In yet another instance of unacceptability, not a pretty sight was seen in the standby line at Spidey on Sunday night. It could be a reflection of the extremely unruly crowd that night (my opinion) ... But again this disgusting situation or anything like it wasn't present at AK or Epcot this weekend  :stir:

Further, what's with the lack of dress code? It seems bikini's (tops and bottoms) for girls and bathing suit bottoms for men are now acceptable park wear at USO? I'm telling you, some of the people wearing these bathing suits are ones you'd wish were covered up! :confused3

Sounds like you were just unlucky. I know of worse things than underwear that have been on the floor at Epcot. Guests can be disgusting, and sometimes other guests find that out the hard way.

Mr. Nonacho, it sounds like you read that "disgusting things at WDW" thread too. That was quite an eye opener!!!

Oh, I don't doubt things too happen at WDW (humanity is hitting new lows) but I do believe it is rectified quicker than at USO. But I will say that in all my years of WDW visits (AP'ers for 10+) I've never seen anything this disgusting.

Since I've never seen anything disgusting, in my 10+ years of visiting USO, I guess I can't comment on how quickly things are rectified. The most disgusting thing I've seen at WDW is just a filthy bathroom with garbage cans overflowing and garbage all over the floor. It obvously hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. No big deal though. Usually things are in pretty good shape. I've got no complaints about either place. Maybe I just don't look hard enough and am just happy to be there!

You mean you didn't sign the Customer Code of Conduct when you bought your Universal tickets? :confused3

Universal Customer Code of Conduct:
You are now entering Universal Studios. Although we know you just probably came from WDW - your behavior MUST change immediately to enter these gates. We do understand that you had the perfect manners with the Mouse (all WDW resort guests are perfect, as is the resort), you must not do that here.

a) Dress Code: You must change before you arrive from WDW. We realize that all WDW guests are conservatively dressed and this may be an inconvenience, however, at Universal, we require that you "let it all hang out." Spandex and bikinis are required for those not considered professional athletes or have a body that could be considered for the cover of Vanity Fair. Any male that needs a lawn mower to groom back must go either topless or use muscle shirt with sleeves cut even more to showcase hairy shoulder blades. Again, we know you would never dress this way at WDW, but you must make an effort for Universal.

b) Waste Removal: Disgusting stuff must be left all over the park since we have a policy against prompt cleanups. Please leave your most disgusting items (preferably with human stuff in it) around the parks. Studies have found that it is much better customer service to gross out one's guests. The Mouse just does not get this. This is also because we require our Team Members to change their behavior when working for us. As many of our Team Members also work at the Mouse, we need to demand a different working environment for them at Universal. They can be prompt, polite and hardworking when they do their shifts at the Mouse. However, the days they work for us, they need to be slovenly, rude and lazy.

c) Customer Attitude: Although we know that you had impeccable manners during your visit to WDW, you must change when you enter Universal. We understand that the parks usually share the same guests, however, we must insist that you not behave the same way you would at Disney. At Universal, you must cut lines, shove, push baby strollers into people, pick zits on your husband's back or face while waiting in line(oh wait - that was in the Disgusting Disney thread - scratch that one), have your kids urinate in the bushes, etc. We know this NEVER, EVER happens at Disney, despite the postings to the contrary. So, let yourselves go - do it at Universal.

Have a great time!

:rotfl: I've seen much worse at Disney. Almost every bathroom was gross (and there were roaches), the little pond surrounding It's a Small World was full of food and cups, and the theater for almost every 3D show was full of garbage under the seats. For the 3D shows they culd have cleaned the theater quickly before letting more guests in, but nope... all day they were full of garbage.

I'm amazed that you've seen worse than dirty underwear at WDW. I've been there probably over 500 times and never seen the likes of this. Disgusting bathrooms you say? Sure, but at least it's in the bathroom... ;)

Look, I'm a USO AP'er as well, for at least another month anyway, and I haven't seen anything nearly this bad at USO before either. BUT the reports of this type of thing have been showing up a lot recently and it seems perhaps a trend may be starting... :confused3

As for all of the other comments satirically comparing "the perfect WDW" to "the auful USO", they were funny but please don't try to infer that I find fault with USO just because. Like I said I'm an AP'er, I have never had a problem with a TM, they seem great to me. The Parks are always clean, at least in the public areas although I will agree that the clientele of the two parks are somewhat different demographically speaking.

All in good fun PeterPirate, all in fun. You did have the "stirring the pot" :stir: smilie in your first post :goodvibes

You really should read the "Disgusting things seen at WDW" thread over on the Community board. It is an eye opener. I still believe that certain people just do repulsive things. In the minutes that it takes either park to clean the repulsive thing up - there are going to be people who see it and report it. The number of people reporting seeing feces and people urinating in WDW makes it sound like it is a virtual open toilet. But counter the relatively few people that have actually spotted something with the millions and millions who never see something, and I would say that you have two outstanding examples of how Theme Parks should be run.

I've mentioned this ad nauseam, but will mention it once again.

