Have any DISers done both of these? I know that the ride vehicles are basically the same. I've never done Dinosaur, but I felt that Indy Jones was too jerky and too fast- just as you looked at one cool thing, you were suddenly jerked in the opposite direction, to see something else for a fraction of a second. It's like the whole ride had ADD! Is Dinosaur like that?

I like Dinosaur much better. It seems there's more detail and more to see. Of course, it could be that I didn't like Indy as well because it broke down twice while I was on it and it kinda lost its momentum. It was like, ok go really fast and things are coming at you then nothing - sit in the dark for a minute - then start up again. I was disappointed but like I said, maybe it was just a one-time thing. :confused3

DD18 and I both find Dinosaur to be very jerky with not that much to look at (a LOT of time is spent in the dark compared to Indy). We've been riding Dinosaur since it was Countdown to Extinction (a better name in our opinion). This past summer was our first chance to ride Indy... for us, Indy wins hands down.

If you didn't like Indy, you'll hate Dinosaur. Dark, loud, jerky, hardly anything to see. Indy is much better as far as ride experience, even if you didn't like the motion.

I'll be able to answer your question in about eight weeks. I have ridden Indy at DLR many times and will be riding Dinosaur soon.

I can say about Indy that it grew on me. I did not like it at first, and could not figure out why everyone liked it so much. It was jerky and you moved too quickly thru some things. So my first impressions of Indy agreed with yours above.

How many times have you ridden Indy? After maybe my third or fourth time I started to really like it. Now it is one of my top three favorites at DLR.

Better name, but Countdown to Extinction didn't have a movie associated with it.

BTW, did anyone actually watch the movie "Dinosaur"?

I went on the Indy ride in 1999 and loved it. Hands down, the best ride I've ever been on. Rode it four times
A year later I was at WDW and rode Countdown To Extinction. What a bore.

I was at AK a month after it opened in '98, when it was called COuntdown to Extinction, and the same movie was shown then as it is now.

As far as Indy vs. Dinosaur, Indy wins hands down.

Yes.
I even own the DVD and I like it a lot.

"Countdown to Extinction" was always a "temporary" name.
This attraction was designed and built as the movie was being created.

DAK opened before the movie "Dinosaur" was released.
Not wanting to "tip-off the competition" Disney used a "working name" for this attraction in its early days.

After the movie opened, the name of the DAK attraction was changed to match it.

Yes, the movie has scenes and characters (dino's) that are reflected in the ride.
This was always the original intent.

As to Indy vs. Dinosaur...

I like Dinosaur, the attraction, but compared to its California "cousin" ...

The QUEUE at Indy is simply the best-themed interactive and creative venue that has been created for waiting for an attraction.

It is amazing on its own.

The Indy ride (like Tower of Terror) is "never the same ride twice."
So if you ride it once, the scenes and other "happenings" may or may not ever be revealed to you in the same way when you ride again.

Indy in DL is a MASTERPIECE!

No, there is an animated Disney full-length motion picture (shown in theaters in the year 2000) called, "Dinosaur".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0130623/

The DAK attraction is based on this movie.

Hands down Indy is my favorite. If you can rise Indy you can ride dinosaur. They are both very jery and loud but Indy had muc better visual effects IMHO.

I think Indiana Jones in DL is much better than dinosaur. There is so much more theming before you even get to the ride and the experience on the ride is much better at DL.

I have also ridden both and would say that hands down, Indy is a better ride. I am 28 years old and the only ride I got even a little bit scared on in all of Orlando on our trip was Dinosaur! There is more to look at and it is brighter on Indy.

Indy is sooo much better. If you think Indy is Jerky, Dinosaur is even jerkier in my opinion. And I find the Lighting in Dinosaur very annoying with all the bright flashes.
