DIS FIT 2021 New Hopes, Dreams & Goals, Chit Chat Thread

Oh what weekend this is turning ot to be.
Even with the premedication I just threw a full blown reaction....back in the Hospital at 4 am
I just got home.
So they gave me IV Benadryl & IV Prednisone.
Then we decided to try the new antibiotic in Hospital first just incase I was allergic to it.
All seems to be ok with the new antibiotic .
My skin all over my body is not itching anymore but I look and feel like a burnt

She sent me home with a script for prednisone for 3 days and a new EpiPen.
Ok I am heading to bed...night all.

Hugs Mel

Oh I hope you recover quickly! That does not sound like a good start to the weekend :(

What Not To Do During A Pandemic.

:grouphug:  Mel

I hope you continue to rest and heal. Now that summer is here, you can take care and take care of yourself.

On one hand I just want to hug and squeeze you and do anything and everything to help you recover...the other part of me wants to give you a little finger pointing and stern talking to about NOT seeking medical attention!!!! You are NOT the first person I know who didn't seek medical attention when they should have. At least this was wasn't too bad. I do know of others who were having heart issues that they didn't seek medical attention in time...and it did NOT end well.

I'm glad your on the mend. Please take care of yourself and let your boys help take care of you and do a few things for you!!!!!

Well. A day walking around Calypso water park and wow... I need to really get my steps going again! My feet are sore, my legs are sore, I'm tired, and I'll never be able to really "do" Disney if this one day was so much!

I have been very lazy/tired lately, like the past few months. The last lockdown really got to me and even though it's mostly over now, I am still hiding in the house. I even bought a treadmill and have barely used it. So when my feet recover, I need to get back to walking!

Hugs Heather
I have been off my work out schedule for almost a month now..... so need to get back to it but have a few more days of waiting till meds are all done.
Nothing like a day of walking to make a person realize hey I need to do something here. At least you have some time before your next Disney trip to re start.
Best wishes ,,, you can do this!!!!
Hugs
Mel

I too have been tired, lethargic and lazy lately. I've gained weight too. The hot, humid rainy weather doesn't do anything for my mood either. Add to that the pressure has increased at work with a new tenancy management system, new RGI rules, new arrears collection process all starting on July 1. Now that the pandemic restrictions are lifting, the company is sending us out to offices in each development where we will mostly work alone.
I've been agonizing over a retirement date for 2 years now. With all of this happening, I decided it's time and handed in my retirement notice. August 13 will be my last day, I'll use up vacation that I've banked since last year and some sick bank to take me to November 30, my official retirement date. No excuse for not walking after August 13 as I'll have nothing but time on my hands. :scared1:
I hope you can start getting your steps in and be Disney ready again. I have a trip booked December 9-18, so I need to get myself in some kind of shape by then.

Our trip is currently Dec 3 to 12 but I am thinking of moving it to Dec 9 to 18 or 19, so we can stay at All Star Sports, my son is obsessed with basketball and thinks that would be better than music lol. But then I also wonder if we should be going at all. At least I have some time to decide. Hopefully travel restrictions will improve to help my decision, or vaccines for kids a bit younger.

Until then though, I must walk. But maybe not today, my feet got roughed up on the concrete and feel raw.

My July goal besides getting well is to do all my Christmas Gift Card buying in July.
I hate being hit will huge expenses in Dec.
I am also looking at making my grand daughter an advent calendar and deciding which type to make.

Antibiotics will be finished today and I am so happy.
Tuesday is my day to start rebounding again. I know I have to take it slow and steady.

Happy weekend everyone/

I just got some Skechers Max cushioning shoes for walking. It's like walking on clouds. They aren't for everyone but try them out, they may become your new favourite shoes to get motivated to get out there. Skechers has lots of other comfy shoes as well. Store at Train Yards in Ottawa.

Don't worry about going far at first, just get out and go around the block (or to the end of the street) in the morning or in the evening. Slowing add in another walk during the day (just 10-15 min each time). Then when you're comfortable with the new schedule start going a little further each week. Before you know it you'll be at a point where you really miss the walk(s) if you don't get it in.

I started out going around the block (1km, 15 min) once a day. Slowly worked it up to 3 times per day. Then I added in a longer morning walk, short lunchtime and after dinner. Followed up with longer morning, short lunch, longer after dinner. Most days I have no trouble with the morning but DH sometimes has to drag me out for the other two. I feel so much better having completed them in a day. Daily totals have worked their way up to being (3km, 1km, 3km).

Start slowly just make it a priority to get out each day. You can do it!

