I may have asked this already, but if so I disremember the answer.

Do all the hotels that we are staying at have typical bath amenities? Things like soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash?

Yes!

And they are usually pretty nice.

Now that Val & I are acclimated to FL weather, I'm guessing we're going to dig out the heavier clothing.

We have the advantage of being just a little closer than you Mike. I think we get there about 90 minutes before you. Of course you are flying an airline that is more likely to be on time....


...and we will have to clear customs in Rome when we land. Its possible we'll see you at the airport.

Went to the bank this morning and ordered euros and notified them of our trip dates for ATM card.....I guess we have to go now

The odd thing was that "customs" was before we picked up our bags and amounted to a rather quick check of our passport. (For all I know, our bags were searched and/or scanned upon arrival, it did take a little while before they arrived at baggage claim.)

The ABD rep was waiting for us right outside of the passport check. We walked a decent way to baggage claim with the ABD rep (passing at least one, probably more, ATMs). Unlike most US airports, baggage claim in Rome is in a separate area and I got the feeling it was still within a secured area of the airport because the passengers from our flight were the only ones waiting for bags and, once you get your bag, you exit through doors into a separate area of the airport. This is where the reps from other transportation companies were waiting with the name signs for their rides.

Oddly, though we were in Italy, our transportation to the hotel was in a Mercedes Benz van.
