Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

Why do I have to log in each time???? I even use the "remember me" option. I would say "update: failure"

I called back to DVC today and I got the nights I wanted (with one added) for a 3 bedroom at BLT! So happy! Now to just decide where to do dinner... and save up for it. Then book everything when the time comes.

I told mom that we could either go the first weekend in May or the weekend of the 19th and 20th. So yes, will be around.

Patsmom... what are your dates? And Laurie, what are yours again?? We could go mothers day weekend, but thinking we may do something else.

We will be in WDW May 28 until June 7th. Ten days. But only one weekend.

I may not get to see you there Laurie. The one weekend, I hope to be with R in Ft Walton Beach again. 1 year and all. Though Disney would be nice since that is where it all restarted.

Has anyone eaten at Victoria and Alberts??? I need to know about serving sizes. Its a 6 course meal! Thats A LOT of food!!

No worries, Sha. I will catch you in baton rouge soon I bet.

Off to jazz fest again for big day. Great lineup local talent as well as national. Got 2 of our kids with us.

Friday was nice with just my friend Cindy and I. Beautiful day.

Did party planning too.

Worked on the slideshow when I got back home until late. I got all the pictures set right. Might still delete some. Working on downloading music. Got over transitions done using picture album theme but want to add some additional simple fade to black ones between major events. Also titles. Then I am finished.

Never ate at V&A but I read great review last year with pictures on the dis.

One year all ready? Yay!

GAGWTA, ladies!

Sha, the logging in thing is about to put me over the edge. :headache:

Thinking of you ladies and hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! :)

glad to know I am not the only one JSK

Good morning ladies

Lisa - hope you are gaining strength and finding something to eat. Hang in there sista!

PatsMom - having the boot stinks, but at least you will be in Disney. I hope all your testing goes well. I am sure you will need a break and vacation for sure.

Diana - I :) at your not too hot comment. I like it very hot. Especially since I dont have a thyroid anymore. I am always cold, so the hotter the better. Drives my dh crazy. I hope things are going well for you too.

Laurie - Hope you had a great time at the Jazz Festival and sounds like the graduation planning is really coming together well.

Sha - I know Cheryls dh and dd went to V and A last year, so she can tell you about it. Will you be in DW when dh and I are there??

Elizabeth - I bet your ds is counting down the end of school now for sure.

Linda - my ds team lost last night but he had fun he said, so that is good.

Well today is the one big meeting. We were told it will most likely not go well for ds, that is just how it goes and is to be expected, then its on to Phase 2 and the next step. We dont have to be there for that so it is good. Also today there is another mandatory meeting. I am driving ds to dh work and he is taking him, then I have to either pick him up or also take him to college, so I am going to be driving around like a crazy lady. If it rains too bad I might take him to the train instead.

Also my dh one project in Calif. is not going well, so he has to make an emergency trip out to the west coast. He is leaving the 14th and suppose to come back the 16th and we leave on the 17th. Just great. As usual I will have to do everything etc. Plus maybe taking ds2 to work . I will def. need a vacation for sure. I did ask him to please be there for the onc. visit and mothers day since he was gone for easter, so this is the only dates I guess. My head spins. Still havent heard back from the endo. I will wait till maybe thurs.

GAGWTA.

We've eaten at V&A's, just once. It was pretty amazing, and lots of courses. But they are small, and it lasts several hours, so you manage. The wine helped.

So glad I am not going through this with kids to take care of. At least mine pretty much takes care of herself. She is off the sugar again, so back to her nicer self.

DD & DH were at V&A last March. (Wow, MaryAnn, you have one heck of a memory!) Here are some fairly awful pics.....sorry I dont know what is what, neither of them are around right now to ask. I didn't go....I'm more of meat and potatoes kinda gal. :) Yes, the portions are small and it does take about two hours....both said they were full, but not stuffed. They loved it. :thumbsup2

When they called to confirm the reservation and ask if we were celebrating anything special, I explained that my DD is attending the same culinary program that the head chef at V&A graduated from, and we thought she might find it inspiring. They were really surprised at the end of the meal when they were asked if they'd like a tour of the kitchen and to meet chef!

