Dis Health Check-in 12th September

diana, can you ask at the gym for advice about the machines you using? as you really only want to tone up you might need a new programme to work on. sometimes if you do the same thing everyime your body doesn't respond and gets used to the routine! so maybe if you vary it a bit and change what you do around, you should get a result.
same thing goes for food! if you eat the same thing -i love jacket potatos- your body just gets used to it and you just end up staying the same. try eating at different times,or not eating after 7-8 pm at night. change things completely around, if you more hungry in the day, have your main meal then, and asnack at night! also if you drink ice cold water your body has to work much more harder to keep your body warm, and so burns off more calories.
hope this helps you!

Thank you both very much for your support Mandy and Jeanette - I appreciate it!! I know I'm over-reacting madly because I've only been going to the gym for 2 weeks but I expected to see a loss instead of putting weight on!! :scared1: I did tell the trainer who set up my programme that I just wanted to lose weight. I'd better calm down and give it a few weeks before I start a major panic but my weight loss anyway was agonisingly slow and I thought the gym would speed things up!! Hey ho!!! :confused3
And yes, Mandy, it's certainly not too soon to put your Christmas tree up!!! :rotfl:

diana, usually when you start exercising, its not unusual for your weight to remain the same or even go up. this is because you are turning the wobbly bits in to muscle, usually it takes at least 3 weeks for you to start seeing a result. you may notice at first that you weigh the same or more but your clothes are just that bit looser.
keep at it you will get there :grouphug:

Thank you very much Jeanette!!! I have been taking regular exercise since I started trying to lose weight in April - just walking or swimming every day, but since I joined the gym 2 weeks ago it's been much more intensive so I'm hoping you're right and that something positive will start happening when my body gets over the shock!!!

stay positive, keep going to all of us on the never ending diet(well in my case!) :wizard: :grouphug:
