Where do I sign for a Boston meet, please?

Great story about your Poly stay, Linda. I have never stayed there, actually I have never even gotten off the monorail there. I really need to. Maybe I can get DH over there? What a great upgrade!!!

I am loving seeing the pictures of the BLT rooms. Wish they were not so expensive.

I agree about the lymphedema concerns. I had a lot of info about it in the book the hospital gave me after my surgery. I even went to a clinic and talked to a nurse at length about it.

A lady I work with who is also a survivor of 4 years knew about lymphdema but did not know what to avoid: burns, cuts, bug bites, sunburn anywhere on the affected arm. Also, avoid blood sticks, having blood pressure taken on that side. Avoid carrying your purse over your affected shoulder. Don't carry heavy bags, suitcases, even grocery bags with the weight either over your shoulder or with your arm hanging down. Don't wear tight jewelry or tight sleeves. Wear gloves in the garder and be judicious about using power tools and yard machines.

One last warning that is more for us by the coast, be careful when peeling any kind of shellfish as you can cut yourself and allow bacteria in.

If any of the above happen, treat it with topical stuff, and consider calling your doc for antibiotics if necessary. It is easier to be proactive initially than try to treat lymphedema long term. It is usually chronic.

Hope this is helpful.

Man I am a busy little typist today.

Linda, is your cold better?

Linda - Our DS is also now in love with the Poly after our upgrade last month. He doesn't seem to grasp that the room is over $600 per night rack rate, and it is NOT a DVC property! :rotfl2: The room we reserved was the least expensive room they had, with an AP discount! I have to say the upgrade was an AMAZING room. I think they upgraded us hoping we wouldn't be able to resist booking MK view concierge next time. Um, for $600 per night I can resist! ;)
We would love for you to come to Dallas! Plenty of stuff to take pictures of! DH took 200 photos in 3 hours at the botanical gardens yesterday. He loaded them into the desktop, but I didn't see any in PhotoBucket so I don't think he has posted any yet. He's at work now.

Laurie - We really enjoy eating at Kona in the Poly for breakfast and dinner. They also have a new sushi bar. DS got some sushi for his appetizer this past time and it was yummy! We had never taken the time to wander around the resort before, but it is lovely.

LOL, I guess I'm a busy little typist, too. (I have to get the kids to guitar lessons soon and then DS has baseball tryouts.) My throat feels like it has glass in it, it was difficult to sleep. My DH came down with it last night, too. Thanks for asking. I felt so badly for our friends last night when they came to pick up their kids (who still didn't know yet), especially the wife. She just looked so sad. I never experienced a miscarriage but I imagine it must be awful. I'm worried about her. I'm going to buy her some flowers or something nice today.

If you go to visit the Poly, go at night. They light the torches, and you can see the fireworks from there followed by the Electric Water Pageant. I'd probably get a glass of wine, or a snack, and bring it down to the beach to sit and relax for a while. Check out times on Deb's sight. The torches and the boats, monorail, resorts, beaches, waterfalls, fragrant scents, etc, make it simply an amazing atmosphere. :cloud9: Sometimes on our first night, rather than use up a days' tickets, we "ride the rails", visiting all the monorail resorts and stopping to walk around, hit the gift shops, get a drink, walk outside, take pictures, etc. We'll even hop on the boat to go over to WL too. It's one of our favorite things to do in the World. :goodvibes

Have a good day, everyone! :wizard:

jsg, I didn't realize you also got an upgrade (don't think I got to that part in your report). Tell me more about it. Yes, I think that's what happens - it kind of just "sucks you in"! :worship: We never actually went to Kona, but we did fall in love with Ohana that trip!

I've posted about it before, and it was a long story, but a psychic I'd seen months before, who I believe brought my father through, told me I'd be going to Hawaii. I'd told her, no, just Florida (originally booked in the Contemporary Tower). She insisted, no, Hawaii. "Because he's showing me leis being put around your neck." Sure enough, we were later moved and upgraded to the Poly, and when we arrived at the Concierge/Hawaii building, there were cast members standing there waiting to put leis around our necks. And when they did, I was a bawling fool. It was my 40th bday trip and I felt like it was somehow a present from him. I also got BC the following year, so it had even more meaning for me then. (Kind of like the quiet before the storm, LOL.)

I agree, at over $600/night, we won't be going back there anytime soon, unless we hit the lottery or something!

Thanks for steering us to a night visit, Linda.

OK, thanks to you two, JSK, I did not know about the sushi at Kona and the sushi bar. DH would not touch it, but I can't get enough sushi.