Take it slow and easy...much like @ottawamom posted above. When I started...I could hardly keep up while out walking if I went out walking with DH and the kiddo. Now...I'm leading the pack of us...and NOT huffing and puffing. I challenge myself...by adding another song onto my walking playlist and adjust my route...or I will try to kick up my speed a little bit to see if I can walk it faster. I use google fit on my phone to track my walks...I don't have any other wrist tracker other than that - for now. I'm trying to find a new to me one that people are selling on FB marketplace.
Let us know how you are doing...or PM any of us if you need a little extra accountability or just to vent to try to get more motivation!

Congrats on the retirement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are not the first person who I know who have decided to retire from coming out of covid to try to go back into the office. Enjoy all the moments that are in your future!!!!

Ventured out to the Mall today for the first time in a year and a half.
I made an online order for Body Shop and needed to go into the Mall to pick it up.
Of course get me in this shop and expect me to not shop wasn't happening.:guilty:
I did pick up lots of great deals though.(man I am out of shape).
I got some coconut and Mango hand sanitizer (buy 2 get 20% ).
And the exercise of getting out and walking was good for me.
Everyone in masks and distanced except for kids that have been obviously cooped up for far too long running wild everywhere.
Kind of reminded me of this:

Well....because of you lovely ladies (and gents as well) I finally got my but back and started walking again. I had not since the end of June with that heatwave +42 is a little hot for walking in. It was a busy end of June and beginning of July, BUT, it was time to get back on the wagon again. It felt good to put the earphones in turn on my tunes and just walk.

I also ended up changing out some songs on my walking playlist...it now features a little Duran Duran, Kiss, Queen, the onto some honky tonk featuring Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, Eric Church and of course it has to have Keith(Urban) Baby

Thanks Ladies...got the kick in the bu-tt to get going again.589057

Stepped out of my comfort zone today. Please no judgements.
I went to a mini casino close to my home ,,just slots. 🎰 (belated Birthday gift to myself for the last two years).
Downloaded the App for contract tracing.
No line ups.
Maybe 15-20 people including us.
I had wipes & hand sanitizer in pocket ,,but they do have lots of hand sanitizing stations.
People were cleaning frequently.
All slot machine very space out and plexi glass installed in some areas.
Building has been recently updated with enhanced air filtration system.

We spent about 45 minutes there and enjoyed ourselves.

Next step is maybe trying a bit bigger casino in Aug.

Now back to my steps.

Good for you!!!

We all need to start somewhere! Everyone has a different level of where they are comfortable going out into public again.

Hence in point....our weekend visit to West Edmonton Mall

A little back story. I live in a small city. Our city is probably more " blue collar/red neck" than other parts of the province. Take that as you want it to mean :rolleyes1  Alberta has lifted all our restrictions. EVERYTHING!!!! No masks, no social distancing, full EVERYTHING!!!!!!

I/We have been working through this whole covid situation with the public. Both dh and I have jobs that are customer service based and we are out in the public or dealing with the public everyday in some capacity. So our tolerance and fear of the virus is different from others. With the health protocols that were in place, were not scared to go out into public to do our everyday things - ie - shopping, going into restaurants, etc etc.

BUT

Going into the West Ed to take the gd to the amusement park part of the mall :scared1:  :faint:  I was like WT Heck ( insert another word ) I was TOTALLY unprepared for THAT!!!! It was wall to wall people. People NOT watching where they were going...and ZERO....ZERO spacial awareness. It was insane. I went back out to the truck to get us masks and grab my hand sanitizer from my purse (as I only carry my phone and cc) because I was like NOPE!!! :crowded: I can't do this without having my hand sanitizer and mask on again.

Our little red neck city is NOTHING compared to the big city. There was a small part of our population who didn't follow the restrictions. But at least when we went out in public...we felt safe. On Saturday...it was CHAOS. I know if we were to go to Disney/Universal/Nascar where there were crowds of people like that....I would be wearing a mask again and using hand sanitizer as bath water.

Take your time adjusting to going out into public again!!!!

Holy Crap Pumpkin1172 I would have been so shell shocked in a situation like that.
I am glad you and the Grand daughter got to have a great day out though.
Bless grandma and grandpa's hearts for making her day so special!
Yep I love when my grand daughter joins me in Disney ,,she going into grade 12 this year.

Yep tiny baby steps for me.
I am good going into stores with a mask on (skin condition only allows me short periods of time) (I have double vaccine) but I am finding I now enjoy using the convenience of online shopping somewhat.
Airmiles needs to up it's game ,,I need more airmiles.
Be well & be safe Hon

I've been doing some walking but today I am waiting until later, we have an air quality advisory. Apparently we have smoke from the forest fires in NW Ontario. Should clear up this afternoon sometime. I do feel bad, I was doing so well last summer and now I am back to start. It took me 20 minutes to walk what was taking 15 minutes last year. Oh well... someday I will learn to keep going.

A big pat on the back because you have started.
Go easy on yourself and you will get there.
