DIS oldtimers (well newtimers too) where are you?

Add me to the list of super oldies. ;) I've been on the DIS seems like forever, but I can't imagine not being here. :cutie:

Hi Old Timers. :wave2: Ed is still working at HP, thank you, Lord. I am still home schooling Michael. Michael is racing BMX and acting in local, indie films. Maile just got her first car and a new job at a deli. Amber is waiting for her boyfriend to return from his deployment (only one more month to go). Ashley's daughter is almost a year old and Ashley is due with #2 in December. (can you say "grandpa Ed"? LOL) And Kendra and her two kids moved to Las Vegas when her husband was restationed (is that what it's called?) there. All in all, we're doing well. I really miss the 'good ole days' and seeing so many of you at WDW or at various DIS meets. :grouphug: Have a groovy day. :woohoo:

I miss our 'good ole days' too, Tia. :goodvibes

Hi all!
I'm still here, but do more lurking than posting!
We've got a full household here. Katelyn and her husband, AP, are living with us. Yes, my baby girl got married a week after she turned 18, and no she wasn't pregnant, just in LOVE!! They just celebrated their 1st anniversary, so now she is 19 and he is 20. Katelyn is in her 2nd year of college and works at Walgreens. AP is unemployed at the moment, just finished his 2nd year of college and is looking into joining the Air Force.

Jared is 25 and has a son, Xavier, who is 16 months old. Jared has had trouble finding a job, so they are living with us, also. I love having my sweet, little grandbaby here! He's the light of my life! Jared will be starting ITT in a couple weeks, so eventually will be able to get a good career going.

Kevin has been out of work for a year. He was (sort of) forced to retire, when they closed his Air National Guard unit here and moved all the jets across the state. We couldn't move with so many people depending on us and having elderly parents here. He is working as a home-based travel agent and just got hired at Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines, working back at the airport where he was with the Guard for 24 years! He just started today, and and flew up to Hyannis, Mass. for training. We will be able to get really cheap airfare on several airlines. Yay!

I stay home and now with Kevin working and Jared going to school will be full-time babysitter for little Xavier!

That's us in a nutshell (a large nut). Hope to see you all again sometime!

Debbie

Another old timer...hard to believe I have been on the DIS so long...

Canned Corn anyone?

I would LOVE to read that thread again. So surreal . . .

and some of Dan Murphy's (I think) original TR's?

I guess all those threads are lost in a server crash or upgrade somewhere along the way.
Wish we were planning a trip - thank goodness I have the boards and now the podcast to hold me over.

Hi, Dan. I'm still here. And yep...I'm old as dirt.

I still live in Atlanta, Georgia, and I am still working night shift weekends at Northside Hospital-Atlanta. But I don't get around as well as I used to do. I use a cane all of the time at work and I bought my own mobility scooter for visiting WDW. I just turned 60 in June and I hope to be able to work another 6 years or more before I can hopefully retire from working full time.

About two years ago I stopped using WebTV for internet access. I am so behind the times.

I actually bought a Dell mini laptop and still used dial up internet access until two weeks ago.

I'm using AT&T DSL now, baby. I can see all the signatures here now and photos so much faster. Show me some of your WDW photos from DIS CON, Dan and some of your links to your other WDW photos. I can enjoy them now with faster internet access.

I just finished reading all 61 pages, and I was able to reconnect with different posts for all of the DIS names that I can remember. Everytime I reas a post, I remembered somebody else, or remembered another experience or remembered a real first name versus a DIS name. But I still have a terrible memory for names.

It seems like almost everyone I remember from this thread are from the old DIS-CON convention days.

I remember getting so excited about signing up for the DIS-CON meets and worrying if I would be online when the reservations would go online because there would only be a limited number of tickets to the conventions.

And I remember everyone helping me sign up since my old WebTV was so slow and had a hard time communicating with the sign up software.

And all of those wonderful WDW meets and conventions. I never smiled so much or laughed so much.

And going to WDW after 9/11 and everyone being so supportive.

I remember something about Big Dogs one night after Illuminations.

