Wow, getting good car advice here MaryAnn, also good braces advice for Candy's DD.

I love this thread.

I received a Caring bridge update on Avery that the cancer is NOT in his bone marrow. Tomorrow is his 10th birthday and he goes into the hospital until Saturday for chemo. Thank God it is not in the bone marrow.

Hope your nausea has subsided, Patsmom.

Lisa, 50 laps, that is amazing. I think you oughta write a book or a blog. I can't get over it.

GAGWTA!!!

I am all signed up for the race for the cure now, thanks to a gentle nudge from Sha. Thanks, Sha!

Anyone else going to be in Orlando October 16?

Here is my attempt at recruiting!

I can't even recruit my DH, sister or mom this time, but DD21 is still a possibility, if she quits her job that has become too demanding for a college student taking 17 hours.

My mom and my DH both joined me there for the RFTC in past years, so I am grateful. It is a little far to go for a race I guess but it beats the one here.

Hope the side effects are subsiding some for you, Patsmom, and don't affect your upcoming trip.

Lisa- Thanks for the advice on the ibruprofen! I never thought about that. She is back to eating soft foods and jello. I hope she is ok today for school.
I agree with Snappy. You have a brave story to tell. A blog would be awesome.

LMP- A Tahoe is a great one!!! Lots of room and comfortable. We rented one for a trip and it was great. Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Patsmom- Hoping you feel better soon.

GAGTWA to all that I missed.

Crazy busy day. Just wanted to check in.

Good afternoon sistas

Anne - wishing Avery all the best with the chemo.

Lisa - I like the idea of you blogging too!

Laurie - I know what you mean about the 17 credits and your dd working. This is what ds19 is doing. I dont know how he does it, his extra stuff is helping at church on friday night, going to church sunday and working at the bowling alley all day sat. and now throwing in the volunteer work somewhere on fridays during the day. I bet your dd is a very organized person too.

Candy - you have a lot on your plate right now too sista. Hang in there.

smilie - thinking of you. Hoping you can post with an update

PatsMom - sorry you are dealing with all the maintenance issues. But as you say the side effects are bearable when you think what the other alternative is. Keep fighting tough!

I waste much of my time internet vehicle looking. But today I think I found something that might interest dh. Only thing I dont like is that it has leather seats. Not a fan of leather. Ds23 new sonata has them and I am not thrilled. But this van is the exact color, has 29K miles, and it has a lot of the bells and whistles, sirrius radio, navigation, dvd player and what dh really liked, a backup camera. Maybe he will take a look. Its about 45 minutes from here I think. He knows the area better than I do.

Hi ladies! started my radiation today which means the long long commute back and forth to the city every day. at least today was a beautiful sunny day so we drove down through Stanley Park and had lunch.
My CAT scan showed an 8mm spot on my liver, which they don't know what it is, so I will be going for an ultrasound. He said based on it being a hypodensity as apposed to a hyperdensity, and the fact it is one spot that size and no others, he does not think it is the cancer spreading. Also everything else was clear on the scan, lymph glands etc. So I am doing the hoping for the best expecting the worst game again. I go for an MRI of my ****s on the 12th as well. This stupid cancer is consuming my life never mind my body!!
I will try hard to get here and check on everyone, but it may be a while between visits! I don't have any internet on my laptop, and while the Iphone is great for reading the posts, typing up replies is horrible! take care all!!
forgot to mention, had to go get "drained" twice again. yuck. healing well, but much more disfigured than before, as long as they got it all this time I don't care!! We've also been going through some huge problems with another family member, alcoholism is an ugly thing and I think impacts the rest of the family much worse than the addict!! Our poor daughter in law is having her roof replaced right now, and it has not been going well. She is missing our dear son so much and everything is so hard for her. with us so busy with me and my illness we have just not been able to be much help. for about a week I was waking up everyday thinking "another horrible day to get through" not how I like to live my life! :(

Long lost sista, checking in. How are you all? I'm fine. In fact, today I am ten years cancer-free. I wore pink and celebrated all day long! I need to catch up with everyone here. I think my posting problems may be over.

Smilie, you are strong beyond measure. You certainly have been there for you DIL and your grandchildren. Please don't feel guilty about taking this time for treatment and healing. You will come back stronger and be there for all your clan with a vengeance. I am sorry you are dealing with issues with alcohol. We have that issue in our family and unfortunately it can be genetic. There is a lot of help out there, but right now I don't think you have time for alanon meetings. There will be time later. Hugs, darling.

