Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

Cheryl - count me in with all the rest who are sending you prayers and good thoughts and get well wishes.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

Sending you a diversion from the uncomfy bed and snow and ice:flower1::flower::butterfly:daisy:

Cheryl: sorry to hear that you've been so sick. Hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes :flower3:

GaSleepingBeautyFan: Yay for the good news!!! Glad to hear you are doing well. :goodvibes

My surgery is tomorrow morning (lumpectomy and removal of some lymph nodes). I have to register at the surgery center at 7:00 then walk over to the Breast Care Center so they can stick a needle in as a marker for the surgeon. The worst snow storm in our area for years started this morning. The worst of the storm is supposed to hit tomorrow. We don't do snow and ice here in the South! Please pray that (1) I make it to the surgery center safely and (2) pray for the me and for the surgeon!

GAGWTA

Good luck with your surgery, Jill.

Praying that the weather doesn't faze you too much, and for both you and the skill of your surgeon.

I have said a prayer for you and will continue to pray that all goes well. Hope you can get some rest tonight.:grouphug:

Jilly B, hope your surgery goes well today

I am out of ICU and in a regular room now. my vitals all seemto be good, my white blood count was .5 when I got here, and my blood pressure was dangerously low. I still exrtreemly week, but much better. I'm allowed to get help with assistance and using a walker. I've started PT.

Thanks for all the thoughts and. Prayers,

GAGWTA

Sooo glad to hear your vitals are stable. Thanks for posting, Cheryl. Continue to get stronger. PT will help you get back on your feet.

Sending more prayers your way.

Hoping your surgery went well, Jillyb. Hope the storm did not interfere with your surgery date.

Speaking of storms, I hope all of the northern girls here are safe and have power. What a storm! This is a winter to remember, or maybe forget would be better.

GAGWTA!

Jillyb- hope surgery went well for you!

CherylDan- so glad to hear you're starting to do better! Keep it up!

I'm starting to panic a little here. We started school vacation a day early here with a snow day today, which is great for me- more time to pack for my trip on Sunday! :cool1: Reason to panic now- storm coming for Saturday night into Sunday. Should be okay at the airport (3 hours away) by the time our flight is scheduled to leave, but now I'm worried about the getting there. My boyfriend's philosophy is "we'll leave at 2am if we have to or we won't leave at all", which has me a little worried. I'd rather plan ahead and stay near the airport tomorrow night to avoid the traveling. He's driving, so I will leave it up to him, but this could turn out to be another nasty drive to the airport to enjoy Disney. I just want to get there- I'm not worried about coming back, but just let me get there!

I hope everyone else is surviving this winter and doing well! GAGWTA!

Jill, Check in, when you can. Hope your surgery went well.

Cheryl, So glad you are feeling better!

Kofslinky, Be sure to bring some warm clothes. It is pretty chilly here right now. I realize that it may seem warm compared to other areas of the country, but coupled with the wind, it has felt very cold at night.

Jillyb - hoping your surgery went well. Thinking of you.

Cheryl - so glad to hear that you are out out ICU and that you are getting stronger. Yes, use the walker. You know I am a big fan of using them!! Keep up the getting well.

kofslinky - yes, I would rather stay closer to the airport like you. Your bf sounds like my dh, dont worry its going to be ok. etc. I am sick of the snow like you too.

Laurie - did the roommate plans get finalized yet?

Peg and fort wilderness - wishing I was in FL with you both right now.

I have a bad cold and feel miserable. I am congested, my ear and jaw hurt etc.

We went to see ds playoff game. They lost sadly. Players were crying etc.

We got over a foot of snow. Sigh, I am so weary of this. Yes as kofslinky said, more to come over the week end. I am getting winter weary.

Ds3 has taken ds2 to a job fair at the college today. I dont know what employers will think of him showing up in a wheelchair. He isint taking his crutches because he said the line is over 1 hour long and there is no way he could stand on that. With the economy around here I dont know what his chances are. Dh has mentioned grad school but ds seems uninterested.

GAGWTA - Happy Valentines Day everyone

I have a bad cold and feel miserable. I am congested, my ear and jaw hurt etc.

Hope you feel better soon! I can't even imagine putting up with so much cold and snow. I lost my ability to handle cold weather when I moved to Florida. Hope springs comes for you very soon!

Home from the hospital. It's been quite the week. I'm still exhausted, and extremely bloated from extra fluid. My legs and feet look like sausages! Getting up out of a chair is really hard. I'm tolerating food in small amounts. I hope to start feeling better soon, scheduled for another round of chemo on Thursday. I'm quite sure they will be keeping a very close eye on me.

It's been a long time since I've needed a babysitter (for me!) but between my mom being here and our DDs, they have been a big help to DH. I'm not strong enough to be home alone yet.

I hope everyone is doing well.
GAGWTA

Cheryl - so glad to hear you are home from the hosp. Let everyone pamper you! You deserve it for sure and it will help you get your strength back. I hope the extra fluid issues are not too unbearable. I hear you about getting up and down from the chair. Even my dh has been talking about getting us those matching his and hers electric lift chairs. Glad they will be watching you closely with the chemo.

Jillyb - hope you are resting and recovering post surgery

kofslinky - hope you got to head to sunny FL on time

Linda - heard there are blizzard conditions up your way. Hope you are ok.

Let t snow, let it snow, let is snow. Yup, its snowing again. I am not going to church tomm. anyway. The ds dont really watch me the way dh does so I dont want to fall down and break something. Oh and they said we are suppose to get snow mon and tues too. OMG. I have had it.

Cheryl, thanks for the update. Hope things get better for you every day. Stick with a low salt diet to avoid fluid retention!

Koflinsky, I hope you are able to fly out today. :worried:

lmp, yes, we did have another storm - probably the same one you got just before us! :rotfl: It was beautiful but snow removal is getting ridiculous now! We did let DS (with Learner's Permit) take the Jeep out last night with us to get some driving experience in the snow. He loved it! Very few people were out so it was actually pretty peaceful. He practiced skidding and braking and turning, and we were just along for the ride. I'll do it today with DD as well, she was babysitting. It was nice that we were all off this weekend, last week I had to go to work during the previous storm and it took me forever to get home and back to work 12 hours later. :headache:

I had mammograms this week as well as saw my oncologist for my yearly appt and everything was fine, although they did have to do about 8 views and I even got called in again when I was halfway dressed. That darn seroma is always an issue. Needless to say, I was pretty sore! :scared1:

Surgery went well. Got out of there just as the first few flakes started to fall from the massive snow storm we had here. Good thing I was already taking off from work! The surgeon told the Ex (that's who ended up taking me and taking care of me!) that they got all of the tumor and they took some lymph nodes. Thankfully I didn't need a drain. I have a post op visit on Wednesday and will find out more then.

I have been doing well. Haven't even needed the pain medication. I took Motrin once and that's all I've needed. Heck the night of I cooked supper (with Ex's help)! I am trying to rest as much as I can though since I go back to work on Tuesday.

Cheryl: glad you're home from the hospital and hope you are doing well.

Koflinsky: hope you were able to get away today!

Stay warm and safe everyone!

Cheryl, I am glad you have lots of help. Allow them to as someone else say to pamper you a bit. I hop the swelling in your legs and feet go down some, and that reduced swelling will help you move better.

Thanks for the update.

Glad your surgery is behind you, Jillyb. Nice that you do not have to deal with drains. Hoping you get the best news possible on Wednesday.

Congrats on passing the mammogram test, Linda!

MaryAnn, sorry you are experiencing the winter from hell.

update: I saw my gyno today. I do have a small mass about few mm that's movable. I'm scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound on Wednesday afternoon.

Tarheel, I am sorry that it did not go away, but I am glad your followed up on it. It is always prudent to err on the side of caution.

good luck Wednesday. Please let us know how you do. With a diagnostic mammogram at least here a radiologist reads it before you leave, so you might know if you need further diagnostic testing Wednesday.

Do you plan to have someone going with you?