I apologize in advance if I don't remember your DIS name or your first name or remember meeting you in person. I always admire Dan Murphy for such a great recall of everyone's name that he met.

Hi, CDoobee, Debbie.
Hi, Barb. I still think that you managed somehow to ram the MK Splash Mountain log ride into a standstill. Just kidding.
Hi, luvdsny, Tia. Can you say Big Dogs? I can still remember your meet.
Hi, Smee. I loved sharing that Epcot margarita with you.
Hi, KimRaye, Kim. I love seeing all of those ornaments and meets that you always organized.
Hi, Buckalew11, Brenda. I remember to this day that you took the time to come over to me and say hello at Pop Century Resort when I was checking in.
Hi, jfulcer, Jeff. I remember a DIS-CON meet at MGM waiting for the parade with your little princess, but I think that you told me that she was dressed up as someone else from the Alladin movie.
Hi, AngieBelle. I remember when you said helloand talked with me and directed me to a spot to seat at the AK Lion King show.
Hi, KarenB, Karen.
Hi, Towncrier, John. It is amazing how many times that we see each other at WDW. Didn't we meet by chance at the DVC Christmas thing?
Hi, Mackey Mouse, Marsha. Were you the queen of DIS CON meets?
Hi, pumba.
Hi, NurseKim.
Hi, wdw4us, Denise. I still have your handmade pin that you gave me, and I always treasure the times that you would always take the time to come up to me at WDW and introduce yourself again and talk with me.
Hi, glo. I laughing so hard with you at DIS CON.
Hi, robinrs. I remember that Atlanta DIS meet that we first met.
Hi, PandyPaws, Donna. You were so happy and the very best AK Safari driver that I ever had.
Hi, TeresaNJ.
Hi, SideshowBob. Boy are you tall. I remember all of the DIS meets and the Epcot drink around the world meet fun and the excellent Dolphin Ressort experiences.
Hi, Patrick IL. I remember you as a moderator and I still get very excited about WDW.
Hi, Nancy. Little sister to Barb for Real
Hi, danny1649. What a wonderful DIS meet you and your DW gave at OKW.
Hi, figmentvi, Linda. I can finally spell your DIS name correctly because I can see the "i" at the end of your name using a laptop instead of my old WebTV.
Hi, UncleKyle. POTUS and super castmember.
Hi, pw2pp.
Hi, TennVolTony.
Hi, Princess Michelle. I remember how sweet you were to me when you and I were the only ones at a MK meet and we watched the parade up on the top level of the train station.
Hi, olena. I remember the great Atlanta DIS meet and when Dan came to the same meet.
Hi, WebmasterKathy, Kathy. I 'll never forget how gracious and kind you were when you shared your time with me at MK in December several years ago.
Hi, NancyIL I hope to see you again. I still have that gift of Mickey Mouse that you gave me after you won it it at a raffle.
Hi, RoutemanDan. You made my very first dancing Emo avatar. I was so impressed. I wish that I still had it. I lost the URL during the DIS change.
Hi, Carl. Long time no see at Tagrel. I hope to see you and other Tagrels at WDW this December.
Hi, ead79, Elizabeth. Yor are so sweet. There are still people at work that still talk about when you and your Dear Dad brought that camera and printer stuff for everyone to use at work to take photos of the babies in the NICU and when I played Santa with the premies to give to the parents. It sure beat that old Poloroid carmera.
Hi, goofy4tink, Diane. Miss ya a lot.
Hi , to everyone that has posted here and hi to everyone that hasn't posted yet.

If any one will be in WDW this December, I'll be at Pop Century Resort for nine days if any one wants to have a DIS meet.

I'll be driving a blud mobility scooter with a Mickey Mouse icon shaped christmas wreath on the front and back.

And just out of curiosity, does any one have any photos of the old DIS-CON meets. I don't have any photos at all. Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to get a thread going, would like to see a lot of the 'oldtimers' from here on the CB, or other boards here too, who maybe have lurked more of recent than in the past, stop by and say hello. :hyper2: Sometimes threads like this start out, in the direction sort of a complaint, one thing leads to another, and then pixiedust: they poof it. As I read those, it's always nice to see folks coming out of the woodwork, so to speak, and say hello, but then they are gone and so are the DIS'ers for the time being.

