MaryAnn, one of the hardest things to do is keeping track of what bill is paid and how much you really owe. Seems like I spend more time matching up statements from Cigna and doctor's bills! Sometimes they say something rejected and it was never submitted. Just this week I had a statement saying a bill was paid but I got a bill in the mail. It is like they want to drive us insane!

Very sad about the little girl. They have found a body and presumably it is hers since they have taped off the house as a crime scene. Not a good outcome but not unexpected after 7 days either.

Hope everyone is doing well. Thunderstorms here tonight.

Cheryl- It is good to "see" you. I am glad you are feeling better. I cracked up at you keeping your pants up. You will fit in with the teenage kids who can't keep their pants up. You would be 'In'. LOLOLOL I hope all goes well with your neuro.
LMP/Patsmom-I was cracking up at your pill debacle and stories. Did you ever see that movie "Old Dogs"? It has a pill scene that is hilarious!

Patsmom-Hope everything is going well with your diabetes. They up'd my metphormin last week to twice a day. How about at the pharmacy they only had me for 1 fill on my insulin?!?!?! I asked the girl how can I have all these other refills on the script and only one refill for the most important medicine? I called the doctors office and they called them in. Then go back and they say they still do not have it?!?!?! I finally told the pharmacy to call the doctor's office because I did not feel like being middle man. I saw that they found a body. I was so hoping they would find her ok.

LMP-You were busy on that phone. Just think you got all that nonsense taken care of and done!!! How's your bone pain? I hope a lot better.

Snappy- It is soo good to hear from you. Oh I just went through budget here. Not like you though. I think I am one of the ones you want to scalp!!! I had to get all the invoices in for end of fiscal year and any that should be in for fiscal. Enjoy your traveling!

Sha- What is the 411? I hope your weekend went well. We are eager to hear. :surfweb:

Lisa- Glad you made it to have dinner w Meg! Hope you are feeling better so you can get in that pool.

Smiley- I howled at your post. That was great! She loved Canada. Amazed by the falls. She talked and talked and talked and then talked so more. She was so excited. My sis husband has a few intl people that they entertain and so this week she is going back to Kennywood with a teenager of one of his clients. She doesn't speak much English and Chayce speaks no German so this will be interesting. But I think the Amusement park is a universal language. We just bought her first phone and she received it yesterday. I am so glad we have unlimited text!!!!!! I can't believe how she was texting like a mad woman to her cousin's and friends!

So my DS FINALLY passed his permit test this weekend. My husband took him out the same day and he was nervous. I hope he stays that way.

We are down to one vehicle.:headache: Repairs. I got a root canal done on Friday and yesterday my cap on another tooth broke! :headache: Another $288. My neck has been spasm a lot before the root canal and they have subsided some. Wondering if it something to do with getting those started. I have been suffering with them for about a week now. Muscle relaxers help during the day but at night I can hardly sleep. These are the times when I begin to second guess my decision about that tumor...

GAGTWA

Cheryl, I am glad you posted. Glad your appetite is back and being off chemo for the past month helped and hopefully eating more will build up your stamina.

I don't know much about Lyraca but I am glad you are getting some relief. I think my sister has been on it as she lives with chronic pain from both an accident at work and congenital problems. Do you have the appointment yet with the neurologist? Please keep us in the loop.

Candy, I am glad your daughter enjoyed her trip so much. She sounds so outgoing and fun. I bet you two have a great relationship.

The very thought of a root canal gives me spasms. Hopefully you are past the worse of it. Not being able to sleep is a no-no. I think you should follow up with the doctor on that.

Lisa, have you been able to score any pool time? Hope you are up to it. Being in the pool is comforting for me. We do not have one, but I love swimming when we are on vacation, even smaller hotel pools.

Sha, I was thinking of you all weekend and hoping the rain did not rain on your parade.

MaryAnn, is your bone pain better? I hope you find a quilt you like. Sorry you are having so much trouble with doctors and paperwork. Focus on your upcoming trip, especially staying in those deluxes. I read an article this weekend that people get more enjoyment anticipating their vacations, than during their actual vacations. I think that is true. I also feel an "afterglow" afterwards.

DD15 returned from NYC last night. My brother Tom treated her to 4 Broadway plays, dinners, and the Harry Potter Exhibition that is in NYC for its last north American stop.

She liked the plays Wicked and Anything Goes (Cole Porter music). She did not seem as crazy about Catch me if you can. The pinnacle was How to Succeed in business without really trying, she loves Daniel Radcliffe from the Harry Potter movies. Tom got great seats for them. She said they were 10 feet away from Daniel Radcliffe. Even Tom said the play was good. I told her Danielle Radcliff probably noticed her (she has vibrant red hair and had a turquiose sweater on), and she replied that he looked right at her, then said, ah mom.

She was having a bit of fun at my expense.

They stayed one night at the Martiott Marquis in Times square way up on the 38th floor. The view was amazing, they could even see the Statue of Liberty. I have a great picture of her looking out from the top of the Empire state building, and one of her lighting a candle for her granddaddy in St. Patricks.

Only downer was her plane home was delayed and delayed, after Tom got her to the airport and left. DH picked her up around 2:30 am this morning and they made it home shortly before 4 am, last plane arriving in the New Orleans airport.

Delta said there were weather delays everywhere, it was unfortunate that she was traveling alone. Luckily she met some class mates at the airport and she borrowed their charger to charge her ipod.

I thought NYC was big but she ran into a classmate since kindergarten and her big sister and mom in the bathroom at intermission during the Anything Goes play.

Another friend from Baton Rouge was visiting her father who lives in NYC and they got to go to lunch together.

She will probably sleep for ever, and I need to force myself to get ready for work, so GAGWTA!

Good afternoon ladies

Laurie - so glad your dd had such a wonderful time in NYC. Looks like she really did and saw alot. The weather here yest. was terrible, hence the storm delays. We had lots of lightning, but no rain, very strange.

Candy - :thumbsup2 for your ds passing his driving test. I bet your dd is so happy with the cell phone! My ds text so fast too. Wonder how kids survived without them right? Also so sorry you are dealing the muscle spasms and neck pain and sleeping issues. I too would talk to the dr. about it. Would heat or cold help like in one of those neck wraps? Pain just drains you. Hoping you can find some kind of relief. I hope you are back to a 2 vehicle family real soon.

Lisa - hope you are swimming and feeling well

Cheryl - hope you are doing well. How is your dd doing? I am sure her disney experience is being put to good use.

Sha - we are anxiously waiting to hear about your week end!

PatsMom - so sad about the little girl. I hope they find out who did it soon. They found out ours so quickly but had lots of videotape etc.with the little boy and the guy

I bet we will have a new thread here by the end of August. Its getting close to 250! very quickly.

Hmm, whats new. Ds is at the waterpark with a friend using the free tickets, good because its like $33 each. They found a dead body in our town. Havent heard much more. It was in the woods by another part of town. Oh, and dh says, lets go away somewhere next week. Yeah, like I have to plan that etc. So I did some online looking and see we can get a room at a resort in the Amish Country, so Candy, I am coming to PA!! most likely. I dont know what we will do. Dh favorite thing - buffets!! maybe see Joseph at Sight and Sound and so some exploring, shopping etc. I dont know if this will all work out. Its dh big plan anyway but I am stuck trying to plan it etc. Just wed. to sun. maybe. I have a meeting tues. night that I cant miss.

GTAGWTA. Blessings to you all always.

Hope your meeting went well Maryann.

Happy planning on your trip. You don't sound as in to it as we all are for our Disney fixes. Disney is a hard act to follow.

I was able to change my rate from rack rate to AP for thd 3 days at POFQ in October. Had to stay on hold for a while. I also was able to chsnge to a decent AP rate for an trip in early November. I changed from beach club to boardwal, 5 nights starting Friday Nov 4th. Been planning this for quite a while, hoping to meet Barabara. Delta had crazy low prices on round trip from New Orleans last night. $124 total. I succumbed.

I may back out but I decided WTH.

Good afternoon ladies, its going to be storming here soon again

Laurie - wow, you are some traveling lady!! I wish the rates would go lower here but southwest has a captive audience here and in the city the orlando flights are not direct and connect with miami on american I think. Dh does not care for delta or jetblue all that much.

Sha - are you still on :cloud9:. Well come on down because we are all wanting to hear how things went!!

Lisa and Cheryl - hope you are both feeling well.

My meeting is next tues. that is why we cant leave on the vacation till wed. I just am not excited about the long car trip. I would like to stop overnight in NJ and visit my aunt, go to the cemetary to see my familys graves, dh can check on his dads property etc. I havent seen dh all that much to talk to him about what he wants to do etc.

Great news!! Alyssas surgery is over and now she is in ICU. Time will tell if this will help the pain and symptoms she is having, they will def. see if it was tied to this tumor or something else.

Another older lady at my church is not doing well. She had the rad. at my hosp.she didnt have my rad. onc. either and not the surgery there too and now her latest biopsy has not turned out well. I might mention my surgeon to her since she had radiation to the face and nose before. I know its some kind of bad skin cancer that has spread. Yes cancer sucks.

GTAGWTA.

