Thanks for the Welcome Everyone :grouphug:. I plan on staying tuned. To be honest this is the first time I reached out to anyone regarding my cancer. Never been to a support group, but my Mom is my hero

PeaNMe I hope you feel better.

Laurabelle I can bring as much chocolate as you need! And yes all cancer sucks! I :rotfl2: when you said 'Locust'. Some days it feels very much like a plague. At least its not FROGS!!!

OMG, not frogs!!!:scared1:

No hurricanes either by the way.

Can you tell I am stressing with June 1st looming?

I actually just sent an email to DD18's (make that 19 soon)
boyfriend's father in London offering for his som to evacuate to our house from Tulane with DD18 when the next hurricane threatens.

I can't believe I did that. He probably thinks I am an absolute nut case.

Ok I am a nut case. Can I play the "cancer card" and say cancer made me do it?

Be better soon, Linda. What do you do for boils, Laura?

Major congrats to that honor student, Merry.

Mary Ann, your voice may not be so hot right how, but your posts here are just right. I hate that you are in such pain. As others have said, the insurance will get sorted out. You need to focus on getting through this and getting well. Let your DH deal with it, if you can. I know, easier said than don, especially if you are the one that usually deals with all the paperwork at home, like me.

Jessaboo, i forgot to say hi. You sound like a real survivor. What treatment did you have other than the lumpectomy?

Laurie- Yes, cancer makes you nuts...I'll play cards with you!

We were at the dinner table last night (end of dinner) and I was holding the back of my head (I'm getting headaches daily from the latest med.) and that's when I felt something behind my ear. I asked my oldest dd to look at it and tell me what she saw. I had noticed 2 boils on my torso too since I did my last injection on Mon.
I actually thought of the plague of frogs next.:thumbsup2 Then I started conjugating the verb smite...smote...smitten. My oldest started clearing the table and thanked me for helping her lose her appetite. No problem, it is coming on swimsuit season!:lmao:

So here's the silly Mother's Day "Things We Love About Mom" list that made me cry... with explanations:

We love that...

-You fall out when I get a good grade (youngest dd)
This is from several seasons ago on American Idol. During the auditions a contestant's mom "fell out" over her son going to Hollywood. It was hysterical, so dramatic, lots of whooping, she even held on to him and dragged him down on the floor with her!:faint::rotfl2: Ever since then that's what I do when they bring home good grades!:thumbsup2

-You help me study Spanish! rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (oldest dd)
I don't speak Spanish, but when my oldest dd started class a few years ago, I wouldn't even try to speak it right when I helped her study, I would say it as wrong as I could so she would correct me. Like rolling my R's, I told her it was like holding down the "r" on the keyboard.

-You share your coffee with me. (hubby)
Yeah, because they just gave me a Dunkin' Donuts gift card...:drinking1:rolleyes1

Melissa- How exciting for your dd! I bet you're enjoying every moment it!:goodvibes

I am enjoying it all. It's just a tiny bit stressful trying to get from one thing to another when they're all back to back.

I expect locusts will be next...:rotfl2:
:rotfl:How funny! Not the boils, but what you said. Are they painful?

OMG, not frogs!!!:scared1:

Speaking of frogs. We have a tiny pond in our backyard. My dog Sasha loves the frogs each spring/summer. She doesn't want to kill them. She loves them. She hunts for them and then her tongue lolls out as she "smiles" at them and wags her tail. It's cute during the day, but she can hear them at night, so she asks to go out. I don't know how to tell her "I want to see my frogs" request from a "Man, I really need to go to the bathroom" request. So last night I spent 30 minutes trying to get her to "go" when she really just wanted a frog hunt. Ugh. Not the way I wanted to spend 3:00 to 3:30.

This is getting long...er sexy. Guess I better sign off if I want it to post. So GAGWTA!

Hi everyone! I love the "you fallout when I get good grades". That is hilarious!:rotfl2::lmao: I don't think your kids will ever forget that and will be talking about it to their grandkids. So funny and sweet!

Well, my Dad made it through surgery great. The new better surgeon ;) said he got several good biopsies but that everything looked good. So I am very hopeful. He was home by 2 pm and feeling fine. Isn't it weird to see your parents in a hospital bed, etc. He looked so small (hes skinny) and I felt so protective about him. Yet I still think of him as my protector. Weird.

Hope all are doing well! I am glad its Friday.
We are thinking of scooting off to Disney next Saturday for the long weekend. Still not 100% sure but I really, really, REALLY want to!