Merry, glad you are "found" and wow, it is good to hear you are able to post again. And congrats on your ten year cancerversary. Thanks for sharing your success.

I think I will wear pink in your honor today.

Candy, good to check in if even for a minute.

MaryAnn, I hope that vehicle is the one, it sure sounds promising. What make and model is it?

Merry!!!! Good to 'see' you. Congratulations on your 10 year HOORAY!!:cool1::banana: Party on girl! I think I will throw a party whenever I reach that milestone. And you know how much I love to plan parties!!

Smiley-In your post you mention how you look up to everyone for their strength. I agree with Snappy. You have such courage, strength and love for your family and they need that! So you have to use that strength so you can be there for them. Keep pushin back Girl!

Anne-Good news about Avery cancer not in the bone marrow. In my prayers.

MaryAnn- That van sounds great! Like the bells and whistles! Keep us up to date. DS is a mover and shaker. He is young and now is the time to do it. When you have that energy. How has your dizziness been? Better?

Snappy- I like the idea of wearing pink. Is your DD going to join you for the race? I think that is awesome. I did the walk for Juvenille diabetes last weekend. It was a last minute thing and then I went to work. I was dead on Sunday.

PatsMom-Hope you are feeling better today! Hang in there.

Sha- I hope things are calming down for you.

Lisa-Any advice on sores for braces? She uses the wax but is starting to get sores in her mouth from the brackets. I keep telling her to rinse with salt water to keep it clean. She did a mixture of peroxide and water this AM and doesn't look as inflamed. She was miserable this AM. I am thinking she will be calling to come home today.

I have to get an ultrasound because I am having pain in my sides and my cycle is 2 1/2 months late. Yes there was a though of pregnancy but blood test thankfully ruled that out! Doctor thinks maybe a cist on ovaries. I go on friday to get my port flushed. The last few times they have had trouble. Don't know why.

DH may have to go to nite shift! That is a hard shift! He worked that a while ago and it was miserable for all of us. Him for lack of sleep, me for lack of sleep and short tempers and stupid arguements! Pray that it doesn't happen!

Candy, keep up posted on the ultrasound results. Are you having that also tomorrow when the port is flushed? I hope that procedure goes smoother for you tomorrow.

I hope your husband does not get that night shift. Bad things happen on night shifts. My sister was working night shift as a respiratory tech in an old hospital in New Orleans when she fell on a wet bathroom floor, hyper extended her leg, and ruined her knee for life, not to mention permanent nerve damage.

I will pray that he can stay with a regular work day.

Can your daughter see the orthodontist? Maybe he can slow the treatment down a bit and give her some relief?

GAGWTA!

Good morning sistas

Smilie - wishing you all the best with the radiation. Keep fighting tough. How wonderful that you got to go to Stanley Park. I actually went there when dh had a conference in Vancouver. So lovely. Focus on YOU and your healing sista. Blessings to you.

Merrry - Happy Cancerversary. 10 years!! How wonderful. A great reason to celebrate:yay:. Also cant wait to hear about the wedding

Candy - praying your dh wont have to do the night shift. Hoping your dd heals from the braces side effect and that your port flush will go well. Hoping the ultrasound has good results as well. I am sure its frustrating not feeling well and not having a diagnosis etc. I am still dizzy sometimes, but only lying down in bed and turning to the Left, hence the problem is in my R ear. The surgeon said he would have to put me on a special table and him and dh would flip me around to dislodge the crystals, umm, I think I will pass on that right now.:)

Laurie - The van is a 2009 town and country. I ran it by dh last night and he commented also on not liking the leather seats. sigh. There is a cheaper model with no extras and cloth seats closer to home, silver as well, that he could check out.

Linda - what do you think of that Boston player and his wife with breast cancer?

All 3 ds are home today, should be interesting. I am getting to the stick a fork in me, I am done with vehicle stuff. Dh and I cant seem to be on the same page.

I read another website, but dont post there and one lady said she went to a very renowned dr. and he said there is a greater chance of getting breast cancer after you have thyroid cancer. I need to read up on this etc.

GTAGWTA.

Thanks for all the 10 year wishes. I can't stop smiling.

I admit I haven't gone back to read. (Bad Merry!) Did I see that somethng is happening with Avery? Wishing all of you the best. I promise I'll do better. Life has been too hectic. Can someone fill in what I've missed?

Allen's parents moved to assisted living. We're in the middle of going thru all their things and having an estate sale. That put our remodel on hold, so the house looks horrible. :upsidedow The end of dealing with the estate is in sight, but the dry, hot summer caused our house to settle. We need to deal with cracks before we can finish the work we're doing and that's so $.

The wedding was lovely. They made a beautiful couple. They are now living in Ft. Worth. She's working and he's going to grad school.

Welcome back, Merry, and Congratulations on your 10 years! Sounds like you've been very busy!

I think I'd love to know the real story! From what I've read (with a little research) their marriage has been frought with problems even before the BC, sadly. Other than that there is not a lot of info out there.

Prayers and thoughts for all having difficult times. :grouphug:

Went back a few pages. Can't believe Avery is going to be 10! He's back in my prayers.

My DH claims he has the best way to buy new cars. He chooses the car he wants to buy, then emails all the dealerships within a few hours driving distance. He lists the make, model, colors, and what he wants on it. He asks the dealers to give their "bid" or best price and gives a date he'll commit to the best offer. No haggling.

Merry Poppins - Congrats on your 10 years!

MaryAnn - I hope your vehicle problems are solved soon.

Laurie - Have fun during your October trip. One of these years, I want to be able to go to the race and cheer you on - or better yet, participate. As for your idea of a blog, I've never actually thought about it. I wouldn't know where to begin.

NHAnn - Happy to hear that Avery's disease is not in the bone. He's in our prayers.

Candy - My kids never had to deal with mouth sores from the braces. I think the peroxide and water rinse is probably a good idea, though.

Chemo day again today. One of the ladies in my Encouragement Group is coming to sit with me. It definitely makes the time go faster. She has also organized a group of friends to bring dinner over one day a week. She told me I was too stubborn to ask for help, so she just went ahead and did it. It's nice and the men in my house definitely appreciate it.

Have a good weekend, everyone.:goodvibes

Good morning ladies

Lisa - I think its wonderful that you have an encouragement group. Is this from your bc support group or your church etc? I know what you mean about not wanting to ask for help. I didnt ask, but this lady from my church called and said she set something up for me when I was post surgery and then when I got hit with the other surgery she did it again. The people at my church are helpful when asked. But I think weekly sometimes they just dont know what to say to me. Hope the treatment goes well today.

Anne - read Averys caring bridge. He is a special young man. Prayers for him.

Candy - hope your dd's mouth pain subsides

PatsMom - I saw something on tv about a diabetes med and it being related to bladder ca. Have you heard about this?

Hmm..in the whats new dept here, or it should be called when it rains it pours lately..the dryer broke last night., conveniently when one ds had his clothes in the washer and is gong on a trip upstate after work tonight.
So now we have 2 soaking wet loads of clothes (another was in the dryer)

Today dh took off to go vehicle shopping and now it will be dryer fixing instead. Oh and the ins. co. moved the van, we dont know where it is etc. Frustrating to say the least.

Ds19 heard back that the peds onc. is full so he might try the reg. onc. floor. to volunteer.

Have a good week end everyone.

GTAGWTA

Oh no Mary Ann. Not the drier. I would rather have the washer go out than the drier. Was your DH able to fix it? Sorry this will postpone the car purchase.

I hope your DS finds another volunteer opportunity.

We finally got some slightly cooler and drier temps here. Had to have a storm with a lot of hail first though.

DD21 tried to continue working at her job this week but finally quit today. I am relieved. She was getting off very late, they scheduled her for too many shifts and she was getting behind with classe work which is not like her.

Can't do that senior year.

GAGWTA!!!

Am having a good little buzz here at the Vinoy... excited to do the walk in the morning and ready to head to bed. I left my number at home on the fridge. I hope that they can fix that tomorrow LOL. Missing R and wish he was here. Its a lovely hotel and think I want to try to come back to enjoy it another time.

I know I owe you all a better post. LOVE the tshirts too! and will post pics of one.

Take care ya'll!! Im walking for you all!!!

Have a great race, Sha!

Glad you like the hotel.

I need to mapquest my way over the RFTC site.

Still wearing my pink bracelets. I really enjoyed celebrating Merry's milestone and October a little early last on Wednesday.

Today is the official start, and I am going pink again.

Go Tigers!