Hi ladies.... sorry to leave you hanging. There was a lot of emotion this weekend and I was digesting some of it. I had a great time with R. I miss him a lot right now but we have no promises. I didn't ask for one, and he said he couldn't make any. I misread somethings from this weekend I think for the worse, and they may not have been bad at all. Again, emotion. It's hard to explain.

The rain didn't effect us much and we did go out... back down to New Orleans to the French Quarter. It wasn't a scenic tour... was a beverage tour. There are a few pics on my FB page.

Hopefully, we can get together LD weekend. I think it could be good under some of the current circumstances.

Laurie... I didn't see any direct flights from BR to MCO on Delta... are there??? The options seemed limited from BR. Let me know please.

Linda... do you know anyone who does traveling nursing?? I'm looking for information and reputable places.

Keep us posted on Alyssa Maryann.

Oh, this is an article on R's cousin in England... as a nurse, I know that we don't like misinformation that is a risk online, but there is NO reason for a nurse to talk to a patient like this one did.

Sha, I used to know a lot of nurses who travelled, but that was a while ago, long before the economy tanked. My hospital hasn't used travel nurses in a long while. One couple I knew were both nurses and travelled all over the place, including Hawaii, before they settled down and had their family. I always thought that was cool. I never heard any bad stories about travelling. People seemed to like it. I'll ask around to see if people know anything about it today. I do recall one nurse leaving us about two years ago to travel. What makes you want to do it?

as a possible way to not commit to a move to BR if things don't work out... if that is something R. would want. Just need to talk to him and figure it out.

Sha, no matter how things develop with R., it is smart to do your research and keep your professional options open.

My good friend in new Orleans has a friend who was a traveling medical professional. I think it was physical therapy, not nursing, but she really enjoyed traveling. Her situation was different, as she is older, and her kids were grown when she went on the road.

One of the jobs she was on took to her to New Orleans and she fell in love with the city. She bought one of the raised cottage like houses on the west bank in Algiers Point, a fixer upper a few years ago.

I know you are well travelled, and have seen a lot of the world.

You may find you special place (other than WDW, of course);) whether it ends up being with R. or not.

Let me know if you decide to go on a fact finding tour again in these parts.

We have a balloon fest starting today. We usually get a number of balloons over our neighborhood every year since we are close to the river, although 5 plus miles from the launch area. We even had one controlled crash land about 2 years ago in our yard (away from the trees). I had great fun talking to the riders and the owner of the balloon who came to pick them up.

I think the weather will be good, hoping for wind.

Good to see you post, Linda. You back in the swing yet after vacation? School for DD15 starts Monday, :scared1:

GAGWTA!

I am heading out to the rocking chair on my front porch with my coffee and see what flies by.

Good afternoon ladies

Sha - I think the traveling might be a good idea. When my ds was talking tonurse at one of the pools he was lifeguarding at, telling her he wanted to be a nurse, she said, oh look into travel nursing. etc. As Laurie said, my friends dd also did a travel physical therapist job. She went from NY to Colorado because she said she liked to ski and was sick of the beach here etc. She was also somewhere else before Colorado too. She only came back here to stay with her mom between jobs. I think it would be a great option for you to keep all the doors open etc.

That was also so sad about R's cousin and the lack of a correct diagnosis etc. Reminds me also how I sat in the hosp. for a week and everyone ignored my neck and just keep testing stuff for the anemia. It sounds like she is a fighter for sure.

Laurie - I bet that must be a sight to see with all those balloons. I cant believe your dd starts school Monday!! Around here, its after Labor Day.

Lisa - is your chemo today or next friday? Thinking of you and hope you are getting some swimming in.

Cheryl - hope you are enjoying the day and getting stronger.

Candy - have your returned to being a 2 car family yet?

Linda - when I read your curler thread, I immediately had a mental picture of my aunt, who would always wear curlers, no matter what.

PatsMom (Linda) - the more I read about that poor girl, the sadder it gets, like how she had to sleep on an air mattress in the basement. Do you think it was a family member that was involved?

I saw KJ post on another thread. I miss her here! Well I ran a schedule by dh and he said its good. I went to book it today and realized I needed another of dh hotel cards to get the double miles. I have one here but not the other. So I asked him to call me back. Never did. I hope this works out, I did see all the places have rooms etc. Just going to Nj we have to go to a different hotel farther away from my aunt as one is sold out.

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone.

Just got home from chemo a little while ago. Getting ready to send Meg back up to Orlando. I was able to get her to take some pictures of the Vette while she was home and I thought you might enjoy seeing one of them.

