Part 6: Monday, July 25th

IT'S PODCAST DAY!!!! Happy Anniversary DIS Unplugged!

I got to Disney Springs around 11:30 and headed to the Cirque du Soleil theater. We had to wait quite awhile before we could get in, but luckily I saw some of my new friends immediately and we stood around chatting which made the time pass quickly. We were finally let into the theater and were able to get great seats!

Seriously, I think it is more fun to read reports by friends of events that I attended than it is to read some random trip report from someone I don't know.

Hopefully June will work for us. DW and I are tossing around the idea of flying down for a long weekend in October, something we've never done, but we really want to get back there on our own (without DD) so we'll see if we can make that happen.

I agree. I think it makes it better if you can "hear" the person as you are reading it!

October definitely wouldn't be instead of June. DW is already talking about "when" (not if) we renew our APs when we would go next year. She is dying to move down there. She'd leave tomorrow if I went home tonight and told her to start packing. We've promised DD that we won't do anything until she finishes college in 2 years. After that, though, there will be very little left holding us to this area.

Kinda bummed that on Friday night the DISers were split up with the group I was with on the beach near the luau area and the rest where you were - but oh well, next time!

Yes...I hated that there was a mix up on that. I didn't realize there were multiple beach locations...I should have been more certain about the meeting spot!

What exactly were Petes life lessons? I'm actually upset that wasn't filmed as I love listening to that man talk.

Ryno was doing video during some of it. Maybe that will show up sometime?

The weekend was so overwhelming, I'm not even sure I could tell you all of the details. But I do remember some.

He talked about how he learned that you can't have expectations for things sometimes because often those expectations will limit you and your circumstances. He had no idea what the website and podcast would become. When they started the podcast and were sending off a script to be recorded by others, they thought that was the best way to do it, but quickly learned that it wasn't good at all. They never expected to be on it themselves, but then it just happened and surprise...it worked! He said he learned that you have to let things become what they will and that you will usually find that they become something far greater than you could have ever imagined.

I think he talked about the importance of trusting your intuition and going with your gut. It has served him well, especially with the people he has hired over the years.

And he ended with talking about gratitude. How grateful he is to every person who watches these podcasts, who is on the boards and visits the website. Each person who attends these meets and donates money to GKTW. He learned to always focus on how much there is to be thankful for and to appreciate those who have made it all possible.

That's not all word for word what he said...but it's what I took away from parts of it! (Now if only my memory were better...)

Great report! I'm so jealous of everyone that got to be there. I'm really hoping I can make it next year for disboards 20th and get to meet some of you amazing people.

not surprised with the heat you had to take break. Obviously a bummer to miss that one event and I am sure not an easy decision, but sounds like it was for the best. Glad you were up to making the ice cream event though and nice that Katie was there to meet her since Kathy mentions her a bit on the show

The dessert party looks find and definitely can see that being a great environment for talking with people. And clearly you got more evidence that Craig out-kicked his coverage with Kylie

That must have been really scary when Pete's mom had the health scare - but very glad to hear she is doing well ... and also does seem just like her to want to make sure Pete mentioned it on the show that she is doing ok so people didn't worry.

Thank you SO much for all the pics and wonderful report, @bamacmac Even though I would have loved to have been there in person and to have met fellow DIS'ers and of course the Team, your sharing still gave me a small part of being at an incredible happening! Love that everybody seemed to have a wonderful time together, and so much money was raised for such an awesome cause!!

Yep, I LOVE that pic as well, always makes me smile!!

So glad too that he said his Mom was okay.

And it seems that both Kylie and Katie are awesome additions to members of the Team, from what I've seen, I'd love to meet them (and Madeline)!! Nice to see great people surrounded with great people!
