Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

Good evening Fogies.

Sounds like you're having a lovely time.

I think I might be heading to WDW next year...could be a half family, half solo trip. I think I'm invited to a wedding ;) and I'm sorta keeping that in mind. Plus the wedding date will be about 2 weeks away from the full-Christmas decorations going up. I would hate to be that close and not see Christmas. So, I'm secretly planning to be there for 3 weeks. shhhh....don't tell DH. Bwa ha ha ha ha.

That would be great for you and the others DISers to go during the holiday season for the wedding.

We're looking at the 26th, but will take one of the first few weekdays of that week if need be. So hopefully it'll work out and you guys can make it :teeth:

I'm hoping that we can do most of the trip and wrap it up with the wedding. Then we can fly back in time for a few days before heading to Palm Springs.

Hmmm.....I'm wondering if we can chat about accommodation? It's fine if it doesn't work out.

Happy Mother's Day, Carolyn!!!

That's an AMAZING Mother's Day gift. You are so blessed by your girls. Is it a family trip or another solo one?

Ummmm, it will depend on what happens with our 2016 trips. Or maybe not. My late night is giving me a hard time understanding my DVC points. But now that I think about it, Dana's wedding trip will take place during my 2016 UY. The reason I am running out of points for the trip with Naked Jim is that it takes place in my 2015 UY and I will end up borrowing all my 2016UY points to finance that trip. Well not my Beach Club points, because I was saving those for my 2016 F&W trip.

I am planning on using my 2016 point allotment for the trip, but I can always borrow into the 2017 allotment for a trip in October of 2016. So yes, we could chat about accommodation. I have SSR and VWL contracts that can also be borrowed from.

Just let me know when you figure it out. If you're all booked, I'll look for alternative accommodation. :)

SIX GIRLS! :faint: Our husbands are all staying behind (we may try to get them tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game :cheer2: that weekend if they have a home game) and taking care of the dogs. Me, 2 DD's, DGD-will be 13, DGD-will be 9 and the niece of DD's husband who will be 7. Perfect "pairings"; youngest DD will take "the kids" and do the FAST rides :scared1: while other DD and I will stroll the parks and enjoy the Christmas decorations. :santa: I am VERY blessed; so lucky to have both DD's living close to us and they learned the "love of Disney" from me. SO glad we made that initial "investment" years back when they were younger and showed them the magic of DW. :lovestruc :tink:

Depending on how long you plan on staying, I can probably "hook you up". Any idea on how you think this trip might unfold at this point?

At this stage, if Dana is getting married of the week of the 26th October, then I would need to be there for that week. I am also expecting that WDW would have the Christmas decorations up by the week of the 10th. Food and Wine usually runs through a little into November, so there will be stuff to do at WDW after the wedding.
I expect that if the boys come with me, we would want to go check out Diagon Alley after that. Then it comes down to whether they want to stay or go. I definitely want to stay for the Christmas decorations and see if I can check out a MVMCP. I won't know that for sure until closer towards the time, right?

Hmmm. I have no idea! :rotfl2:

Well, keep in mind that we will have a room block at certain hotels as well. And if need be, I could probably get you a reservation off the block, but with my discount. We have a "other guest bedroom" discount that we're able to use for friends and family staying on property.

They usually have the Christmas decor up by the fifth, I think. I might be wrong, though. The MVMCP is very nice, but I really prefer MNSSHP myself. The current plan for my bachelorette (since I don't drink or do strip clubs ) is to have everyone go to MNSSHP in costume :teeth:

Tough decision.

I remember back in 2012 in late October that some of the decorations are up. I believe it was at DHS for the Osborne Family Lights while it was still the Halloween season. I have enjoyed both MVMCP and MNSSHP. I would prefer the Christmas season over the Halloween season every time but people do have their opinions of what season they like when they visit the Disney parks.

This one is going to be sort of a hard sell for Fran (though she does whatever I want). But we need to meet up in December and May when we're out there so that she realizes we're good friends even though we haven't actually met in person. Then she will be on board with going there for a third time in one year.

I had been planning on going back in October 2016 as it was, but with her breaking her leg and not going this April we have two trips that we didn't plan for. One to use up the airfare that we had for the April trip and then one to redo a trip with Naked Jim. Hopefully she won't object to a wedding/F&W trip.

Makes sense. And definitely not a problem, as far as meeting up :) How's her leg doing, by the way?