Oh Lisa, that is one sweeeeet ride!!!!!!! You look great behind the wheel and yes you do have the greatest dh!!!

No direct flights from Baton rouge on any airline. Delta has flights out of New Orleans, also not direct. Southwest seems to be the only airline with direct to Orlando from New Orleans. I grabbed a round trip on Delta for November for $124 total this week, New Orleans to Orlando. The airport in Baton Rouge is way north from where we live, it is not much farther to the New Orleans airport since it is located west of New Orleans (this side of New Orleans).

That story about Ray's cousin struck a chord with me. My boss's mother, Miss Madeline had inflammatory too. She went to a number of doctors and they all missed it. It was months before she was diagnosed, but the surgeon who her daughters finally insisted she see, knew what it was immediately when he examined her.I get mad every time I think about it and would never do my mammograms at the clinic where where she went although my internist is at that clinic and she is great.

I agree that the words that nurse is quoted as saying are unfathomable. How insulting to be marginalized and talked to so condescendingly. I am extremely sorry this happend to that beautiful young lady. Thank goodness she realized she had to be her own advocate, as we all must. Good lesson, ladies.

Thank you ladies about the support of the idea... and everything else. If I do come up there Laurie, it will need to include some reserch. I did find a link to BR tourism and I think that can lead to some information too. I just need to find out what we both want to do.

Thank you also for the comments on his cousin. She does seem like a fighter! If given the opportunity, I would like to meet her. You all amaze me all the time and give me a strength that I know I can get through more than I realize.

R. is thinking of taking K. to see the balloons... I am jealous as I have been thinking of the photos I could have gotten. Maybe next year???? is it yearly Laurie?? Be funny if you ran into him.

EDIT: I asked R. if I could send his cousin a pm and he said yes. I did share those comments with her Laurie and Maryann.

Ah, I worked late, then it started raining hard so I did not venture out to the balloon championship flare area. DD15 did, but she was able to leave before the downpour.

Another possible monsoon today. I hope the weather does not kill the event.

Yes I agree that you guys need time to discuss and digest everything.

Although DH and I met in sophomore year or high school, after graduation from high school we broke up. We reconnected about 4 years later, me living in Ohio, and him in New Orleans but about to move to Baton Rouge.

The distance heated things up and I came back to attend college in New Orleans. We were 22 an 23 ish at the time of the reconnection. Just meant to be, with a lot of coincidences.

The distance drew us closer, weird as that sounds.

I am just glad to see how happy you are now. Gives me goosebumps.

Speaking of , yesterday was our 33rd anniversary. We both worked late. No dinner as he is being true to his diet. He actually put on our son's pants by accident and wore them all day before he realized the mistake. given it is only 2 sizes les than his current size pants, and the pants have that hidden elastic waistband thing, but still.

The controlled diet and the almost daily working out (weights with the manager of the gym) and some cardio, he is bound to lose weight. he is being monitored very closely re his blood sugars so they can adjust his metaphorin when it needs to be adjusted.

It was two weeks today, and he got through a birthday party (his own, our son's and my mom's) and an anniversary.

I am proud of him. He is going to be a 59 year old hunk.

Good afternoon ladies

Sha - its good to start off in the shallow end before you start swimming into the deep end. O.K. I guess I am thinking of the relationship from a lifeguard view,:)
But its good to go slowly and look at all your options. At least your feet are firmly planted on the ground and you are thinking with both your head and heart at the same time.

Laurie - Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like your dh is really taking control of his health!
Linda - I saw parrothead has picked you as one of the 5 disers they want to be with!

Did anyone else see that thread on the CP? I couldnt just pick 5 people.

Well glad dh is home. We just made all the reservations for our trip next week. I also have e mail my friend in Penn. to see if she could see us. Its short notice and I dont know her work hours and her husband is also ill too. So dont know if it will work out. Also have to call my aunt and my bff in NJ. Dont know if they will be around either. So we are gong to NJ on tues. Hopefully taking my aunt and uncle out to dinner, then wed. going to penn. and eating dinner at Dh favorite smorgashboard, then thurs. we are seeing the play Joseph at the sight and sound theater and I dont know about friday yet. Then sat. we are coming back to NJ and hopefully I can see my bff and her husband for dinner, if not then my aunt again and sunday coming back to NY. So we will see how things work out. I am looking forward to it and to seeing the Amish way of life. They are so laid back there and polite etc.

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone.

I heard that they cancelled out the afternoon and evening part of the Balloon Festival Laurie... I know I would've loved to be there in the morning and then again at night.

Happy Anniversary Laurie. :goodvibes

I got a reply back from his cousin. She was overwhelmed by my taking time to write and the kind words from you all. She also friended me.
