I can't remember, cause I usually have my eyes & ears closed the whole time, but are there any drops on Dinosaur... Even small ones???

There is an area at the end where it goes down a hill but it's not so much a "drop" as much as it is the jeep going down a hill.

I call it more of a little dip bump type thing. If that makes any sense at all to you. Ha :)

I agree, it really just feels like you're driving in a non-paved zone :)

MY question about this ride... is it too scary/intense for an almost 5 year old who LOVES dinosaurs. He understands the concept of real/make believe but thinking it might be too loud or dark. I've never been on it, but seems like it's a no-no in the guide books, isn't it?!

Well the ride is great. However, it is VERY, and I mean VERY loud. Earplugs may not be a bad option. I have more sensitive hearing and honestly, without earplugs I am in pain in parts of the ride.

The ride is VERY rough at parts (glasses can come right off of your face)(think driving in your car on a road at 15 mph with nothing but pot-holes and just not stopping).

I dont know if he'd get scared or not. Depends on the child.

My husband went on it last Spring for the first time and absolutely loved it, but he also said it was very loud, very dark at times and very scary. He said he wouldn't take our son on it until he was 7 or so.

I would say it is WAYY to intense for 5 and under:)

I know I am not normal but when my 6yr old was 4 she went on Dino and loved it !!! She has been going on for 2 yrs and always loves it!!! Now my 8 yr old has been on it and is not thrilled with it, I always tell her at least she tried (although I do think it is intense). My now 4yr old was too afraid to try, maybe next time!

My Ds went on Dino when he was 5 and LOVEd it. he goes on it everytime we are there - more than once too. I on the other hand refuse to ride it even one more time !!

OK - now I'm confused.... 5 year olds that don't mind it and adults that cover their eyes!! What exactly IS this ride anyway? I see it on the planning DVD and it looks like an old-fashioned haunted house type ride with Dinosaurs jumping at you instead of monsters. Is it fast, or whip you around... is it just the surprise of things jumping at you that gets you??

i would like to know more now also. We avoided this ride in 2003 as I thought it was more a rollercoaster thing and my kids were not into them. Now my curiosity is piqued.

OK you are sitting in a "jeep" type vehicle. It stops and goes at different points. Fast, then slow, then really fast, absolutely BUMPY, LOUD, and dark. I went on in 03 and these 2 kids were behind us, 2 little girls, and at the end when the picture came out, us three were all scared and covering our eyes and ears, while these 2 little girls were just sitting there watching. I have been looking for the picture that we bought after the ride, it's hilarious, but I can't find it! Oh, wanna know more, go to www.intercot.com click on animal kingdom then dinosaur. You can view the ride (yes someone actually took their video camera on!) Crazy!

Ok, first of all, don't rely on your planning DVD to decide what to ride. Disney purposely takes rides with little thrill and adds 500% to them, while they take rides with huge thrill and try to make them look "not so bad". I LOVE DINOSAUR, and while I think some kids go on it just fine, I think it's a bit much for younger children. Something you may encounter is, if you get them on it, and they are scared to death, then they may never ride other things that are less intense out of fear they may end up in a situation like they were on Dinosaur.

No, Dinosaur is not a old-fashioned haunted type ride. You are WHIPPED and JERKED around to an extent some would call borderline violently. I can handle it now better than my first time because I know what to expect. However, on your first time you dont know what to expect and it seems nearly violent.

The audio is so loud that it really is damaging. Though you dont stay in it for very long the audio is so loud it hurts me, and I worked as a concert stage hand for 3 years.

Basically you are sent back in time to the dinosaur era and are going through a rainforest in a jeep on a trail and dinosaurs are after you. There's more to the story but in your case the story is irrelevent.

Look at things like this.............some that put their children on it, already know their child's tolerance.

You don't know yours yet with this, so it is my suggestion not to put them on it. If you put your child on it and they panic big time, which some do, they are going to ruin it for everyone else on the jeep as well (12 people to a jeep).

While I hope not to get flamed, and while I know some children are fine with it, I just dont think i's fine for young children in general. Not at all. My wife rode it once and refuses to ever ride it again.

The whole Dinosaur experience differs widely from person to person. Use your own good judgement. Our son liked Dinosaur but was scared to death of It's tought to be a bug. So . . . it really depends. There is alot that could scare a little kid, or adult.
Me, personally, I hated the ride, I thought it was boring and overated. :shrug

indeed this ride is LOUD! I dont cover my eyes while riding it, I cover my ears :rotfl:

My husband and I just came back two weeks ago. The Dinosaur ride is very very loud. It may be too much for kids under 5! Myself and DH both had our ears covered and eyes at times during the ride.

We went this past June. This was one of my favorite rides. It was VERY intense. My two daughters (6 and 7) were way scared on this ride and refused to ride again with DH even though we had child swap tickets. They rode TOT and RRC no problem yet this scared them big time. We did not buy the picture at the end but I wished we had. I was laughing in the picture, and they are just sitting there with wide open mouths and eyes. Too cute!
My seven year old said she was most scared by the countdown going on in the background letting you know when the meteor is going to hit. HTH.

Dinosaur is like the only reason why I go to Animal Kingdom!
Well I like the safari too, but....

Embarassingly so, Dinosaur scares the living daylights out of me. I'll ride any coaster, but these darn dinosaurs... :earseek:
