Directions to WDW not using I-4

I know that I have read about alternate routes to get to WDW if you don't want to travel on I-4. My forum searching skills seem to be failing me just when I need them most and I can't seem to find any of the threads that have other ways to get to Disney.

We are staying at HRH and will be going over to WDW on three different occasions - once to MK, once to DTD and once to the Polynesian (if that makes a difference on which roads to take). There will be times when taking I-4 might be the preferable way to travel - like coming back from MVMCP at midnight, but other times I think the traffic might make the trip longer on I-4 than taking an alternate route.

If anyone has the time and knowledge, would you be so kind as to tell me other ways to get to where I am going? And if you could speak slowly and use small words for the geographically-impaired, that would be swell too!

Thanks so much!

Google maps will be your friend after I tell you the street names that can be used. The directions I will give are very simple. :goodvibes

From the HRH parking area, you'll want to exit via the main entrance. Across from you should be the Portofino. You'll want to turn LEFT at that light (I don't remember the road name). At the next light, you'll want to turn LEFT again. This will put you on Vineland. Follow Vineland around and when you have to, turn LEFT on to Turkey Lake Road. Take Turkey Lake all the way down. Turkey Lake Road will turn into Palm Parkway at one point. Stay on Palm Parkway. Eventually you will come to 535. Turn LEFT on to 535. There will be a WDW entrance on the RIGHT. If you miss that entrance, keep going on 535 until you reach 536 (giant intersection) and turn RIGHT. That will also take you to the WDW area. From there, follow the appropriate signs.

Returning from WDW is a bit trickier. Your best bet is to follow the signs for 536 (or I4 East) and go from there. You'll want to take exit 75 (Kirkman; on the left) from I4 to get to Universal.

Thanks so much! :worship: Really appreciate it!!!
And, yes, Google Maps should work much better now that I know the names of the roads! However, should you see an orange Jeep riding around Orlando looking lost as a goose close to Christmas, just point me in the right direction. :rotfl:

This is a really pretty way to go and very simple once you have done it once.

You can also take Sand Lake road to 535. Take Turkey Lake to Sand Lake and turn right. Take Sand Lake to 535 and turn left. Follow 535 right to WDW.

Thanks everybody, you guys rock! Now all I have to do is wait for December to get here :rolleyes1

Hope you all have wonderful holidays with the ones you love! :santa:

That's the way we go. It is the pretty route --- not the Turkey Lake all the way down route.

Lots of good dining there too if you don't eat at the parks. I LOVE Two Jays!

The street that meets Sand lake rd where it ends is technically not 535,it's Apopka Vineland rd (435),if you take that south it will meet with Winter Garden Vineland rd (535) and from there south it is 535.
