I didn't see a discussion on this and will be visiting next week. We made reservations for Carthay Circle dinner and WOC preferred viewing area (we've done this before a few years ago) and the Blue Bayou plus reserved viewing for the Electrical Parade.

Has anyone done these recently? Where is the special parade viewing area?

We don't mind paying a little more to avoid the hassle and both of these are a must see for us.

I actually prefer the Dessert Party now for WOC...you get food and a chair to sit in. I will gladly pay for that privilege from now on. I love the food at Carthay though, just not the standing for the show (especially at the end of a LONG day).

I've done the BB for Fantasmic, Paint the Night, and the Halloween Party, and enjoyed it. I feel if you are going to eat at BB it's just an extra perk. I am doing the MSEP meal at the end of the month.

The MSEP reserved area for blue bayou is at the very end of Main Street at the flagpole, infront of the train station.

Great tip. Thanks! I found the thread on it and I just finished making reservations. I cancelled my Carthay Circle WOC dinner and changed it to the WOC Desert Party. This is getting exciting!

The WOC dessert party really is a special experience. I've done the Carthay WOC dinner as well, and I'm happy for you that you switched to the dessert party. Great move.

We did the BB Electrical parade dinner a couple weeks ago. How you assess that one really depends on how practical you are. The dinner was goodish and the viewing by the train station is excellent, but it is expensive and you are standing up unless you get there early to get a curb seat. My husband kept looking around and I knew he was thinking, wow, we paid a lot to be here when there are plenty of spaces available elsewhere to see the parade. I wouldn't talk him into it again. But I'd do it again with my daughter!

I think you will really enjoy it! I've done the standing at the rail thing, and I find, having a nice dessert, a nice cocktail, and sitting, so much more relaxing!

Do you think that the WOC dessert party is good for kids? Or would you recommend a WOC dinner reservation instead? I can't decide! :)

We did it with our 11 year old and even though we had seen WoC 3 times before, we all still felt it was worth it.

The only thing about doing the Dessert Party with kids is that many kids won't like most of the food. Mine pretty much ate the grapes and not much else. Even the desserts were not hits with them. They are very "adult" unless they've changed them in the past six months. In spite of this, the Dessert Party is the one thing my kids *really* want to do again this year. They said it was "magical!" (They were 12 and 16 last year.) Consider having them eat ahead of time if you have picky eaters. More for you. :) And they will box up leftovers.

Thanks for all the feedback. We had a small change in plans and our daughter and grand daughter will be coming from NorCal to join us. We called Disney and were able to expand our party at POTC with MSEP viewing but we could not add any to the Desert party. We're keeping it anyway.

My 8yo daughter loved the dessert party last year and we plan to do it again in August when we go!! She didn't love all of the desserts but ate enough that she was full and the light up cup was a big hit!

We had two kids - 7 and 8 - with us this past Saturday for the Dessert Party and they LOVED everything about it from the cup to the presentation of the food. And the show itself, of course. I'd totally do it again, even though it IS quite a splurge.

We did the WOC Carthay Circle dinner package, enjoyed the food quite a bit, and had a great spot for the show without waiting. (We showed up maybe 20 minutes before the show.) We did not do the dessert party because DH doesn't care for desserts and I am gluten free and the GF selections do not look good to me (I want dessert, not fruit.) The dinner package was great for us!

We are locals and I've been wanting to see the MSEP before it leaves again because it reminds me of my childhood. However, my kids never want to give up ride time to see parades! Ugh So my fiancé and I are going to see it just the two of us in May and I booked the BB package that includes the preferred viewing area. How many people are they squeezing into this viewing area? I know it may not be curbside if we don't get there early but are we going to be crammed and possibly not be able to see clearly? If I'm paying extra, I want it to at least be comfortable!

We were in the fifth or sixth row in the AO viewing area, and, with everyone in front of us remaining seated, we were able to see just fine. Standing people would have been an issue, but, from what we saw of the crowds everywhere, nobody was standing anywhere except, maybe, the back rows.
