Is anybody here familiar with *********** It is a forum that is supposed to be dedicated to free speech and allowing people a space to talk about celebrities, mostly social media celebrities and influencers, without having their opinions / comments censored and deleted. They advocate for allowing people to speak freely, express any opinion and to hold account those who monetize their personal lives and put them out in the public domain. I stumbled across this cesspool of hypocrisy when I was doing some google searches on WDW vloggers. They have threads dedicated to trashing and criticizing vloggers and influencers of all sort, but all of the popular WDW vloggers are there. The threads spew hatred and vitriol about these people and also share some of there personal information. They make comments about their relationships and their appearances. They spread rumors and on at least one occasion may have outed someone. They talk about sexual preferences, eating habits, clothing styles etc. The site is considered one of the most toxic places on the internet. I am here to say that not only are they THAT, but they are hypocrites. The site is run by and frequented by hate filled, jealous people, who want to make themselves feel better by bullying those they are jealous of.

I established an account and posted a comment in a forum about one of my favorite Disney vloggers. In that comment, I expressed my opinions about that vlogger. I expressed that his vlogging persona, was just that, a persona and for members to call him a fake and a con-man, while making fun of his weight, eating and drinking habits and his personal life, were just rants by those who were jealous of him and his success. I shared that I was a subscriber to his channel but was not a patreon of his. I also expressed that I do not think its stupid or naïve to be a patreon of his and support his vlogging. I think he creates fun, positive, up-beat videos that satisfy my WDW fix, when I cannot be in the parks. I don't think he deceives people or is a con-man. I think people have free will and if they watch his content and enjoy it and want to support it, so he can continue to make more of the content that they enjoy then so be it. This forum not only makes fun of the vlogger himself, but anyone who enjoys his content. The most vile comments are reserved for those who send him gifts or support him through patreon.

In my comment, I expressed my opinion about the vlogger and his persona. I also shared that anyone who supports him are supporting his content because they enjoy it and not out of pity for him. I indicated that I felt those who enjoy him do so because they understand he is playing a role and like his vlogs because they get to see the parks, ride some rides, try some new foods and drinks and get to do all of this with a smile and positivity. I don't feel anyone is being duped by this vlogger or are sending money because they pity him or are being conned by him. Lastly I called out the members of the forum for being toxic, spreading hatred and doing so because they are jealous that this person makes a living vlogging about WDW. They are obviously jealous of celebrities and vloggers / influencers because they make their money and get fame and attention (gifts, etc.) for doing something they wish they could do.

Needless to say, that within 5 minutes of me posting my one and only comment, I was banned from the site for spam. What a joke. These people are such hypocrites. They talk about providing a space to express opinions without having comments censored, deleted or having accounts banned and I was banned after posting one comment. Of course I was banned because my opinion was the opposite of opinions being expressed on the forum. My comment wasn't just deleted, I wasn't warned or told my comment was off topic. My account was banned and so was the email that I established the account under. All because I expressed support for this vlogger and pointed out that most of their toxicity was rooted in Jealousy and unhappiness in their own lives. So much for free speech and a safe place to express an opinion without fear of censorship. I didn't last 5 minutes. LOL

They probably banned you because you didn’t lower yourself to their standards. Sites like that are just trash. I’m pretty sure I know what vlogger you are talking about. He’s one of my favorites and I always look forward to watching him. He has created such a look for himself with his fedoras. 😊

"The rule".

Simple answer... don't like the way a web page/business is run, don't frequent them. Why people need to make it a point to let others know they don't like a website is beyond me. I had never heard of the site you mention.

I agree with you and generally do not call out like this. I just simply do not use the site. In this circumstance, I wanted to establish an account, say my peace, in one simple post, see some of the reaction from the toxic dullards and delete my account. What I did not expect was that I was going to have my post deleted and my account blocked within minutes. I started the thread here just to share how hypocritical I felt that the site was, for deleting my comment and banning me for expressing an opinion in contrast to theirs. I am not trying to discourage anyone from visiting, looking at, joining, or posting content on that site. I am a true believer in the 1st amendment. I do not think any content should be censored. I have had comments deleted on this site and although I don't agree with it, I still love it here and encourage all of my DisFriends to join in on the fun. Have a blessed day

Sorry that happened to you. Look on the bright side, though - you don't have to listen to their meanness any more!

