Hey friends! I'm a 10 year Dis vet who is going to IOA for the FIRST time, so I'm a big fat rookie. What are your best tips?

Tip number one.... do not compare it to Disney ;) They are a different type of park.. now onto the real tips...

If you are going for the WWoHP, head to that part of IOA later in the day.. at least that is when it is less crowded now. If your family are big eaters, purchase the Meal Deal, if they aren't, it will be a waste of money. I seem to find IOA more crowded than US, even before the WWoHP. I usually try to do that park first, then head over to US. You will see it is very easy to hop when at Universal. You don't have to rely on transportation as you do with Disney. In fact, there are times I go back and forth then back again...
If you are heading over to IOA from US, there is a side way to leave and it will save you some steps. Walk down along Jimmy Neutron towards the Blue Man Group area. Then follow the walk way along side the Hard Rock Cafe.. it will save a few steps as I said..

1. The Popeye's Water Ride: you will get completely and inequivocally soaked. Everything, shoes included. There is no way to "get lucky" on the ride. Water is dumped on your head.

2. At universal you park in the same garage for both parks. For a couple of bucks more you can get preferred parking for less walking. Ask for it at the gate.

3. CityWalk is the area that is between both parks. It has tons of places to eat and shop if you can't find what you are looking for at the park.

4. Tons of places to eat and to also sit down and relax. Way more than say the magic kingdom.

5. There are several rides which will not allow you to take on a purse or a backpack. There are free lockers available near the ride for your use for that.

6. You can buy an Express pass that gets you to the front of the line for most rides (But not forbidden journey.) Its wonderful and well worth the money. We were able to do all the major rides in BOTH parks in one day using it.

7. If you are staying at a universal resort your don't need to buy an express pass. Just show your room key and get in the express line.

8. Fart jokes, the crushing of tinkerbell etc occur. They play rock music all over the parks, sell alcohol and make fun of disney in more than one show. Rides are way more extreme. There are many less strollers to negotiate around. This is not Disney. Go understanding this and enjoy!
