Hi everyone--I am new somewhat to this forum and have some questions:

I see so many designs I love . . . . and would like to use . . . but rather than bother the Dis-signer to personalize them, I would like to know . . . .

is it permissible to use someone else's design and change it?

if so, how would one do that (i.e., I know how to save the design to my computer, but what program would one use to manipulate it and change it?)

I hope these questions make sense.

TiA!

most of the active disigners are more than willing on personalizing their disigns for you

That's right, we're all pretty happy to personalize, so don't worry about asking. :goodvibes

Some of us DISigners, like me, have a folder in our photobuckets of "blanks" so it's easy for someone to come get and change the name on it using something as simple as Microsoft Word or Paint or something with more effects like PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements. It's not that I mind personalizing, but requests tend to come in waves, and sometimes I'm REALLY busy with a lot of them to fill, so for someone who is able and willing, it's great for them to be able to personalize a design themselves. I can only speak for me, but I just want my hard work to get used. :cutie:

I don't ask for people to ask permission to change names and such on my designs. I say make it fit your family better if you like. I do, however, have two simple requests:
1) If you use my design, give me credit for the creative work I put into it.
2) If you decide to start designing and start your own thread, please don't just change the wording on one of my designs and pass it off as your own work.
** Those are just sort of an unwritten code of the Creative DISigns board in my eyes. ;) **

To Save an Image to Your Computer:
Find the LARGEST possible version of the image you want to save (in photobucket, that typically means clicking on the thumbnail (the small image) twice). Then right click on the image and choose "save picture as..." and save it to your computer. Some people on the boards like to save it with a file name that includes the designer's name to make it easier to keep track. I have a folder for designs on my desktop to make it easy to find the images and easy to find the folder to save into when I'm saving. :) To each his/her own though.

Sorry that was long-winded! :rolleyes1 Hope it helps! :thumbsup2

that helps a bunch! thanks!

and believe me I would never pass off someone else's work as my own. when you say "give credit" do you mean like if I make a t-shirt and post a picture of it saying who designed it? (which i would be more than happy to do!)

ok--now I just have to find time to do all this between now and Halloween!

thanks again--I appreciate it--did not want to step on anyone's toes.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner -- my week got super busy! Yes, that's what I mean by "give credit". It's nice to say who designed you tshirts when you post the pictures, so that it gives the designer credit for his/her work that s/he does for free, and it helps others who want that design for themselves know who to contact to get that design personalized for them. :)

Good luck getting it all done! Not much toe stepping on happens on the DISigns board from what I've seen -- we're all (most all at least) fairly careful about being respectful and giving credit where credit is due. :cutie:

I never knew how to make these. I have been trying to ask people, but no one has answered me, so now any information I find that has to do with creating these disigns I save. That way I will have it if I need it which I will
