Lisa-Hope you are feeling well and the procedure went well. Hope to hear from you soon!

LMP- Bummer about your son and the job. It is a life lesson. But it sounds like it was a good thing. I hope you get to spend time with your hubby. Some one on one is good for the heart and soul. Hope your dizziness goes away.

Sha- Glad things are still :upsidedow. Hope your spirts are lifted.

Patsmom- good news on your results. Keep truckin'!!!!

Snappy- Whats up girl??

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Hello everyone I missed.

My surgery went well. I'm not feeling great today, mainly because of the anesthesia. Not too sore, just been taking Tylenol. I hope to be feeling better by the end of the weekend. I have a lot to do before I start the next course of chemo next Friday.

Meg is feeling better from her accident, but I think it was hard for her to experience my surgery yesterday. It's the first time she's been home for any of my surgeries and even though it was minor I think it was difficult for her. She went back to Orlando yesterday afternoon after I was settled back at home.

MaryAnn - Hope your DS is able to find another job soon.

Patsmom - Good news from the urologist.

Sha - Enjoy your three day weekend!

Hi ladies,
I haven't really read your thread, but anytime I see anything about breast cancer I have to pop in and show my support!

I lost my mom when I was 17 to this awful disease. She was 40 years young, and the best mom anyone could have asked for. It's been 16 years, and not a day goes by that I don't think about her and miss her terribly.

God bless all of you and to anyone who has ever been touched by this disease!

Keep up the good fight!

Welcome to our thread, Mickey'sMainMami and thanks for your support.

I also lost my Mom when I was 17 because of cancer. I have a different take on it now that I have spent the past 2+ years battling it myself.

Stop by and comment whenever you like. We are a fun bunch and we also share our love of Disney here, so it's not always about our fight.:)

Good afternoon sistas

Mickey'sMainMami - welcome and thanks for your encouraging words. I miss my mom so much too! I always wish she would be here during my fight but I know she is in spirit for sure.

PatsMom - I am glad the urologist had good news for you. That is always encouraging.

Lisa - Hope your pain is lessening. I am sure it was hard on Meg. But she is so sweet to care about you the way she does. I think my boys have a strange sense of caring and how they relate to things with me for sure.

I should have explained that this is ds23 one of 4 jobs. His full time job is at the bank, then the 2 basketball coaching jobs and then this one. He got a text yest. asking him to cover a shift from another employee. He said, gee I would love to but R. (the new boss) fired me! But he went fishing today with d21. Dh and I said what a miracle! as they dont get along that well at all.

Another surprise and good news. Dh, who was not suppose to get a raise for like the next 4 years actually got a raise. They gave everyone 1 1/2%. The raises are really suppose to be performance based but they did it this way so no one would complain since they werent suppose to get anything. Actually dh was suppose to get one of the biggest raises based on the good job he did. Oh well, something is better than nothing for sure. He then asked about the oct. trip. I told him I am having a problem with the room etc. We shall see.

The ds are scattering at various times during the week end. I also forgot I have a meeting tues. night. That will be after the decorating during the day. Too much for me for sure in one day.

GTAGWTA.

MickeysMainMami welcome! I am one of these wonderful ladies supporters too. My mom is a BC survivor. They can't get rid of me here LOL (JK!)

Lisa how are you feeling today?? Am glad that Meg is feeling better from the accident.

Patsmom will definitely have to swap cell numbers. I am there until Sunday or Monday. Have to check but I am on vacation the rest of the week, and not sure if I am going anywhere else that week. I am sure I will be... just wondering if I am adding a trip back to BR or elsewhere. Glad the report was good and I have heard a lot of patients tell me their MD took them off of a statin and changed it to another. Glad to hear your MD is paying attention.

Candy, I am thinking that yes, my spirits are back up. We didnt get our skype visit last week. He works on computers all day, so its rare that we get on the computer to talk, which is nice too.

Maryann is the dizziness better?

Laurie one of my other friends that lives in the area is going to be at the airport when I arrive and take me to where I have to meet him. Just so she can see me. At least that is the plan she came up with.

