If you're a beer snob come here to give suggestions on beers you've tried, or discuss beers you'd like to try!

Tried a bad beer? Warn the rest of us!
Tried a great beer? Suggest it to the rest of us!

Proud to be a beer snob? Then but the image in your signature!

So, who's had a great beer lately?

I don't consider myself a beer snob...except for the fact that I do not like light beers.

So, not lately but I've always liked Carlsberg.

Usually I just drink Molson Ice though.

I can't drink Budweiser products because they give me a headache, but I don't think that makes me a beer snob. I primarily drink Becks Premiere Light, Killian's or Corona. We really liked the Tusker Beer at AKL though.

Microbrews are near and dear to my heart. :cheer2:

The BEST microbrews are: Tuckaleechee porter - Smokey Mountain Brewery
Exodus porter - Sweetwater brewery, Sweetwater Blue - Sweetwater Brewery, Blue Moon is a nice blonde beer.

The WORST beers - Terrapin Cream Ale....*shudder* I am actually on my 3rd...and it is getting better, LOL ( I did buy it and I can't waste beer):p

The best German beer my lips have touched is Oberdorfer...pure heaven. :cloud9:

I don't know if anyone remember Reignes from the Akershus in WDW..but ....it was GOOOOOD :cloud9:

Nice to see some other beer lovers out there!
I recently had the Scottish Beer: McEwans.
Nice and dark, no Guiness or (a good recommendation) Storm King, but pretty tasty.
Must be pretty easy to get ahold of, I found it at my corner White Hen...

When microbrewing your own, it's best to choose your own blend of grain and malt, rather than going with a syrup or kit...

There are magazines and books that are quite helpful...and it is loads of fun.

:goodvibes

I've been looking for a good home kit...
Any suggestion on which kit to go with? It seems like there are so many when you really start looking around.

I like Ybor Gold, Presidente, and Stella Artois.

I like IPA's....Harpoon is a local brew and one of my favorites! I also like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Sam Adams Octoberfest!! (another local brew!) Although these all sound great there is nothing but bud light in the fridge!

I had that with my Princess Lunch several months ago. :teeth: It WAS quite good.

Nothing like a princess lunch and an ice cold beer! Like hotdogs and baseball...

One of the best I've ever had (and sadly, can't seem to find in the US) is called A Le Coq, and it's an Estonian beer. I don't know enough about beer to be able to describe it, but as a frame of reference, I usually drink Labbatt Blue, find it (Blue) to be a little more bitter than I like, but don't know what sort of stuff to try. A Le Coq was a bit less bitter, and was very smooth going down.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, I loves me some nice barely cold Newcastle Brown.

NO KIT FOR YOU!!!

Find a copy of The New Complete Joy Of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian.

Read it...play and figure out what you want to do.

Plan on a total of about 6 hours of your time into a batch of brew...

3 or so initially, combining grains and malts and getting the wort...

adding the hops you've chosen...and the yeasts plus additional sugars...

Have fun with this...It should be fun and yummy.

Usually the bitterness comes from the Hopps... Steer clear of Pale Ales.

Looking forward to building a MicroBrew - thanks for the tips!

There is a hardware store right down the street that sells all diffrent sizes of stills, maybe I should just make some Moonshine!

LOL...I am going to my mountain cabin on Saturday, you wouldn't believe how many people still make shine. :earseek:

I read an article once on how to make shine in a toilet using only what is available to you in prison.

It was interesting - Exact numbers of sugar packets, etc...
However, it did warn you that you may go blind, lol!

I'll have to track that down...