Have fun, Sha!

Can you pick options off the menu?? or is it set to a set course or 2? I looked at the menu but need to look again. Thank you again! I think we... I will splurge. I can swing it for our group. Again... my mom is worth it. The pictures help though. Looks like there are options. Have some with allergies too. So will let them know when we book.

Awesome memory LMP! I am hoping to be there the weekend of the 19th. Mom and I havent been for F&G and I didnt go over there the one weekend I was there. Just to DHS to see my cousin and his family.

Just booked ressie for our 1 year up in the FL panhandle. Yay! limited room options though, hoping that something will open up vs 2 queen beds. We had a suite last time.

When will they fix the log in issue?? LOL

Isn't all the planning almost as good as the actual event? :thumbsup2 those plates look yummy but it still looks like a lot of food by the time you are done!
Are you running windows on a pc? internet explorer? I had to go into tools, internet options, on the general tab, where it says browsing history you click on delete, and in the box that pops up I made sure the box beside "preserve favorite websites data was unchecked, then checked all the boxes except the last one that says "inprivate filtering data" I then hit the delete button. then I closed my internet explorer. I opened my IE again and came back here to make sure I was not logged in, then back to my home page, and did everything again, and closed my IE. I then opened my IE again and went into the tools etc. again, and this time I checked the top box where it says "preserve favorite websites data" and unchecked the "cookies" and "passwords" boxes. then I came back here and signed in. That was about a week ago, and I've been signed in since. I had to sign into every other site I go to again, and re enter all my saved card numbers for my banking stuff. It was a pain in the butt! but now it's done and hopefully DIS will stay put for a long time!! Whew..... Lol... I sure hope this will work for you!

Cheryl the pics were lovely!! (and so is your daughter) at least they were taken before a bite or 2 had been taken which is what I always do!! I'm so anxious to taste, I never remember to snap the pic first!!
You asked me a while back about Seattle, and I meant to reply then forgot! sorry about that!! In the very many trips through Seattle we have made, the closest we have actually stayed is down in Tacoma!! We talk about it, but usually we are in a hurry to get further south, and on the way home too tired and broke!! Lol.... A few ladies I know took the train down there for a weekend and had a great time! there is a lot to see, but it is a lot like Vancouver so we've never felt compelled to make the effort. However if I were going to be going on a cruise out of there or any city I didn't live in I would for sure stay a couple of days and tour around!

Sorry I have not been on to post and comment, but we had fun at jazz fest, only took pictures with my iPhone, but I will try and post a couple later. There were far too many participants Sunday compared to Friday. Everybody and his brother were scrunched over by the stage where Bruce Springsteen and the E street band played. He/they were great but trying to move around was horrible. Even texting became impossible so it was hard for us to reach each other. Our group tends to wander to different stages, everyone has different tastes in music-blues, jazz, rock and roll. It was a challenging day, but riding across the river on the ferry was serene.

My friend Cindy and I are thinking we will limit future days to week days. The top billings are on the weekend, but it is more of an enjoyable experience not the week days, the local days as they are called.

Got to meet the man she has been dating for a few months. We all adore him. It was as if we had always known him. Deja vu all over again.

DD16 had a bout of severe abdominal pain last night at about a 9 out of 10 scale for several hours that landed her in the ER after 11 pm. After drinking a lidocaine laced chalky drink, she still had a lot of pain when the ER doc palpitated her right lower abdomen so he ordered a cat scan to rule out appendicitis.

They did see a ruptured cyst, no appendicitis at least as of now. The pain dissipated over the course of the evening, and she is merely sore and drained this evening. The ER doc instructed us to see the pediatrician today who concurred with the radiologist on the ruptured cyst. He said it might be mittleschmerz, and we would monitor it for a month or so. If more problems, she will need to have her first visit with a GYN. The pain made her dizzy last night, we were worried she would faint and fall down so we got her in the easy chair and she ended up comfortable basically only in the fetal position.

