My friend has been on disability for the past 10 years. She is improving little by little and through surgeries is getting better. If she eventually improves to the point where she is no longer disabled, does she automatically lose part A if her benefits from disability cease? She declined Part B because of her husband's employment. She never even knew she had A. Her husband has really good insurance and the primary coverage always covered 100% so B would have not added to anything. So if she told her DR she felt better and was no longer disabled, would ALL benefits cease until she reached retirement age? From everything I read, it seems Part A does not cover much unless paired with B. :confused3 So why is it offered?

Part A covers in hospital expenses. I am also on my wife's insurance and don't have part B. Her insurance is primary so if I have met my out of pocket requirements the don't even charge medicare. If she loses he social security disability she will lose medicare.

Yes, if you lose disability and are no longer eligible for a check, you lose medicare also.
