I ran a book club in RL - and it went well for a while. I think a cyber book club would be even better! No worries about food and drink, or the night to drive to someone's home. We could post a "chat" time as well too, but it's up to you - just a suggestion. I had a little work book that brought up points to discuss and I can pm some of them to you if you'd like. I too, love all types of books! Count me in!!! And thanks for the suggestion - you rock girl.

I think this is something I could do. When my kids go back to school, it's hard to go to the meetings in the evenings. This will be much better for me. I agree about not having to plan food and drink. However, can I still have a margarita while discussing it on the dis!

Here are a few thoughts I am having...

Have an ongoing discussion thread which will start over with each new book.

Always have one book "on deck" for those who need to reserve it at the library or order it online.

Have a set chat time.

How does this sound? Keep checking in here for now...

THANK YOU to all who want to help get this thing underway! I don't know how well I will do at organizing it all by my lonesome, so help is always appreciated!

I think all members of the DIS should be able to join in when they would like to, but if you think it should be exclusionary we can definitely discuss it. I do not want to call all of the shots! I have never been in a book club, so this is all new to me.

ONE RULE: No spoilers about the ending until the final discussion... Some of us may not have gotten there! (Sorry, I hate when people ruin the end of a book for me)

Now, post some ideas, folks! We'd love to hear how you think this thing should operate!

OK - how do we nominate a first book? Do you want to poll interested DISers? If you start a new thread, make mention of it here because sometimes I just check in on threads I'm already subscribed to, rather than being able to check all new threads. What's a reasonable timeframe for reading?