I called the triage nurse on call and off we went to ER after warm compresses had no real impact.

She is much better today, but mostly resting and taking tylenol. She did eat lightly today so her appetite is intact.

Quite a first time hospital experience for her, the IV, the cat scan, well just the whole ER scene. DH and I got about an hour of sleep and we are seriously dragging, after a fun but exhausting day in the sun on Sunday.

Oh man i need a vacation, oh wait, I am going on one soon. I believe I have aged a bit in the last 24 hours.

I am ever so grateful the severe pain did not hit her Sunday when we were with hundreds of thousands of strangers at jazz fest. There are medical tents everywhere at jazz fest but I bet no cat scan machine.

Your plans sound wonderful, Sha. Your mom is gonna be so surprised. Making those memories. I hope you get down there for F&G.

Glad you got a place for your one year in the panhandle. My sister and her husband are getting ready to leave for Sandestin soon. The gulf is a little cold for me right now, but the beaches are so nice. She is looking forward to listening to live music in the little village there and hopefully spotting dolphins.

Thinking of you, Maryann, and hoping things went well today. or was that yesterday, I have lost track of the days.

Diana, how are you doing? I am glad your daughter is self sufficient so you can focus on you!

Patsmom, you have been through the wringer lately. Time for you to catch a break. Maybe the trip will be the turning point for you.

Smilie and Cheryl, good to see you post. Those pictures are beyond great, Cheryl. I bet your daughter is a wonderful cook.

I will have to get back on course tomorrow. I am so not ready for what I need to do, for the graduation, for the vacation.

Just a little course correction is all.

GAGWTA!

Laurie, I did that ER scene four times in three weeks last month! :faint: One of them was also rule out appendicitis with DS due to right lower quadrant pain. Surgeons were fairly certain he'd be going to the OR, but thankfully he turned around with a ton of IV fluid overnight. Turns out he was very dehydrated after an unusual GI virus and slowly his pain dissipated. But it took a couple of weeks for him to feel back to himself. (My DD had two ER visits and one two night hospitalization for a leg injury, and my mother spent the night in the/my ER while I was at work, followed by a two night hospitalization for bleeding/diverticulitis. Amazing how that just throws a wrench into your whole week, and strange how it happened with all of them three weeks in a row. My mother still is not feeling great and right now can't take motrin for her arthritis so she's in a lot of pain.) I hope your daughter feels better soon.

Cheryl, loved the pictures. :lovestruc

Wishing those who are traveling lovely trips this month! :goodvibes

lmp, glad your son is having fun on his team. I think being part of a team is really great. What position(s) does he play? How do you like your new van?

I've had a couple of good God Winks this week, one with a friend yesterday and another with an aunt today. I have them a lot. :)

Ok Linda, I remember you had family members sick, but 3 ER visits in a month, I can't imagine how you survived. I felt a little ridiculous about using ER resources like we did when it likely amounts to pain related to ovulation, even if it was acute. It was so hard to assess, and we did not want her to have one of the vasovagal episodes where she faints for a moment or two like she has in the past. I am always concerned that she will hit her head. Her doc told her the first time if she feels it coming on to lie down on the ground and she does. She laid down on the tile fioor in the kitchen when she first reported the pain to me Monday night and i went to get DH (he was already in bed). When I cam back into the kitchen and I found her on the floor at first I thought she had fallen and freaked out.

Apparently about 20% of women have the severe pain symptom during ovulation, but I did not realize how debilitating it could be. DD21 did have bad cramps but this is at different time and at a different level from cramps. I am just thankful we had the resources to deal with it.

I am hoping we are not facing PCOS, we will have to let things unfold.

I was assured by everyone that we were where we needed to be but I know the experience was much rougher on her than it was on my DH and I. We trotted down with her to radiology and could see her throughout the scan.