I forget you got a Poly upgrade as well, JSK.

I am off to do my raking thing. If I can get the dregs of the debris up I want to mow the grass before we leave. I am embarassed about how our yard looks.

Linda - Wow! Now that is freaky! I've never been to a psychic. I think it would be cool, I've just never gone to one. What a neat story!
Ours isn't that interesting. :rotfl2: We just had 2 nights at the Poly between our SSR and AKV ressies. DH had mentioned he thought it would be nice to stay there, and when I found an AP rate I decided to book it. We were booked at WL because DS likes it there, but I thought it would be fun to try the Poly. We needed a resort with a marina because we were doing the fishing excursion, so the Poly was good. We were there for Mon & Tue nights, so I think that helped with the upgrade. Short stay, nights that probably aren't very busy. We had also been in a concierge room at AK the week before so maybe they took that into consideration.
I was sick the morning we switched resorts. The CM who checked us in said "You'll be in concierge in our Hawaii building." I was thrilled, but I just said "Oh, OK. Thank you." It was only 10 AM and we didn't get into the room until after 1 PM. I was seriously dragging by then. DH and DS ended up going to MK that night and I just stayed in the room. But the view of the water pageant and Wishes took some of the sting out of being sick! ;) Yes, I suppose if we came into money we would consider booking some nights there. But since we never buy Lotto tickets I guess we'll just settle for a concierge studio at AKV for now. That's what I booked for next summer. :)

Greetings ladies....yes I've been a slacker poster lately, but trying to read and keep up!

alicecc...I did not have a mast either, but I am so glad we have experienced knowledgeable ladies here to help!

Linda, I remember you telling the Hawaii/Poly/lei story before....it still have me goosebumps (in a good way!) the second time! I have been doing a lot of reminiscing and thinking about my dear friend Joanne who just passed, remembering little things, happy memories, and a few little God Winks.....like at the vet this morning (kitty physical) there was a bulletin board with a posting about a 1 yr old choc lab who needed a home, he was rescued from a kill shelter.....in Kentucky...which is where Joanne lived. DH and I were just glancing at it as we've been somewhat considering the idea of a dog (seeking an already trained and housebroken, but not too old, well behaved, non shedding , good with cats and grandkids but mean to intruders out here in the woods, can be left home alone all day, not too big and not too small, perfect dog. :rolleyes1 ) and I grinned and said that Kentucky thing might be an omen haha...then thought nope...the Kentucky thing is to remind me that Joanne would say we're NUTS to consider a dog. LOL

Tasha the Kitty is aging, she is probably in early renal failure based on last year's exam, and been eating an expensive presc cat food, and this morning had blood work done as they think she might be hyperthyroid. So...$200+ today...and we'll find out if she needs thyroid meds and now we're on to the canned presc food instead of dry due to her being a bit dehydrated and having some teeth issues too. Sigh. Poor kitty.

snappy, I got your PM, hope you got mine! I can't wait to meet you!!
Sis from NH and I arrive Friday mid afternoon, Colorado sis not til early evening. We'll be at the Dolphin, so very close to you snappy! :goodvibes Breakfast back at Spoodles after the RFTC might be fun....I love their breakfast!!
Honestly, I am waiting to get there to work out touring plans in more detail with them, one sis (from Colorado) has not been in years, the other more recently but even she has not seen some of the newer things. One thing I need to do is look at EMH..I do not like to do the morning EMH parks. I have an AP -so the thought of Epcot Friday late aft/night is tempting and Future World is open til 10, but I doubt sisters will be up for that, having to burn a hopper day -the Colorado one esp would not get her money's worth. We do have a few of ADRs over the weekend...one that they both wanted for certain, at Coral Reef for an early dinner on SUnday (RFTC day) and a Tusker House breakfast Sat mid-morning. Monday a noon lunch at 50's Prime Time, not sure if we'll keep that. We leave Tuesday around noon.

GAGWTA!! :grouphug:

I like the Spoodles idea, I was thinking about going there when we were in the world in May but it never worked out. Also, since you like the evening EMH, what about Sunday night going to the Studios?

Sha, would either of those work for you?

Loved the God wink. Sorry your kitty is ailing.

Dogs can be a lot of trouble, Ann. I am living that with our puppy Naj. Snappy however is still her old sweet self. We think Snappy was about a year old when we got her, it did not take us long to totally fall in love with her. After two years she was consoling us when we needed consolation. Very loving doggie.

She is a low maintenance dog. Too bad that don't come with a guarantee of that. Naj is the opposite. We have the female dog version of Dr. Jeckell and Mr. Hyde playing at our house.