More later, GAGWTA!:grouphug:

Welcome Jessaboo and Candy30

Hi ladies... frogs make me think of my mom and Miss Lee and the rest of the group of college ladies. And speaking of Miss Lee.... not too good of news. She has ovarian cancer. They had left ovaries when she had a hysterectomy. But its more than that.... she has it also into her abdomen lining and the diaphragm. They are going to do 9 chemo, surgery and then more chemo. Please keep her in prayers. Mom will see her when we go to Virginia, either before or after we go to England. (doubt both).

Im not completely packed and suppose to be going to WDW today. I guess I need to get moving. I may have a thinking of you card to send to Miss Lee... will get Mickey or someone to sign it and send to her. Anyone need some magic sent? I am doing one for my friend Cait too. In case I didnt post it here, she said thank you for all the prayers and thoughts. She is surviving, it's going to be hard and Bob (her DH) is her rock. He handles tears very well.

:welcome:Jessaboo- You are so young to go through so much. Our sista Alice had the same tumor you did.

:welcome:Candy 30. I dont have breast cancer either but the sistas here have adopted me too and they are truly all amazing and inspire me to keep fighting etc. I have thyroid cancer which has spread to the lymph nodes, stage 4 plus on top of it I have a very rare agressive variant of it that they get about 1 patient a year with. Lucky me, I am Mrs. Agressive Variant 2009!!:rotfl2: At one point they thought I might have had lymphoma since it was acting so weird etc. Make yourself at home here, the sistas are the best!! Oh and my favorite candy is Kit Kats!!

Linda - Hope you are feeling better

Maureen - Continued prayers for your dad and enjoy your trip to the world

Sha - Praying for Miss Lee, that is so sweet what you are doing with the cards and I hope you have a great time too,

Laurie - Hmm, I play the cancer card all the time and so far its working great, but I suspect after a while my family will say, um, this is getting old!! Have you finished all the :laundy: yet?

Melissa- How are the tornadoes by you? That must be such an exciting time for your dd. Enjoy every minute of it.

Laura - Quickly look out your window and if you see gnats, locusts and hail, then I would say you are in big trouble sista!!:rotfl2:Seriously, I hope you are feeling better soon, Hmm, the letter B, I dont think I want to trade my belly button wound for your boil right now:rotfl2:Seriously, I will pray that this will resolve quickly and with not too much pain and discomfort for you. Love your lists!I think I would fall out if DS 21 actually had a girl friend at this point. Well there is someone but just a friend.

O.K. I am :yay: jumping for joy here. Dh called the ins. co. and between them and the drs. billing place it was over 1 hour. The drs. co. said we owed the money, They had a 3 way call and the ins. co. told them to get a supervisor which they did. The ins. co said they violated their contract by sending me the bill and if they want more money they can appeal it themselves to the ins. co. So what is my life worth to the ins. co., apparently $1,266.97 and not a penny more!!:rotfl2: So the surgeon who saved my life got about $400 bucks an hour for 3 hours work, plus he got a good experience because he told my dh he never saw anthing like this in his 17 years of head and neck surgery and he got to see where the operating room was at like 3:30 am since I was his lst patient after they hired him etc.

I talked to dh cousin on the phone with my bad voice,. He said to dh that I sounded terrible and he felt so sorry for me, um yeah, right, these people havent even sent me a get well card and only call when its something business related etc. This is the 1st time he actually heard my voice etc. Dh always says, oh she is hanging in there etc.

Hope you all have a great week end and GTAGWTA

Isn't it weird to see your parents in a hospital bed, etc. He looked so small (hes skinny) and I felt so protective about him. Yet I still think of him as my protector. Weird.
I felt the same way about my father. He was 6'2 and 220 lbs and got so small and fragile. I would turn into a lion if something wasn't done right int he hospital and turn into a puppydog when I walked into his hospital room. It is weird.

Laurabelle The card they gave you was priceless. No wonder you cried!
Jessaboo I think you are a very strong person to go through something at such a young age. Keep fighting girl!

:the sistas here have adopted me too and they are truly all amazing and inspire me to keep fighting etc.
I could tell everyone here has a golden heart from the posts I have read and feel blessed I found this post. Thanks everyone.

Sha-thanks for the welcome and give cyber hugs to your friend Catilin and Miss Lee.

We I am going to work (Yeah, I have to work through chemo because of having little sick time left) and I have my 2nd chemo treatment today. 2nd use of my Port. :scared1: I tell ya one thing. Being women and going through labor with kids and this port, there is no way I could be prudish about my body!!!!:rotfl: I may not post for a few days or more but I will be back. GTAGWTA

No family history. It was a phyllodes tumor.
Just a genetic fluke. :]

You're the first person I've "met" who also had a phyllodes tumor. I had my mastectomy on September 10th, and am in the middle of breast reconstruction.

