DIS Meet in Alabama, Fort Wilderness style!

Sounds good. Just make sure you wear that Alabama helmet so I'll recognize you. We usually go during spring break. Maybe something can be done around then.

Yea we camp across the bay at Gulf State Park 2 or 3 times a year. Nice weekend getaway if you don't get caught in the traffic going in the tunnel and bayway!! RTR!!

I would hit one up down south as well. Wished you could join us up in Central AL. Maybe we can Livestream our meet!

I wanted to touch on this thread. I know this off topic but, we are planning a thanksgiving camping trip up to Wind Creek state park outside of Montgomery, if they ain't booked up. The DW and I have camping bug, we haven't be able go anywhere since school started back.

Hey Randy, We always have the camping bug. But only get to go 3 or 4 times a year. Our next time will be at RV City downtown during Mardi Gras. Then Spring break at the Gulf. Again later at the Gulf for July 4th. Then gearing up for our next Halloween/ Christmas lights visit at Fort Wilderness. Depending on my possible career change soon I have no idea what may happen though.

Hey good to know we ain't the only ones with the camping bug. Yeah we go over to Gulf State park couple times a year. I work offshore and the DW is a first grade teacher, I work 4 weeks on 2 weeks off, so during the summer the camper dont sit parked for too long. This year we've made it to Ft Lauderdale to see Jimmy Buffett in concert and up to Gatlinburg and Fort Payne, along with trips to Dolphin Island, Gulf State Park, Panama City Beach, and Paul B. Johnson State park just south off Hattiesburg. Fort Wilderness is by far our favorite place, I wish we could get there more than once a year. We are gonna try to get the flow with everyone else and go between Halloween and Christmas. We are planning on going somewhere when I get home in 3 weeks. DW hasn't made up her mind yet on where she wants to go, somewhere close so we can come home to eat Thanksgiving with our families. We have some good friends in the Condes who park up at RV City every year. Im hardly home for mardi gras so the DW goes with her family and stays at the campground for mardi gras on the island.I read where you was looking to get a Open Range depending on your job situation. My mom has been looking at fifth wheels and we rode with her and looked at some at Johnny's, they are really nice. Our 5ver came from B&R, good bunch of people there, we haven't had any issues, so far. Haha. Yeah haven't used the camper in 3 months now so yeah we got the bug.

Funny coincidence Randy. Sounds like you work for an oil company. I am waiting on a call from Chevron now. I tested and interviewed for an Operator position in Pascagoula. If I get that I will retire from the Fire service and start there in January. Unfortunately they work a crazy schedule of 2-3-2 with a lot of OT. So I don't know when I will get time off to go camping. I'm hoping we get to go to Disney next year. I made reservations just to be sure we have our site saved. Were hoping to get the Open range before Mardi Gras. I'm probably going to Montgomery to buy mine. I can't get Johnny to deal with me so far. We love Mardi Gras almost as much as Disney. I've been with the Incas for 20 years.

Yea I do, I am a crewboat captain, we lease out to different oil companies and service their offshore platforms. I've been doing this for almost 12 years now ever since I graduated high school. I have a cousin that works for the fire department in the city of Prichard, he is trying to move over to the city of Mobile. Yea Johnny's wouldnt deal with my parents either, plus I heard alotta bad stuff about their service department. I hope the new job works out for you, Chevron is a good place to be working, have to save your days saved up for going to the fort. The main problem we have with weekend camping across the bay is that stupid tunnel, its ridiculous how back upped it gets. The DW has to take a day or a half day leave from work on Fridays just so we can get across the bayway before it backs up. The main week of mardi grad is when we'll be at Disney, the DW and DS won't have to miss school, and plus we usually in July and its just too hot.
