I'm finally back after a long run without a home computer. Glad to be here, though I don't think I've ever been missed. lol

Pete's vision to bring so many DISNEY folk together was sheer inspiration. Being an ole' timer in EVERY WAY, I remember the summer I found this site loooong ago when every new poster was welcomed with warmth and a sprinkle of pixiedust....My original hundreds of posts were wiped out in the GREAT CRASH (sorry, bad with dates...see...I AM a senior!)

Many of the original community have gone onto their own wonderful websites, new businesses (such as travel agencies) have sprouted, some now have their own radio stations. Sadly, some have passed away.

I have laughed, learned and cried with all of these wonderful people. These boards continue to spread the MAGIC and that's a great tribute to PETE!

I haven't read through all of these replies in a few days so forgive me if this has been posted previously. Remember when the site was small enough and Pete would actually reply to your thread? His reply could be a serious answer or just joking around. I do understand that Pete has many more obligations to this site now, but it sure was nice to "see" him once in a while back in the good 'ole days!

And yes, Karen, I do recall when Pete was active on the boards, guess he is too busy now. Heck, it was not all that long ago they use to have moderators on this board, other than that 'team'. Was nice to see them active here too.

I guess I'm an old-timer. I've actually been around longer than it shows and have more posts, but when they changed over to the new software eons ago now, I got lost in the system and had to more or less start over.

Yup, I've seen a lot of people come and go. Some I can't say I was unhappy to see leave, and others are sorely missed.

I've been around since 1998 and there was only 1 Board at that time. You could read all of the posts everyday. It was a really big deal when Pete added another Board.

I joined DIS before the crash and was pretty active for a while. I hate to admit it but I was especially fond of the debate board. Then I took a break for a year or so. Nowdays, I mostly lurk daily, and occasionally chime in. Nancy

Interesting to see this thread, Dan. I have been feeling a draw back to the DIS the last couple weeks. I always do when life is feeling a bit "unstable", for good or bad. I drifted away but felt the draw before we moved here to WA. Same just before I gave birth to Elizabeth. And at random times during DH's deployment. And now, as we prepare to move to Germany (just found out!).

Whether I come back to lurk or participate, this place is forever a home of sorts. I mentioned to KimRaye once that coming back to the DIS is like going home during college. Your room might have gotten turned into a sewing room, the living room furniture is rearranged, a new dining room set has appeared. But its still home. Moderators change, posters come and go, new boards are added and others removed...but its still the place that has brought me countless hours of enjoyment (and frustration!), introduced me to some amazing individuals, given me insight into other people, has kept me company late into the night (oh, those late night chat sessions!!!), challenged many of my beliefs and more smiles and laughter than I ever thought an online community could do.

(I don't have time to read all the replies tonight but I look forward to doing so tomorrow!)
