Does anyone know if US/IOA/Citywalk has a Dippin Dots? My DD9 is crazy for them and likes to see if they are located in theme parks we visit. I know they had one at SeaWorld last year.

Yes they have them in a few locations at each park.

I know definately in Amity in the Studios.....we stopped last summer cuz the kids were clamoring for DD....got there and they said they were out? :confused3 How do you run out??

Whenever I'm at the parks I see them, but have never tried them.
What exactly are they???

Dippin' Dots is an ice cream snack, invented by Southern Illinois University graduate Curt Jones in 1987. The confection is created by flash freezing ice cream mix in liquid nitrogen and also has more ice cream in it than conventional ice cream. The resulting small spheres of ice cream are stored at temperatures ranging from 20 to 70 degrees below zero Fahrenheit (from -29°C to -57°C). The marketing slogan is "Ice Cream of the Future".

WOW- I would have just said 'lots of small balls of ice cream'. lol. I'm not clever lol

I don't know if it was the flavour I chose but I actually found these pretty tasteless when we had them a year or so ago - I had the mint choc ones. I'm a huge mint choc fan and these weren't that great at all. DH had the banana split, though, and he really liked it.

I enjoy this creative little snack! The oreo's cookies and cream is delish! My son loves the mint choc. They are very refreshing on a hot day.

Someone did their homework:surfweb:

I have looked them up and knew that stuff too. What I guess I want to know is....do they feel like ice cream in your mouth? Do they actually melt or are they just hard little spheres?

They melt slowly. They are frozen really hard!!!

I would buy them at about noon on my way out of Universal and they would be melted by the time I got to the car- thats Florida in the summer for ya!

Ah I love Dippin Dots, they are so fun to eat! glad to hear Universal has them. Make sure however you realize that the amount you are getting can be decieving. I ordered a medium size once and couldn't finish it. It doesn't look like alot but it's alot.

the big attraction is that they don't melt as quickly as regular ice cream...much different to eat though.

I like them but I don't crave them

DS5 was thrilled to find Dippin' Dots when we were at IOA. There was a stand in Toon Lagoon... near the Popeye water ride.

I personally find them odd. They eventually become ice cream after sitting on your tongue for a few moments, but not right away. For the first few seconds, you just have these tiny snowballs rolling around your mouth.

When I eat them, for some reason, I usually get a mental flash of that scene in A Christmas Story where the kid sticks his tongue to the flagpole. :confused3

Just figured I would point out that you must use a plastic spoon to eat them. If you use a metal spoon you will really be thinking of that scene...