I went to DTD yesterday with my mom and a friend. Was wonderful weather and not too crowded. Picked up a few things for a few friends. The stop over at the outlet mall... parking lot was packed. Did get a Dooney and VB on sale. I kept thinking about the last 2 times I was at WDW especially going past BW and CB since that is where we were. Couldnt help but smile. Enjoying my holiday weekend off (with exception of some paper work I do have to finish) but I do not have any visits which is nice. Oh and I picked up a couple things for his son (little things) to leave for him. 1 is for age 6+ so will let him decide if its okay (legos). What I wanted I couldn't find and may have to go to the ToysRUs here. K turns 5 in a few months.

Want to share this... my favorite comic strip that I read each day. Here is todays: http://www.gocomics.com/roseisrose/2011/07/03

Have a great weekend everyone... taking mom to her church today.

Mickeysmainmami, welcome to our little thread.

Patsom, I hope you and Sha can meet up when you are in WDW. It is ever so fun to put faces with names and stories.

Sha, if things change and you need a ride, call on me. Wow you are awake early on a holiday weekend. Glad things are going well with R.

Wow, lots of moms lost to cancer here. So sad for each of you.

I am going with my mom, my sister and her DH to Texas to day, for a funeral, my deceased father's remaining sibling. So I will be away some-at least until Thursday. My brother in law is driving in their nice van, and my mom and I are sharing hotel rooms. Sad occasion to see my dad's relatives, now just my aunts and a few cousins and second cousins.

DD21 is on her way to NYC to see her BF as I type this (just had a text about an hour ago that woke me up from her), and DD15 left yesterday for her 2 week camp in Alabama. DD22 is working this week (he finally found a summer job), as is DH.

I finally made my self buckle down and put away all the pictures, tapes, documents and files I had boxed up in plastic bins in case of evacuation while the river was high. Not a lot of fund, but we spent most of Thursday doing same thing at the demonstrations center at work so I guess I was on a roll.

MaryAnn, no the non-profit I work for did not get any state funds next fiscal year, just federal. We are in for lean times, probably 20% cut in pay. Several staff on a single income won't be able to make it and will be trying to find another job.

I have been working on the non-profit's budget for the next fiscal year and it is pretty grim. For our family, I won't replace the lady who used to clean my house every other week and we will be economizing in other area. It is hard with 2 in college, and the youngest in Catholic high school. DD21 has full scholarship but I help her alot with her living expenses and pay extra fees and for books, and contributed about 50% to her summer program.

I would not be taking the October trip if I was not trying to use most of my Southwest credits before they expire. I am limiting it to 5 nights, and will eat simply.

Gotta start training for the race/walk (I will be walking).

GAGWTA!

Sorry for the loss Laurie. And it is a sad reason to see family that you haven't seen in awhile. I think I would only go to one of my father's sister's services if I could.

Definitely nice to put a face to a name in person! Am hoping all goes smoothly where we can.

As far as a ride... I won't have a problem with him getting me. But thank you so much for the offer. Things are good :goodvibes I keep seeing new things in him that I never got to see or he just wasn't that way when we dated in the past. Or maybe because I never let him see my vulnerable side???

I think we both have improved with time.

Yes, can't sleep in most days off. I try, but it just doesn't happen.

Goodness, in Shreveport and it is 100 degrees at 7:07 pm. Gonna fry in
Mesquite tomorrow.

Sha, we have remained close with my Texas relatives. We even lived in mesquite in the early 1960's for a couple of years. My mom's family are all Italian Catholics. very different culture from north Texas. Last year we came for a wedding for my cousin's son. My uncle had a good day. It was a good way to remember him. Cancer got the better of him but he died the day after his 80th birthday so nice long life. He has reminded me of my dad for years, both speech and looks. Off to pool to cool off.

GAGWTA ladies!
Cheryl--keeping you close in my thoughts and prayers! The thread is always here for you when you're ready to post.
Annrae--I am so sorry about your friend's loss of his young granddaughter. Heart wrenching.
Laurie- so sorry for your family's loss, too.

Wanted to let you all know I am thinking of you this 4th of July weekend, and hope you enjoy the simple little things!

Good afternoon ladies

Laurie - I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you my deepest sympathy.

If any of you have any spare prayers, please say some for Alyssa. My ds just read on facebook that she is back in the hospital today. A blood test came back bad, (I dont think its sign of her heart rejection?), but she is having an eeg and mri of her spine and brain. We do know she has another brain tumor that they know about.

