No. it's a one way street. There have been tons of great posts here along with some moof posts but it seems for all the talk of the net being forever, many great posts disappear.

Sad news about an old-time DISer today brought me back to the DIS, as sad news often does. While its been many years since I've been active here, its still a 'home' to me. When I'm feeling sad, I want some place 'comfortable' and, for me, the DIS will always be such a place.

Judi, I'm just seeing the news of John. I am so very sorry. It seems weird to have tears streaming down my face on the news of a man I never met and a DISer I was never close with....yet there they are. An amazing lady, for sure. When I was newly married and trying to figure this marriage thing out, stroies of you & John gave me hope for what marriage could be.

As for me...last time I was ont he DIS, I was planning for a trip to WDW after we moved back stateside. We had a wonderful, albeit very cold trip. WDW has always been magical to me, of course, but I never knew how magical it could be until we went with our three kiddos. Jim is now stationed at Fort Bliss, so El Paso is our new home. Only 850 miles to Disneyland! We are planning to go next fall.

So very good to see so many familiar faces.

It seemed like old times earlier this month when I shared a bus ride from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to DHS with Dan Murphy and Ray Sharpton. It reminded me just how fortunate I have been to befriend folks whom I would otherwise have never had the opportunity to get to know.

Tricia - I'm originally from El Paso, and have driven there more times than I can count. We even stopped at Disneyland on the way home from The Pass one time. :teeth: Be sure to stop at The Thing on your way to California.

I still have the original picture of it. That was quite the impressive project!
 
For some of us, it's a 10 year anniversary. I met so many wonderful people that long weekend in December 10 years ago! It was the best thing I ever did. We had a blast:cool1: and I'm so happy that we continue to stay in touch.

Aw, how great that must have been!

For some of us, it's a 10 year anniversary. I met so many wonderful people that long weekend in December 10 years ago! It was the best thing I ever did. We had a blast:cool1: and I'm so happy that we continue to stay in touch.

Wow, it HAS been 10 years!! And to think that little 10 year old Katelyn I had with me is now 20 and has been married for 2 years!!
AND I'm a grandma! Not hers (she's smart and is finishing college first)!
Jared has a son, Xavier, who is 2 1/2. Kevin, Katelyn, her DH (A.P.), and I are taking him to WDW for his first time in March. Can't wait!!
 
I don't post enough for any of you to 'remember' me, but I do recognize some of your names that I haven't seen in a long time. I'm mostly on the Budget Board now.

Back in 2001, after months of DISing, I finally got up the nerve to post and Dan Murphy was the first person to respond. Thanks Dan, for making me feel welcome!

Wow Dan.....met you many years ago. We are old timers here. Didn't read the whole thread but wanted to say hello.
The Dis has been part of my life for so many years. so has DVC.

Well, it's been 12 years, so I guess I qualify! I found the DIS just before taking our 2nd trip to WDW, and it really made a difference in how we visited, back then. Now? With DD in high school and now college, our annual (if not more frequent) trips were cut back to once every two years, so I come to the DIS before a trip to see what's new, or just to check in on everyone and see how it's going!
 
I loved this site and was on it a lot for a couple years. In 2001 , days after 9/11 tragedy, my family and I met up with a bunch of DISers on a Disney Cruise. What a great trip. I also remember winning a contest here and my prize was a very generous gift certificate in a mall in Orlando. I'd never won anything before (or since ) so it was very exciting. I just recalled a get together of DISers at Rain Forrest Cafe at Tysons Corner, VA mall and everyone was wondering what Pete's upcoming big announcement would be. (A few days later we learned it was the formation of Dreams Unlimited Travel ).
Health problems for myself and family members made me put WDW on the backburner. Now I'm all geared up for a 5 night WDW trip on 1/8/12. I have been there many times, but seems like there are so many changes I almost feel like a newbie ! Using DDP for 1st time. Looking forward to seeing old favorites as well as new attractions. Traveling with three 1st timers and my 20 y.o. gr. dtr who was last here when she was 9. They keep saying they're counting on me to help them get" the most bang for their buck". This should be interesting. Anything new since 2001 I shouldn't dare miss ? LOL !
