Oh my goodness... such a lot of familiar names in this thread! I've come and gone many times over the past 7 years, I remember when we hit 10,000 members and when the forums were WAY different than they are now. I remember the very first trip report I ever read was Dan's and it made me all weepy but in a good way :) Delswife and her LY-MI... and Chuck and Dave of course :) I remember that ridiculous thread about the strangest things seen in WDW... the canned corn eating family, the runaway granny in the wheelchair, and terrible dwarf assaults :rotfl: I even remember when Pete used to post. Good times!

I wandered away from the DIS forums about 3 years ago but came back a couple weeks ago because I am FINALLY going to WDW for real, and EVERYBODY knows this is the best place to be when planning a trip (be it real or imaginary :))

It's good to be back :grouphug:

Waving Hi to everybody.....especially you Mr. Dan Murphy. :wave2:

I feel like I've been around the DIS since the beginning. I first started posting in Dec. 1997, then with the great crash of '99, my joined date changed.

I've been MIA for the past couple of years, but I promise to drop by every now and again to say HI.

Linda

I'm on here everyday (several times) but I don't post very often. Alot of your names are familiar to me so I thought I'd finally say hi.:wave2: Dan, I love your posts especially the ones withthe music:music:

Go get mom and your sister. :cool1:

OK, OK, OK Mr. Murphy. I did post just a couple of days ago, but I hadn't really gone through the thread yet.

I can't believe some of the "old timer" names that I've been seeing.....

Town Crier - Hi John !!!

Wow.....I really do miss the old chat days. How about some of our DIS meets the first week in Dec.??? I tell you guys, I won't be able to have a drink in EPCOT without thinking about our first Drinks Around the World adventure. :crazy2:

Hi Linda!!! Thanks for the PM. It's always great to hear from friends, both on this thread and via PMs. :wave2:

Great thread Dan. So good to see familiar names checking in. Here's a pic from the very first DIS meet at the Boardwalk. There were many DISers there that night but alas I was a late arrival and missed many.

Hi! Y'all! I was wondering where Robinrs was. It"s so nice to read everyone still out there. I wish I knew about these boards for our first trip. I would've known about the rain every afternoon in June.:goodvibes I haven't read anything about the Beaver Tails lately.:rotfl: .

Well, you wouldn't know it by my post count, but judging by the date I guess I'm an old timer. I had to take a few years off in the middle because we didn't take many Disney trips 2001-2005. It depresses me to visit when I don't have a trip planned. But luckily this year we have annual passes and are becoming regulars in The World, so I been around quite a bit these past few months. Daily, in fact. ;)

hi dan,

haven't been on a common thread with you in a while. but glad to see you're still at it. i'm still kind of on again off again on the boards. sometimes i feel like i am spending too much time here and i go away for a while, then wonder about all boarders and where they are, this thread is a great idea, thanks dan

Guess I'm an old-timer who came in way back but posted slowly until six months ago when I got really interested in several boards, especially the Photography Board and now help out with the Birthdays.

There were a few short stretches over the years where we had no trips planned and like others said I couldn't stand to come and read about those lucky DISsers who were going to WDW.

I remember the craziness of pin trading and how that really got me into the DIS boards daily and that's how I met Obi-wan-Pinobi and Mean Laureen at a pin meet at World of Disney.

The changes to the board over the years are really something to marvel at! I love being able to see all the pictures in posts nowadays. People can answer so many questions so quickly and for the most part, the DIS is such a vibrant, helpful community.

Thanks for asking Dan!

: So, I think this is a harmless enough start, let's see some old faces.:smickey: I know you are out there, because you pop in on these type of threads when they arise, or others that touch the emotions. Stop by, say hello, maybe meet some new folks along the way too. :grouphug: And if it stays 'nice', I would think the thread will stay too.
:yay:
Who are you calling an old face?!:headache: :lmao: Good to "see" everyone! Old and new.:woohoo:

Hi all,

Nice to see threads like this.

My DD is married and living in Pensacola, fl, now. Can you believe it?

I check in on this thread every once in a while. It is so nice to see more and more old timers surface. I remember those old chat rooms. I could never work them right and I was always giving people a "bonking on the head" when I shouldn't have.

Another old timer but low post count-er here! I remember all the old style boards and also could never figure out the chat room. I know it shows my join date as December 1999, but the farthest back I see is August 1999. Did the boards exist before that and everyone got a new date when they switched over or was that truly the beginning? I really don't know exactly when I joined but know it was probably to plan for our 2000 trip (but we also took a 1998 trip and I don't remember if I had DIS to use back then or not!)

I actually found this thread by trying to find Dan Murphy's threads to find the one where he told me about the hotels near the Milwaukee airport. I know I had PM's from him but either I erased them or they erased themselves. Just wanted to let you know Dan if you're reading this that I did get a $98 rate for this July at the Four Points Sheraton (which I'm pretty sure is the one you recommended) including 15 nights parking and a rollaway (since there are 5 of us)! So thanks for the recommendation!

I look forward to this thread now that I've found it!