Hope you all enjoy your day.

GTAGWTA

Thanks everyone. Sending a prayer for Alyssa, Maryann. We arrived in Mesquite, relaxing at the hotel. It does not seem like the fourth of July to me this year, being away from home. We ate lunch at a Chili's along interstate 20. It was marginal at best and I know DH is grilling salmon today.

DD21 texted me that she and her BF ate going to see the Macy's fireworks tonight and the Cirque du Soleil in NYC on Wednesday. I am kinda jealous.

GAGWTA!!

I just typed out this long post and lost it.

Snappy-Sorry about your loss. It is great that your family is close. I am jealous of your daughter going to cirque. I love them. I try to go to everyone that comes to town. I am sorry to hear you didn't get your funding. That will be hard. I will still be praying for you.

Lisa-So glad to hear your are feeling better and not in much pain. Do you get sick after anesthia? It's hard for me to come out of and I spend more time in recovery than the surgery itself. So glad Meg was able to be there with you.

Ann- So good to hear from you and little things mean a lot.

Sha- Maybe it is because you both may have matured more. Maybe he realized what he lost in you. When you type about him, you can see the smile and happiness it creates in you.

PNM are you using your pool a lot now? I bet.

LMN- I bet your dS is relieved about not having that job!!! Congrats on the raise. Every little bit helps. How's the fridge? How is the ringing and dizziness? I will say a prayer for Alyssa.

My DS quit his job. He has another job that pays more and less hours. This is good for this semister because this is the toughest one where most flunk out. He sees the wisdom in not moving out because his two room mates are fighting and he is in the middle. He doesn't like that! So maybe that will wake him up!

My DD is in several camps. I want to expose her to different things because she has no idea what she wants to do. She is in videographer camp and is the assistant director. The Premiere is tomorrow and she is excited. I hope this helps her find her niche.
This was an abbreviated version.
Have a good day!!!

definitely have prayers for Alyssa! Her family and medical team too!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th.

Candy you are right... even now as I type this a smile came across my face. This morning, he texted me as I was texting him to tell him good morning. Then he called. He and his DS had a good weekend camping with the cub scouts. Was a little rain too. :goodvibes I am looking forward to the trip more and more... and I am not a fan of flying, but I will if that is how I have to see him (or to get to a place I want to see like England, France... etc :rotfl:)

Just back from my 2nd workout with a coworker. I was good Sunday night but started to hurt last night. I didnt drink much water yesterday. SO... I am hydrating now and had some yogart which is evidently good to have dairy afterwards because of protein and calories.... and a warm shower. Thankful for my muscle relaxer too!

Oh... what is that medication that is like dynamite when on chemo and are constipated??? a patient was asking me and its not that common with my clients. Thanks in advance!

Hope you all have a good night. Hugs to all and lots of love!!!! :rotfl:

Candy, you are right about Sha and her postings about R. It is almost poetic. Back to Baton Rouge today. We make many stops so long day. Back to business tomorrow.

Good afternoon ladies

Laurie - safe travels home and I am glad your ds has a summer job!

Anne - nice to see you. Dont you have a trip planned in the near future?

Candy - that is good that you are getting your dd involved in serveral career exploration camps. Good your ds has his priorities in line too with the job and room mates

Sha - yes when I read your posts I can tell that  is in the air!

Linda - thinking of you and the pool as my neighbors must be having a party. The kids are screaming, the dog is barking. I dont know why they are so loud. I have the central air on and windows closed.

Well yest. dh,ds and I decorated the room. Its about 80% done and looks good. Alyssas moms bff was there and she said that some test of the liver was bad and this could bring on seizures etc. so they are doing the 24hr. eeg and spine and brain mri? My meeting was about as good as could be last night. The school is barely hanging on by a thread. I hope they can make it through the coming year. Tough decisions will have to be made over the summer. I am glad I am not making them for sure. I had a dizzy spell last night. I just hate these things!

GTAGWTA. Thinking of you all.

Cheryl,Lisa, smiley and Pats mom - thinking of you all

Nice to be home and posting from a real computer rather than my iphone. Too many miles for 3 and a half days. I am droopy.

