Assuming we will all be in corral A, we should attempt to meet up and run together since we are all aiming for a 8:00 min pace/ 3:30:00 marathon. I dont know about yall but I could use a distraction and some Disney folks to help each other reach our goal race time. Just a idea. If you are interested in it either PM me or reply here and we can come up with a plan to meet up before getting into the corral

Yes! Let's try to connect. I expect to be in "A" as I'm using a 1:32 half POT.

Even if we have different paces throughout, it sounds like we'd have some times when we're running together/around each other. It's always nice to have some familiar faces to help pass the time while knocking off the miles. And good motivation to keep moving at the end!

As a run walker I’m hoping they have the usual 3:30 group, although I already know the usual pacer Marc will not be pacing this marathon. Talked to him at wine and dine and there are planned substitutes. Either way it’s always nice to have company in the corral and faces to look for on course when plans change. Definitely easier for me to keep pace running with someone, especially after mile 20. I’m always at the pre race light pole meetups.

Id bet the house that a 1:32 half gets you in corral A. Solid work on that half btw! I submitted a 1:42:47 ish half and historically that should get me into A as well. I have a 18 miler with 14 at MRP this weekend. If that goes well I will feel good about my desired goal pace. If it does not, then I may need to reevaluate. Current PR is from 10 years or more ago of 3:47 ish and I havent run a marathon since Jan 2019. Training has gone well so I hope it pays off.

I tried the run/walk method with a friend for a half once. I have to tell you, that is a hard way to do it... or at least for me it felt hard. For a 3:30 goal what is the run pace and whats the walk pace? I havent done much research into. My cardo Dr has started wanting me to follow that plan but we havent gotten into the details enough about it yet.

I registered DH with a last-minute charity bib one year (October or November for MW,) and while his bib number was "out of range" for corral placement, he was still placed in the corral corresponding to the estimated pace on the registration page.

The Galloway pacers use a 4min/30sec interval for a 3:30 with a run pace between 7:20 and 7:30 to end up at 8:00/mile. Marc Burget is usually the pacer and he is a machine. Every timing mat is within a second of his goal with last years coming in at exactly 3:30 on his watch. He isn’t pacing this one as he hasn’t raced for himself in many years and is going for a PR. A couple that pace with him and that I’ve ran with should be doing the job though so I’ll try sticking with them and keeping an eye on splits. I’ve tried continually running and can’t even come close to a 3:30 as my HR will go through the roof and my legs will tire and can’t clear the lactic acid. The walk break is like a form reset for me every time and makes it easy to intake fuel/water. My PR is from last years Dopey where I stayed step for step with them until just past mile 23. I’m actually thinking of starting a wave behind them and pushing for a 7:45 pace until I catch up, then trying to stick with them to end up a few minutes faster. We’ll see what the weather and my body have to say about that.

That seems hard but I understand what you are talking about.

Quick question- if our estimated finish time/pace varies drastically from what we used for a POT, which time should we use? Example- I said sub-7 for the 5k and 10k which will likely put me in corral A, but have decided to run them closer to a 9:30 pace instead.

Edit- disregard I now see the estimated pace line separate 🫣

Yep, separate fields. I use your POT or estimated time to figure out which corral you are starting in. That (along with front/middle/back) tells me what time you should start the race. Then I use your anticipated pace to determine when you hit certain mile markers and landmarks on the course. And if you give me a range like 12-13 minute miles, I'm putting in 12:30 since it's a spreadsheet that needs a specific number, so the closer you can guess, the more accurate the information will be. You'll be able to see everyone across all paces so you can always reference others to get that info for other speeds.

This is just a screen shot, but here's the 10K list in progress to give you an idea. The color coding is how bright the sky will be when you get to those landmarks. The darker the blue, the darker the sky. Yellow is post-sunrise. Green in the finish field means buses will be running when you finish. I don't recall what orange in the finish field means -- my notes say "before spectator finish line". I'll have to dig a bit to refresh myself on what that is.

**I'm actually using the marathon as a workout for my build to my A goal marathon in February because I had an 18 miler with 14 at Marathon pace workout that day. So, plan is to warm up for the first 4 miles, settling into pace for 14 miles, cool down run for 4 miles and then party walking the last 4 miles. The pace I put is what I'd hopefully average over the first 18 miles. Then all bets are off hahaha
