Disappointed in Disney pins

I remember the good old days around 2013 when Canadian dollar wasn't at 75c and I got a pin from Disney that gave me free dining at French quarter.
Today I got my first pin for the summer in years. It was for 30% off deluxe and 15% off French quarter and riverside. Called the returning guest deal.
I was excited to price it- it cost more that the deal that's been available for weeks. French quarter was on the fine print, but not in the resorts to book.
Glad we have the bounce back from last trip, but got a feeling we are not going to get a free dining bounce back this trip.

I know - business, make money, resorts full. But the excitement of my pin faded into a bloody Disney rant. I actually remember telling someone that you didn't have to pay for fastpasses in 2010 because Disney is awesome. Won't catch me saying that anymore!

If you give me your pin code I promise I won't complain about it.

We used to get PIN codes, both electronically and snail mail with some regularity, but I bet its been at least three years since I've actually seen one, maybe longer. Its possible we have some assigned to our name and I don't know about it, but that well seems to have dried up.

If you used the code you will pay more than both deals on the website now. Why would you pay more for the same thing?
That pin code came out a long time ago, so you're not going to find availability this late ... I started a thread for the next UOC...your best bet is to watch the board, call and have them check your last name the day it comes out because waiting longer than a week means you're not going to have much luck getting anything ( this comes from personal experience I'm not trying to be negative )

I had no problem getting a reservation with this summer pin. Disney just sent this email. But it was way more money than the two summer deals on the Disney website which I can also book. A few hundred dollars more.
A few years ago the pin was a great deal. I was so excited to use it.
This new pin, which I can use- but won't because it cost more money than the summer deals already out.
I'm booked on a bounce back. I was just surprised when I checked out this pin it was a bad deal. Pins used to be great- now the counter service free dining saves more than this return guest pin.