The MOST disgusting thing I have ever personally witnessed, anywhere (and I have travelled extensively both here and overseas) was in my concierge room at the deluxe Polynesian at the venerated Walt Disney World.

I found a large green glob of greasy, grimy (oh wait that is a song)
I found a half-dollar size glob of dried, crusty, green SNOT on my DS4's pillow case (after he slept on it all night.) We also found an empty bottle of decongestant in the trash and three blister packs of prescription medication (with the guy's name on it) over on top of the TV. Previous tenent in our room was obviously sick - so wonder whose SNOT that was on the pillow?

Not only was this disgustingly, stomach turning, gross, but it also was a health hazard. Seeing one's toddler sleeping on somebody else's snot is an experience I never want to repeat.

The Poly staff had made the beds right on top of dirty sheets. The room looked cleaned and ready to go, but we did not realize what was lurking under that bed spread. Especially late at night when we arrived at the room. This time they got caught because of the bodily fluids on the sheets and the evidence of sick people still in the room. Does make one wonder how many other times they have made the beds without changing the sheets.

And yes, my kid did get sick a couple of days later - congested, fever, etc. Coincidence? Maybe.

But...do I now think that the entire set of Deluxe hotels at Disney are disgusting? No. Things happen. Do I think that WDW is inferior to USO because of one incident? No. Do I think the PBH's cleaning staff is far superior to the Poly's? No. (ok - I lied - yes I like PBH better than the Poly.) Others have reported problems with their rooms at both parks. Doesn't mean that either one is better than the other (or worse.)

Personally, with the sheer amount of people that traipse through the parks and hotel rooms, and some from countries with customs different from ours, I am surprised that we don't hear many, many more little gross tidbits.

I think that is a testament to the time and effort that both sets of parks put into their customer service.

The image isn't good, flatline...Not good at all. :teeth:

it's still not as bad as the real sights we've been seeing lately. my wife and I have noticed some really trashy dressed people this past year at all of the parks. pushing a stroller around wearing a bikini with your C Section scar is not a good look. it's bad enough on the beach, but It's 100 times worse in a theme park.

Oh, I agree totally flatline. Some things should embarass people but they don't! I've seen too many flabby parts peaking out of places lately...And don't get me wrong, I'm no spring chicken with six pack abs but I don't advertise it either! :cool1:

goofy, I didn't think you were really giving me a hard time but just in case anyone thought I was only looking for trouble I thought I'd respond...Perhaps the "stirring the pot" wasn't such a good idea.

Also, when did public urination become socially acceptable? I see it everywhere, even theme parks but particularily driving and often when a rest area is within a few miles. Last week in an accident traffic jam on the turnpike three young girls (14ish) got out of their van, walked over to the grass, not behind bushes or trees, pulled down their pants and did their business while the entire traffic jam looked on! My daughter and I laughed so hard I nearly had to go myself!

Sorry to go off topic but this behavior all seems related somehow.

:stir: :rotfl2: All Republicans, or only Republicans in too tight Spandex? :rotfl2: :stir:

BTW - OT -but congrats on the weight loss!! I am in awe and more than just a bit jealous.

Well, I have been holding this one back for a while, mainly because it just sounds too outrageous to believe, but here is anyway.
Last summer one day late in the evening I was in Epcot and decided to go ride Soarin'. It was probably about 8:00 or so. I went through the line which surprisingly wasn't that long and walked down to my concourse. About halfway there, I smelled something and looked down and there was feces in the middle of the line. People were just stepping over it and it looked like it had been stepped in a few times and it was tracked down the line. There was no CM in sight. Now, as many people that walk through that line, don't you think someone should have reported it right away to avoid it turning into what it did?
Oh, and I have never seen the trash so piled up in the line like I saw last Saturday night in MK. I was in the line at Space Mountain and there was trash everywhere. The part I didn't get is alot of was right near the exit to the tower so any CM coming and going from the tower had to see it.
***My disclaimer is that I have worked at both Universal and Disney and enjoy both. I don't play favorites, and don't consider myself biased against one or the other.
There, that's my two cents... :stir:

ref OT- thanks so much for the support. I still have a ways to go and have been a little frustrated lately, but hangin in there! (I truly thought I would be done by this vacation, but have to re-set my goals again for the end of summer, as you can see its almost Universal time!)

I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who hasn't encountered feces in a theme park.

I've seen goose poop on WDW golf courses, does that count?

This is what I noticed on our trip. We just returned a couple of days ago. We did 4 nights at Disney & 6 nights at Universal. Disney seemed to be much more family oriented. By that I mean there were allot of families there. Universal had allot of late teen, early 20's people who where there with friends. The first thing we noticed at the Universal parks was the people around us using the F word. It didn't seem to matter that little kids were in the area. People were using the F word without regard for anyone. The only time I heard the Fword at Disney was when I said it (I slipped), and boy did I feel like the black sheep of Disney world.

I do prefer the Universal Hotels then all of Disney's Moderates. I'm still indecided on the deluxes at Disney compared to Universal Hotels. But I can see that the draw to Universal for me is the onsite hotels. You really have plenty of time to relax and enjoy your vacation with FOTL.
