Disadvantage of staying on site (vs AP only) for park reservations?

Have you already tried to book the park passes you want?

No we’re not ready to do so as some folks in our party have not yet bought Park passes for our Nov trip. I’m just curious about those who might have an upcoming stay over the next month or two where availability shows for AP but not for resort guests, and if there is a workaround via IT etc.

I’m curious if it automatically gives you the benefit of park pass availability since you fall into two categories? I will be following to see what peoples experiences are.

You only get to be pull from AP holder bucket if you are not part of a reservation. You could remove yourself from the reservation, but then will be limited to only 3 days, even if staying more,

So, you either get the benefit of being a resort guest as an AP holder, and can book as many days as you want attached to stays,

Or, you get to pull from the AP bucket and will be limited, Now, if you are not stay g more than 3 days, it is worth the try to remove yourself, and then put yourself back in? So far, people have reported that park reservations don’t go away, but it could be a gamble if they did.

Yes that’s my understanding as well. It just seems crazy that folks with resort reservations don’t take priority over those with only AP’s. DVC aside, you would think Disney would want to use that as a carrot to book more rooms?

From what I was told, the buckets are not equal and resort guest bucket is larger for sure.

However, this is part of why they have not yet reinstated sales of APs. They are already limited to only 3 and if one started to be allowed to dip into either bucket as an AP holder with a reservation then AP holder without would have paid for something not useable.

So, I do think it makes sense. Now, I have read that closer to dates if one bucket still has days that Disney will reshuffle then.

For example, next week there are days for just AP holders. If it gets to be a day or two before and those are still open, there is a very good chance that beyond the scenes they will shift and move to resort guests.

Don't you think park capacity will increase by November? I do. :)

Regardless of whether or not you have an AP, if you have a resort reservation linked to MDE you fall into that bucket on the days of the resort reservation. If you do not have a reservation or you have it and it is not linked to MDE yet then you fall into the AP bucket.

When we were able to get a last minute reservation to Poly a few weeks ago we tried changing out last day from HS to MK but MK was sold out to resort guests so it would not allow us to get it. We called the AP line and they unlinked the resort reservation from our MDE temporarily, booked the park pass for us as an AP (since no more resort reservation in MDE), and then linked the reservation back.

Exactly what I was wondering… Thanks so much!