Ann - Sorry to hear about your kitty. Our Amanda had renal failure at the end. We were so sad to lose her. She was 16.
Now we have Arabella the demon cat. I don't know if we will ever be able to put our Christmas tree up again. I was too scared to chance it last year, and this year she is no better! Evil thing has chewed up every pair of Crocs I own, clawed the heck out of my furniture, she frequently jumps about 6 feet up the wall trying to catch something that isn't there. Pure evil. :sad2: She turned a year in May. I am thinking she will NEVER settle down. Aurora is our 3 year old. Just a big, shaggy, long-haired gray poof. She isn't quite as naughty as Arabella, but she has quite a taste for wires and straps. She destroyed my last purse handle, and she is working on the handle of my laptop case. She chewed through every single wire of the Christmas tree lights 2 years ago, so my tree woes are actually ongoing. :headache:

Mom is having issues with her new neighbors brawling in the parking lot. She has been fussing about them since they moved in a few weeks ago, and it just seems to be getting worse. I finally called the leasing office myself today and told them they HAVE to do something. Mom called the police last night but by the time the police arrived the kids had scattered. The lady I spoke with assured me that they will take care of it, so we shall see. I know at our last apartment we had HORRIBLE people move in next door and I was complaining every single day. I called the police when they decided to shoot fireworks off their patio  , but the office never did anything. It got so bad we MOVED OUT to get away from them. Moving is not really an option for Mom, so the office needs to demand that the neighbors abide by the terms of their lease.

Ann sorry to hear that Tasha isnt doing well. George died of acute renal failure, all because of a bladder stone blocking in his urethra.

JSG I have to say that Arabella doesnt sound wicked... just high maintainance LOL

I like the Spoodles idea, I was thinking about going there when we were in the world in May but it never worked out. Also, since you like the evening EMH, what about Sunday night going to the Studios?

Sha, would either of those work for you?

Hee hee I have to laugh at your dr jeckell and mr hyde dog... I called George Mr Hiss and Spit when we would go to the vet LOL

The breakfast at Spoodles sounds great. I think I may be a count of 3, as I may invite a friend who may be there. She may need the added company.

There is also EMH at Epcot Friday if anyone is up to being there too.

Sign me up for EPCOT pm EMH.

I'll introduce y'all to crawfish ettouffee at the Louisiana booth.

Awesome! Just phone tag me on where to be when :)

What time are you planning for Spoodles on Sunday?

So very sorry, Linda. :grouphug:

Hang in there. sweetie.

You are gonna try MY ettoufee. I may have to freeze some and defrost and heat it up in a BW kitchen for you someday.

Need to do it in the spring though as that is when they are plentiful.

Hope your throat is better.

Sha, I am not sure, sometime after the race. We are only doin the 1 miler.
I think I better check how long Spoodles serves breakfast????

Linda, I am so sorry.

I was busy, got called out to work. After looking at our investment account I am really thinking of downgrading to POP from Wilderness. Anyone want to talk me out of it! HA!:lmao: I need to be fiscally responsible. I wish the stock market would rally. Not likely. Sigh.

Oh Linda...I'm so sorry  You're right, what a week....I am headed to my friend's memorial service this morning.

October and RFTC...here I come!!:thumbsup2

Laurie.....Spoodles serves breakfast til 11:00 I believe. Should we try for an ADR 10:30ish? The event schedule says the "awards/celebration" for the races to be at 9:15. I imagine we will be done with the fun run/walk well before that since it's only a mile and starts at 7:45..... so it depending on how long we want to hang there :confused3 I am not sure my sisters will want to do the bkfast or head out to the parks, but I will count them in and then check with them..even if they don't I would love to do it if you do Laurie (and Sha!), then I can catch them again later.

GAGWTA....

Ok, so the count is 3 for you Ann.

Sha will it be just you and your mom or a friend as well?

My DH will also be in the count.

10:30 sounds like plenty of time for us to get back in the car from the race.

Ann, after Sha weighs in do you wnat to make the reservation or do you want me to.

I am nervously excited here. Only once before have I done so little planning right before.

Good thing I took care of the car rental and Naj's boarding reservation way back. I actually made my room reservation back in January so I can't really say this is a spur of the moment trip.

Our DD12 is sort of wistful about missing this trip. She is looking forward to staying with my mom. My sister is also going to stay at mom's to pitch in. She also wants to be here take mom in on Thursday to see the surgeon to get the MRI results.

I hope Laura and her family are having a good time. I believe they might be coming home tomorrow.
