Disney restaurants. I was quite surprised at the mediocre quality. A single scallop (as in one) for over $30 is a bit ridiculous. Again, it was okay, but nothing special.

On top of all that, you're paying beyond top dollar and it felt like a quick service ambiance with guests with backpacks hanging off of chairs, people wearing ball caps while eating and so on. This was a Saturday night dinner. I get that it's a Disney restaurant, but at least have a small bit of decorum. Would not recommend for all of these reasons.

On the other hand, the Princess Breakfast there is much more enjoyable.

Haven’t eaten at Napa Rose but not having bread service sucks because it’s expensive and you don’t get much (Carthay Circle, Blue Bayou, and Naples even though I know it’s not Disney).

I hear ya. I'd much rather go to Carthay Circle restaurant. Napa Rose has always been a disappointment to me since Covid and even at times before that. I go with my sister and for some reason we're often left feeling unwelcome and/or ignored, which is a hard to accept when you fork over that much money.

I loved going into what used to be the lounge area near the fireplace for dessert etc later in the evening. They also had a wonderful flatbread pizza. I miss those days.

I don't understand the free refills mentality, which began sometime in the '80s. Who needs a quart of sugary (or chemical) drink? We're killing ourselves with these addictions.

Yeah, I don't drink sodas and can't even imagine being ABLE to drink a refill. But I do drink coffee and I like refills on that. Many would argue it's also bad for you and has harmful chemicals but I guess we pick our poison. However, I agree that we seem to have lost the concept of moderation when it comes to food and drink. And everything else, I suppose.

This is where someone needs to respond, "Ok, Boomer."

Let it be me...🤣😂..."OK,Boomer".... :rotfl2: Takes one to know one, right?

Since i only drink water anymore, hopefully I'll continue to get free refills, although I make it a habit to never drink Anaheim tap water...not as bad asFlorida but still not great 😂

To me Napa Rose is very nice, but I have to admit, if I was out in the normal dining room, I think I would be disappointed with the cost/size/quality. That said, they claim they change the menu about every two to three weeks, so that could help explain some of the limited selection. I also noticed stuff on the menu that can take significant prep time (a pork wellington last week) so I'm sure they try to limit it to also nudge more people towards something like the wellington so they're not either wasting a bunch, or having people wait an hour plus for it to be made.

I agree. I think free refills has greatly contributed to obesity. The restaurants charge more for a drink because they offer free refills, so you fell like you have to drink more to get your money's worth.

Its a Personal Choice

Most of the Foods and Drinks at Disneyland are not good for you with the exceptions of salads and even then we put dressing on those
But once your 18 you have the choice on what you put in your body. Disney didn't stop doing refills or bread for free because of health its about saving like 5 cents

I agree with you about Carthay!! So you can't sit in lounge at NR by fireplace for dessert anymore? Darn. I also wasn't able to sit at the Hearthstone without an ADR last visit--do you know if that is still true?

That's a rather foolish response, as Disney treats are a one-off on the days that you're there, but the pervasive free refills is a mentality that everyone's gotten used to.

Still, I get your point, with a small correction: Only men can control what they put into (or take out of) their own bodies, in the US at least.

Last month we ate at Hearthstone and were able to make a reservation a couple of hours in advance. When we arrived there were people checking in without reservations. Just like at Craftsman, they tell walk ins how long they expect the wait to be, they take their phone number, and text them when their table is ready. I imagine the wait is longer during lunch and dinner and probably less in the evenings during the park shows and fireworks.

Regarding Napa Rose, I've never tried sitting in the lounge for dessert. However, we once tried for a walk up dinner and were seated in the lounge. Our service in the lounge was so bad that we stopped going to Napa Rose. A couple of months ago, we made a reservation and gave them a try again. Service was much better than our lounge experience.

To me, the service there has never been excellent. I hold it to a higher standard because part of what you are paying for is the service and experience. I would expect their top wait staff to be working there. In reality, I've received better service at other DLR restaurants.

I'm glad LKing answered your question. My experience regarding NR for dessert was no, although you could put your name on a waitlist or something in case of a no-show but you had to hang around and you couldn't choose where to sit.

I think there were a lot fewer people going in later back before it was remodeled and they hadn't yet instituted the current reservation system so it was easier to just drop in later for dessert or apps.

Both Napa Rose and Victoria and Albert's have been pretty mediocre since covid. Most people that drink a ton seem to like it, but the food itself is not worth the expense.