I am not sure if her nurse or the technician prepared her for the "flush" you feel with that.

But she is off to school just now. I guess we dodged a bullet with the appendicitis. Thanks for sharing your experience. I makes me feel less guilty for putting DD16 through the "scene."

We all seemed to sleep like logs so that is a good thing. I have never seen DH sleeping before that I can remember in such contorted positions. I guess he did during my surgery stays but I think there at least was some sort of mini couch involved.

Love to hear about your God winks Love those things. I have had a couple of marvelous moments of expressing feelings and thankfulness with DS23 and DD21 in the last 2 days. I just wrap them up in my heart and store them somewhere and bring them back to the front of my mind when I have a quiet moment. Those are not God winks per se, I guess you could describe them as mom winks?

GAGWTA!

Sha - your plans sound great, both for your moms b day and for your 1 year anniversary! Would be great if we could meet up sometime when you are there. I know we have adrs in epcot sat. I think Le Cellier lunch and Chefs or Coral Reef? I have to look it up.

Laurie - so sorry to hear about your dd. I hope she is healing and that her drs. visit goes well. I am sure that is so hard when we see our kids so sick etc.Wishing her all the best.

Linda -So sorry to hear about all you went through with your kids and your mom too. Wishing her all the best. I am sure its harder to recover the older we get.

Ds plays catcher. I honestly dont know how he does it. He has had his knee scoped and the surgeon already said he will probably need a knee replacement by the time he is 40 or sooner since he has some rare thing. So rare the surgeon said he never saw it before in someone so young. Something about the cartliledge being spongy?? He said he took a picture and put it in ds chart. He is not even suppose to be doing stuff like this but he does. Hence more coaching basketball too instead of playing. I dont drive the van but we love the stow and go. We have put our new refrig and washer in it. Dh likes the back up camera for sure.

smilie - your trip will be here befoe you know it too.

Diana - yes its easier to go through this when the kdis are older. Mine were in college/almost done with hs. Also helped that my surgeries were right where they go to college too etc.

Well the one meeting yesterday was postponed again, the one we didnt go to. Gheesh. We will get a letter saying when it is rescheduled. Then the other one dh went to went reasonably well I guess. There are many more things that now must be done before May 25. My head spins,. Of course its hard for ds to concentrate on that with studying for finals. One thing will be done by skype since its so far away so that helps for a little bit.

Still waiting for ds3 to hear about nursing school. I think the univ. is not being fair to all the 300 people waiting to hear etc.His current thought is to do the comm. college RN program and then do an RN to BSN bridge program. He thinks it will be the most economical although more time consuming etc. He already registered for clinicals. One at the one local hosp. where ds1 and ds2 were born, not the hosp. where I was misdiagnosed and one at a nursing home/rehab center not too far away.

Hi Linda,

I was catching up tonight and so sorry to hear that your children and Mom have not had an easy three weeks. Hopefully everyone is on the road to recovery now.

yes it is! And I will try this this weekend. They are driving me crazy at work AGAIN... and so quickly! I yelled at our scheduler. I apologized to her a couple times during but omg! I will be discussing it again this morning. I have a class tonight and will be PO if I miss it, as I requested what we are doing.

It's lovely to stop in here and see the trip planning etc. I have no idea when we will get back to WDW, but I'm keeping the DVC points!

My surgery is scheduled for May 21. Having a single mastectomy. Then will start with hormone meds when it is healed, I think. Not liking the side effects lists of any of those meds.

Linda, that is an above average number of ER visits! We were doing that for a while when my daughter decided she wanted to be a Pro long boarder. Thank goodness that has passed. She still has a hematoma on one leg from when a guard rail hit her (her words).

Sorry work is crazy, Sha. I think the scheduler can probably handle being yelled at. Comes with the territory.

Diana, which hormone treatments are being recommended? I had 5 years of tamoxifen. No issues for me but another poster had problems so she came off.

Are you considering reconstruction?
