Disabled Disney resort guest parking at other resorts for visits (Disney transport option not really viable) your help please and thanks 🙏

Hi All,

(I have posted similar if it looks familiar to some on another thread, but was recommended I post in this more expert group. Thank you!)

We will have a severely wheelchair disabled member of our group who won't be able to do much park time, but loves the resorts just to look around and grab quick service etc.

Nice way to pass time relaxed in the cool.

However, I've read that although we are resort guests staying on Disney property elsewhere they won't let us park at the other resorts even for limited times.
Understandably because some seem to be using it as a parking loophole for parks etc. this is not our intention at all but to stay at the resort a while to explore and such.

There have been recommendations to use Disney transportation but with their disability there's no way we can take them to TTC or Springs or a park etc on a bus and out to a resort and back again.

But if the guards won't let us in I guess this is not going to be possible? They have disabled placard but again I guess irrelevant to alternative resort parking policy. Can any of you offer advice or tips I'm maybe missing? One kind suggestion has been to ask the guard if we could use the valet parking option with our disabled placard. It’s something much looked forward to as the parks will be very hard going and only possible for very short bursts, as well as trying the counter services, cafes etc in the resorts for something interesting to do, I’m hoping it might be possible.

We will make it work one way or another. I only posted here as fellow members posting in my other post had suggested I post here for any depth of expertise and experience. I think many were curious as to why Disney transporation is absolutely out of the question...

You got a lot of good info on your other post.

I'd recommend having an ADR for the resorts you want to visit. That would make this much less stressful.

You could also park at DS and walk over to Saratoga Springs as well as park at HS and walk over to the EPCOT area resorts. (If doing that with the wheelchair is possible?)

Am I correct? You have a disabled friend at a Disney Resort. You would like to go to their resort and spend time visiting with them at their resort. Yes?

You are also staying on Disney property. Why not catch a bus (from your hotel) to a Disney theme park. Once there, hop on a bus that takes you to your friend's resort. As long as you don't swim in the pool, I don't believe that you are doing anything against Disney policy.

Hi cruising spud, thanks for your kind reply. No we are a family. And we are staying on deluxe resorts for quite a while, and one of our group who is unfortunately very unwell, would enjoy visiting other resorts as they won’t be up to being in the parks as much as they once did but we want to so things as a family. And Disney transport will be a little too much for them to manage back and forth with connections. So it was just if there was any tips for getting to the resorts in our car to visit without ADRs just for them to enjoy the resort shops and a snack etc, we have no intent of using the resorts as car parks for other activities etc. but it seems that it’s most unlikely that we’ll be able to get in, although maybe possible at some and again with valet it seems it *may* be possible. But it seems quite stressful which won’t be ideal so we may well just leave it which is sad but so be it. I appreciate you taking time to enquire and assist. Have a good day

Already mentioned in.a different thread. Guests with handicapped placard or plate get complimentary valet parking. Valet parking isn't generally restricted.

Thanks LewisC I absolutely took your advice on board, and thank you very much. I’m just a little nervous that there is that chance from other peoples replies, that the guards can be very strict, and getting them our family member in and out of the car for a failed trip would not be fair on them. So just trying to balance that chance with my worries and concerns for them, all while trying to still make memories. Thanks all very much. We’ll work it out somehow

You always have the option of an accessible minnie van. It's available through the Lyft app. It's clearly marked so it won't be confused with a regular Minnie van.
If you really wish to use your vehicle have you considered making a lunch reservation at a resort and then using the handicapped placard valet option?

I don't remember a single poster being turned away from valet parking.
Valet is a tipped position. Keys and a tip should be an automatic yes.

Have a plan B. GF valet is backed up from weddings or conventions. The issue could be how long you have to wait for the valet. Go to the POLY.

We were there earlier this year with handicap placard. Unless you're a guest or confirmed reservation at that specific resort, you'll be turned away at the gate.

You can certainly fib and perhaps get through, but we were turned away at Beach Club while staying at the Grand Floridian. Was told to get transport to do resort hopping

We have a placard. Allows us to use valet, but only with an ADR. I had read recently that restrictions were being relaxed and entry allowed for dining without reservations (like at Trader Joes) but when we attempted it we were denied.
