Direct vs resale question

We have 150 OKW points bought direct, thinking of adding on 50 at BWV. It seems that most of the resale restrictions wouldn't really impact us since we already have the "blue card", can get the discounts on dining and passes, etc. Am I missing something? At $210/pt direct its a fairly big difference to the resale market at probably under $150.

You just won't be able to use the resale BWV points at RIV (and probably any other future resorts) nor for trades other than RCI. I'm guessing you're buying to stay at BWV though so neither would be an issue.

Smaller contracts tend to be more expensive per point.
Finding a matching UY month with resale for a specific number of pts might take a while. (using contracts with different UYs can be a big hassle if you are planning to use them together.)

But if it were me, I'd be looking resale, yes.

I am considering a 50 point add on at SSR. Even find a resale listing to match my UY is hard and a lot of contracts are stripped. Obviously the direct price for SSR is less than BWV but it seems way easier. I am leaning towards direct so I can use all my points at any resort. We stayed at RIV and loved it. My math comes out to about $30 more per point going direct and we would get this years points.

For you, buying direct may make sense, it seems like you almost got everything justified.

For the OP, it really does seem like resale would be better, as there's really no extra benefits. If OP want to stay at another resort, can use original OKW for the sleep around points.

Great3

Unless you plan to use the points at RIV, I don't see why you'd buy it direct. If you plan to use it at RIV, I'm not sure why you're buying BWV at all.

I couldn’t justify buying BWV direct either other than if I couldn’t find my UY. Luckily I was able to find one. The shorter life contract makes it financially harder to swallow a direct purchase. Like you I have my blue card benefits and so my BWV points will be mainly to book fall visits for food and wine. So doesn’t matter if resale or not.