We were fortunate though, the weather was relatively nice Tuesday for the service and burial. It is going to be a lot hotter (over 100 the rest of the week). It was very sad following the hearse for one last ride past the landmarks int his little town, the block where my great grandmother held court for decades (the building was razed long ago), the cemetery where my grandparents are buried, my uncles's church, the building the family owned and had their business. it is still such a small town in many ways. The hotel we stayed in was less than five minutes from the funeral home, my cousin's house, the old house where my family lived in the early 1960's.

We are trying to plan a get together that does not involve a funeral, aniversary party, or wedding next summer, where we can kick back and relax together with the cousins and aunts, maybe about half way between the two cities to reduce the distance for both groups. I hope it happens, I hate the thought of losing track of kin we were very close to, more so in my early years.

MaryAnn, I am glad your DH and DS both pitched in and helped you with decorating the class room. Isn't it for vacation bible school? Does it start next week?

Candy, your daughter's summer plans sound like a lot of fun. I bet she will find her passion soon. Glad your DS has picked up on one of the many issues of sharing living quarters with his peers. He has plenty of time to test the waters of striking out on his own.

Sha, glad you are enjoying your workouts. What exercise is your workout of choice? It is a long way from your part of the world to Baton Rouge. You don't want to waste your time by driving. Unless you have a vehicle full, it isn't worth it to drive these days.

Ann and Linda, it is good to see you post, you as well, Barbara.

Wishing you weel, Lisa and Cheryl.

I am sure I left someone out.

I think I may subconsciously (or maybe not) be drawing this out to delay departing for work. I am not looking forward to it.

GAGWTA!

Laurie - Glad that you are safely home. I like your idea of a get together with your relatives under more pleasant circumstances. You must be exhausted.

MaryAnn - Sorry you are dealing with loud neighbors. It's a way of life for us year round. They're part of the reason I wear earplugs when I sleep.

Sha - I'm glad that you are working out. Once you get into a routine, you'll find that you miss it if you don't do it regularly. Hydration is very important. If you find that you are thirsty at any time, it means that you are already dehydrated. I drink constantly - even when I'm not working out. Helps with the chemo, too. If you're looking for an easy snack to have your workout that is high in protein, try a hardboiled egg.

Candy - Don't you love the drama with your DS and college roommates? It never ends!

I'm completely recovered from my surgery and am hoping the steri-strips finally fall off in the shower today. They are irritating my skin! Tomorrow begins another course of chemo. From what my chemo nurse friend tells me, this drug should be a lot easier on me than any of the others I have had. I certainly hope so! I have a short WDW trip planned for next Wednesday and Thursday. I am meeting one of my oldest and dearest friends and her daughter at The Studios. Meg and DS are going with us and Meg is playing Tour Guide as they have never been to any park other than the Magic Kingdom. Should be fun! I was amazed that I was able to get reservations at 50's Prime Time as well as Liberty Tree one week out from our trip. Possibly because it's during the week rather than the weekend.

I will post sometime this weekend and let everyone know how the chemo went.

Patti is a personal trainer on the side... so she changes it up all the time. May be more cardio one night than another. She is trying to incorporate a lot. The group is mainly teenage boys at the moment, but with the holiday weekend, people may have been away.

I will try anything I think... if I can do them, great, if not... well we either adapt it or I keep trying unless its too much. I don't know if I have a favorite. Not yet at least. Hydration is a biggie with me. I try hard but do not always succeed because of issues like work. Its hard to drink between patients. Been carrying a bottle of water all week, but havent had any yet. My other bottle, I left last week after I had my pedi. Need to go and get that as it is a filter bottle.

Do any of you remember the med for constipation that works really well on chemo patients?

I would probably fly all the time Laurie. I don't know if I would want to travel by myself in the car that distance. (thought I lost my post!) Plus it gives me more time there with him or wherever I am going to be at. Glad you made it back okay and I can relate about not wanting to head into work. I am suppose to creat a family FB page so we can keep up on family news. Haven't done it yet. Hope too soon but like to not think much when I am not working lately.

yes... there is something in the air. LOL just not ready to say it yet... but I realized the other day that I do. And I think it's mutual. Just taking it as it comes. :goodvibes

I guess I am headed back to work. Have a good one ladies!!! GAGWTA
