Direct vs resale and financing direct question

Been looking at buying DVC for about a year. I’ve worked very hard during the pandemic as a frontline healthcare worker and the deal with my family was that the extra money I made due to being away from home we would use to buy DVC. I know the major things about buying direct vs resale but what are some of the small things I may be missing? Also, at first I thought about paying cash but now thinking about financing at least part of the contract and using some of my overtime money on something else as well. When you buy direct from Disney do you get to pick who you finance through or do you have to finance through Disney?

Personally, I'd buy a resale at a resort you love and plan to add on over time (and stay in your budget). I always use a credit card to pay as much as the broker will allow (sometimes up to 5K) to get cash back. I always write it into my offer that I want to pay xxx on a credit card. Once you are a resale member, you can add on direct in smaller increments (like 50 points) until you hit 150 points for perks.

If you have a Disney Visa you get six months 0% buying direct (up to 10K I think) and 2% cash back. There have been $300 sign up bonuses recently to apply for new cc.

Thank you for your service. You work hard so enjoy your success!

Thank you for your service. With Disney, you finance with them. Of course, you can always do your own financing for a private loan and then use that to pay Disney.

In case you are not aware, you can use a Disney Visa and get 6 months of 0% interest, Disney will also spread out the charges for up to 90 days so you can get a nice long stretch. We did this when buying just so we didn’t have to pay right away.

The big thing right now for buying direct is really whether or not you want to use your points at RIV and future resorts. Depending on what resort you are leaning toward, the cost difference may not be that large to get dirext points.

However, you still want to buy a resort you want to be at so that is important no matter which way you go!