I wasn't going to anyway. I just happened upon the site by seeing an article after doing a google search. I have to say, I did get a little angry looking at all of the lies, hatred and personal attacks that were aimed at this vlogger as well as others. Then I researched the site a little, saw that they are known for being one of the most toxic sites on the net. At that point I just wanted to defend the vlogger and let my contrasting opinion be known. I figured a site that boasts about being a place where you can express your opinion without censorship, would then allow my words to stay, for all to read. Was shocked at the hypocrisy of deleting my post and banning my account.

I think you meant the first amendment, that is freedom of speech. The second is the right to bear arms.

I think you may have your Amendments mixed up. ;)

Yes, I was referring to freedom of speech but erroneously stated 2nd amendment. I have been chatting a lot about that in other forums recently and just slipped up. Thanks for letting me know. I made the correction in my original post.

Uggh, I still have no favorite bloggers so feel free to PM me with recommendations :)

I get what you did, you were trying to offset bullying. People can be awful and when a person becomes public you can't really avoid the vitriol, one of the reasons why I honestly can't imagine why anyone would want to be famous on purpose, sounds ghastly. Next time maybe just PM the person something positive, it's easier than giving the loons 2 targets.

"Free speech" forums are a myth, as you learned. It's simply not possible to have an online forum that's not moderated (call it "censored" if you want) to some degree. It will quickly descend into nothing but the most vile trash, or be overrun with spam, or both. It's up to them to decide what is spam.

That being said, it's far more likely your post got flagged by some automated anti-spam algorithm, than the site owners persecuting you for your views on some Disney vlogger. Your indignation is probably misplaced :)

Yeah, it’s my understanding that those “free speech” sites only accept comments that agree with a certain narrative. Comments that would be banned on any legitimate mainstream site.

In other words, your goal was to spam the website and disappear and you're upset that they banned you for spamming?

I have a theory: They want to let everyone around the net know they got pwned? I think I discovered that site after another complaint thread here. Quite the opposite of what was intended, they ended up giving them free advertising. It's dripping with sarcasm and often quite funny.

Anyway some general things Not directed at you.

NO, the net hasn't destroyed free speech. Free speech applies to the government, not private websites.

Spamming, what the OP says he was banned for, is a well known huge no no on virtually any site with message board and very often is one of the quickest ways to get the heave ho from any site.

Yes, the ACLU still argues for the Klan's free speech. But they haven't had to recently

My point is freedom of speech in public places is eroding. Perhaps my extreme examples were a bit of hyperbole. I agree that businesses have a right to make decisions about what goes on on their property. That is also a fundamental right. My concern comes from peoples opinions being censored just because their opinion differs from the opinion of the majority. Many times this is do to very loud public pressure over social media, that forces speech to be stifled for a mere stating of an opinion. I am not for pornography or vulgarity or for telling people or businesses what they can or can't do on their own property. Again my problem is more with media outlets, social media sites censoring peoples speech for merely stating an opinion they don't agree with. A differing opinion on the economy or a social issue doesn't necessarily make you wrong. There are always two sides to every argument and they should always be heard equally. Unfortunately in todays society that does not happen. People pass moral judgements on an opinion and cancel, for lack of a better term, someone for their opinion or belief.

Social media sites are private businesses.

Lol you think the last statement is new to today's society? That has happened since the dawn of time.

Why is expressing an "opinion" spamming? I think that is my point exactly. I was just expressing my opinion that I enjoyed this vlogger and that I felt the criticism of his weight and his eating habits should not be discussed. I was not spamming. The site prides itself on allowing people to speak their minds. I was merely speaking my mind and expressing my opinion and my opinion was censored. I didn't curse, I didn't abuse any individual poster, I just expressed my opinion on the vlogger. I didnt even quote another poster. Not sure how this is SPAM

As for my thread here, I just wanted to call out the hypocrisy. I still feel that is what it was hypocrisy. Again my opinion was censored because it was opposite of their opinion of the vlogger. That is the problem. I do agree however that it is their site and they have every right to ban whomever they please. I just feel I also have the right to call out the hypocrisy.