In some really unwanted news, I got to the endocrinologist yesterday. I had my goiter sonogrammed in the fall, but the oncologist wasn't happy with the report; it didn't seem specific enough.

So I went yesterday, and had another sonogram and a biopsy. As if 7 needles in my neck wasn't bad enough, there's the fear of losing part of all of my thyroid. I should know more in "3 to 4 days"-- I presume that means business days, so the middle of next week.

It's so discouraging, to be back at the biopsy stage a year after all this crap started.

Hi Sistas!

I am asking for some big time prayers here. We got the call about 5 pm yest. that Alyssa wil be having her heart transplant sometime in the next 24 hous, so she might be in surgery right now. Please pray for this precious young lady. She is such a wonderful girl, she has alot of faith and she inspires me too. She has survived the leukemia and the bone marrow transplant for 16 years and I know God will bless her with a new heart too. Thanks,

Alice - Thinking of you sista, I wil write something more to you later, but I am off to Massapequa for ds lifeguard orientation for the suffolk and nassau lifeguards.

GTAGWTA

Maryann,

I hope things go good for Alyssa, What an ordeal for such a young person! She is in my prayers!

TC:cool1:

Let us know when you hear something, OK? She's in my prayers, as are all the wonderful people here.

And, LMP, kind of a chilly day to be in the water, isn't it?? Where will he be guarding-- the ocean or a pool??

The kids keep asking if we'll open the pool for Memorial Day. Ummm-- not unless the temps increase a good 20- 25 degrees in a hurry!!! I'm not wasting electricity to run a pump in these temperatures!!!

Great news about Alyssa, She made it through the transplanet and is now sedated and on a respirator with lots of tubes. That was the e mail we got. She wanted a picture of her old heart and one of the transplant doctors was nice enough to take some, the others said no. I think they said her head surgeon is one of the top in the world, this might be for childrens stuff since she is so tiny etc.

Alice - My ds didnt have to go in the water,. It was just outside at some swim club and he said he was freezing and he had jeans on. Everyone else had shorts etc. He is guarding at a pool in a condo complex by our house. He likes this place because you switch every hour and go in the clubhouse to check ids etc. Then out by the pool the next hour. So its not outside all day, He will float at other pools and will have to do that until the middle of June when his place opens that is like 3 blocks from our house. He guarded there last year. Even my older ds has not done ocean stuff. I think that is just too hard and scary. ds 1 has done a couple of saves so far and ds 3 did 1 so far I think. No cpr, jsut pulling kids out who went down under etc.

Now about your thyroid stuff. Ouch!! I only had 2 needle biopys, the sono, the pet scan and ct scan and the worst thing was the core biopsy. I hope you dont have to do thta one. They say its the most definitive. They actually take a small chunk of your thyroid out. All I can say is I hurt for days after that one! It was like a caulk gun going in your neck sideways. Not fun.

Melissa and Elizabeth _ Thought of you both today when on the road next to us I saw cars with plates from both Oklahoma and Texas!!

Mom brag - ds 21 just made it into his 2nd honor society so he is happy, but hmm, I think he should think about getting a job etc. Guess it will look o.k. on his resume etc. I think he needs an internship etc. in his field, business.

Laura - How are the boils today? Hope much better.

Thinking of you all. GTAGWTA

Just popping in quickly to give some  and :wizard: to all who need them!!
I am doing a very poor job of keeping up with the thread these days, but I keep you all in my thoughts! :)

Counting down to next Friday's graduation. Today was her acting final...they put on a show for parents. Tomorrow is Baccalaureate, her last choral concert (where she scored a duet), and graduate Sunday at church (she'll speak about what our church has meant to her). It goes on like this all week. Whee. But I am loving it. She's sort of stressed out and emotional though and it's a long way to Friday.

I'm not even going to attempt a catch-up. I am praying for all of you (and for the successful heart transplant). GAGWTA!

I'm so sorry to read about Kelly's death...praying for her family as they deal with their terrible loss.
:sad1::grouphug:

Each time a member of our cancer fellowship passes, I feel such a loss. But knowing she is free from pain and suffering still makes me smile. Prayers for all who loved Kelly.

Yours was malignant I take it?
It's very rare to find someone who has had a phyllodes tumor.

I'm proud of you. :3dglasses
