Direct after Resale...Are all points now equal in the eyes of Disney?

I recently purchased 250 points resale and am throwing around idea of 25-50 direct add on points. I am looking to find out if I do buy some direct points does Disney now consider my contract a direct contract for all of my points and does this now entitle me to all of the pre 2016 and 2011 benifits/perks that were taken away from resale buyers? I know there are some strong thoughts out there about using points anywhere but at Disney's Resorts and probably won't but would like the ability if it's possible.

No. The points are not equal. Your post-4/16 resale points can never be traded for Disney Collection, Cruises, etc.

Much like home resort, resale vs. direct cannot be changed. They are one, or the other.

Bummer, what about the direct add on points? Does having them get all the extra?

The direct points qualify you for a blue member card and associated perks.

Last week I completed my first DVC purchase via resale.

Fast forward a few days to Tuesday. After getting off the phone with my Guide and purchasing 25 direct points add-on (same resort and UY), it took 2 hours before my points were loaded and links changed. I now have full member perks, and was even able to get into the sold out Typhoon Lagoon Membership Magic event in June. Already the perks are paying off (well, technically I paid lol). Plus I plan on getting Gold Passes for me and my wife.

You bet I'm happy. I also only plan on using my points for DVC properties, so the Collection and Cruise Line limitations are of no concern to me.