So, I ask, please, not to make this a 'b' session, but rather just one to say 'hi'. Obviously, if it goes in the other direction, it will pixiedust:

So, I think this is a harmless enough start, let's see some old faces.:smickey: I know you are out there, because you pop in on these type of threads when they arise, or others that touch the emotions. Stop by, say hello, maybe meet some new folks along the way too. :grouphug: And if it stays 'nice', I would think the thread will stay too.

Okay, who all is out there? And if you are not a lurker, say hello too, open to anybody. :thanks:

:woohoo:

PS: I feel like I just started a game of hide-and seek, LOL, counting to a hundred by the tree, no peeking, here I come, LOL. :yay:

Hey Ray. I remember my family met you once before a MVMCP in the MK and we also saw you at Epcot. My boys said how cool your scooter was decorated. I think it had christmas lights?

My dh and I will be at the YC Dec. 9th to the 13th as long as everything goes well. I might have some surgery soon and last time the recovery was 2 months. Heck. I think I will still go and just have dh push me in the wheelchair.

What are your dates?

Hi, luvmarypoppins. I do decorate my scooter with Mickey Mouse christmas wreaths with lights.

I hope that your surgery is successful with a very fast recovery.

I'll be at WDW from November 29, 2010 until December 11, 2010.

I hope that you and several others here might want to get together again.

How about you, Dan? I sure would like to spend some time with you in December.

When CarolAnnC and I ran across Ray at the Tangierine Cafe, *he* was the one decorated with Christmas lights. LOL!!

Hi Ray..nice to see you on here. I still post a bit on here, check in almost everyday to see what is going on.

Lots of long lost names showing up here.

Not especially old here; older than my date over there (forgot my original info between my first and second disney trips, lol) but not as old as some of you fogeys! ;)

Hi, Nancy. Have a great time at BWV. I see in your tag that you are going to WDW in 3 days.

I really miss seeing everyone and experiencing all of those special times at WDW.

Ray!!!! My homie!!!

I remember Ray telling me that he worked in the hospital the day my son was born... The hospital that saved his life!! 17 years later he is still the light of my life!

So good to "see" you, Ray!

...gurl-fren, you 'bout as old as my toenail....BTW ~ who's Elka?? :confused3

Hi, I hope to get to see you and Carol this December.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely we'll make it to WDW this year. We just got off the Magic last month after sailing the Baltic and we've got a 3day Wonder cruise over Columbus day weekend this year. We do have one extra day, but we decided to spend it at Vero Beach instead.

Then, next year, we've got Alaska booked on the Wonder. So, we're about tapped out of DVC points for the next year or so. But, Carol is already jonesing for another WDW trip since she hasn't been there in a year, so you just never know what the future may bring. ;)

But, it would be great to see you again Ray! :)

Hi, I hope to get to see you and Carol this December.

Hi Ray! I think of you with those Christmas lights, and how festive you were! Alas, we do not have plans for this December at WDW, but perhaps the following year...

Hope you are well, and enjoy your December trip! :santa:

Hi Ray Sharpton!!

As soon as I saw your name, I thought of the moment I saw you and knew it must be you. I had to get up my nerve to speak to you and was happy I did. You are such a kind person. I will never forget the "you playing Santa" story. :)

I'd love to go to WDW in December. If by some chance I have the opportunity to go, I sure hope to meet up and get to say "hi" again!!

Take care and congrats on DSL--it is great!

Hi to all Dis'ers. I am still here too!!! it has grown so much since the good ol days. My kid is a sophomore in College now and my baby in Middle school. I love love love it here.:cool1::cool1::love:

Hi, Princess Michelle. I remember how sweet you were to me when you and I were the only ones at a MK meet and we watched the parade up on the top level of the train station.

Ray, it is very easy to be sweet to a gentleman as kind and genuine as yourself. I remember hanging out with you that evening, and also having dinner with You, Dan, Helenabear (Elaine) and her Dad that same night at Marrakesh. Good memories. I don't come here much anymore but someone told me you had said hello and I couldn't not come return it.
