We go in May for 4 nights...

We are staying at Saratoga for the first time - not by choice, but that's all there was when we booked.

I've read lots of the pros & cons about Saratoga. However, I've not seen much about the restaurants there.

How is their Table Service place??? Worth it?? We arrive on Mother's Day and with so many places booked for dinner, I thought it might be nice to just stay at the resort for dinner - then maybe head over to DTD.

Thanks!

Do hope you turn out to enjoy SSR as much we do...we absolutely love it there.

The TS restaurant is the Turf Club, which we enjoy a lot. It's got the "limited menu" that seems so prevalent these days...steak, pasta, salmon, a veggie dish, chicken, ribs...wonderful potatoes & veggies, and a terrific chocolate raspberry shake! Chocolate "lava" cake, cheesecake, creme brulee, apple tart and ice cream desserts -- shrimp, chicken, cheese, salads etc type appetizers--

We thought the food was very good...one night we had pretty slow service, but the CMs tried really hard to make it right when we complained...by me, when they make a mistake and move heaven & earth to make it right, that's all one can expect. The other nights we ate there the service was very good.

It has a lovely outdoor deck if the weather allows for outside dining...and the dining room itself is one of the nicer ones...dark & wood-y, but tables not too close together and (relatively) quiet...

IN short, we liked it enough that we ate 3 times there on one 7-night trip...I'd go again in a heartbeat.

Typically resort restaurants like Turf Club are less crowded/booked than the Epcot eateries or the "more famous" resort restaurants...but for mother's day I'd still book "immediately" if you can...it's very easy to cancel if you find something else you'd prefer (and can get in) once you're on site, and I would think that on Mother's Day reservations might be hard to come by, even at the Turf Club!

Good luck and I do hope your "no choice" reservation at SSR turns out to be a stroke of great good luck because you wind up loving it as much as we do!

Turf Club and Maya Grill are the two Disney restaurants that pleasantly surprised me by being much better than I anticipated. I thought the steak @ Turf Club was just as good as the steak we had earlier in the week at Le Cellier - and the atmosphere was 10,000X better - spacious, relaxed and quiet instead of cramped, rushed and loud.

Thanks for your input.
The more I've been reading about Saratoga, the more I think we are going to like it there.
We are just so accustomed to staying over at the BCV or BWV - mostly love the convenience to Epcot.

Anyway, we're excited to try something different. And, I plan to book the Turf Club for dinner one night.

That's the spirit. Go and try the resort. It's fun to stay at different resorts once and a while. We are staying there for the first time in July and I can't wait. We are also going to try the Turf Club Bar and Grill for the first time.

Enjoy your trip.:goodvibes

I stayed at Saratoga Springs in February. Ate at Turf Club twice. The mussels and the salmon salad were excellent. We had good service there. I believe our waitress was Emily. The resort is quite large and very pretty. The walk to Downtown Disney is nice along the water. Naturally I had to try out the spa which I thoroughly enjoyed as well! We usually stay at BCV also, but Saratoga Springs was a nice change. Enjoy!

Another one here who really likes the Turf Club! The mussels and salmon are my favs too.

We ate at the Turf Club the last few times in SSR, we really liked it. I had a cheeseburger there last time and it was really good!!!
Rudi was our waiter the last 2x..hes awesome and we had a good time with him...think about the movie Rudy where they chant Rudy,Rudy...yeah we did that everytime he brought us out food and drinks...he was laughing so hard and then the other workers were doing it...it was a good time.

. . . However, I've not seen much about the restaurants there . . .

1) That is because they don't have much.
. . . they have a food court
. . . they have a small restaurant with mainly over-priced comfort food
2) There has been lots of grumbling about the lack of food service at SSR.
3) There are plans for another eatery.

therustysapper, you you know what type of eatery they are adding to SSR and when??

SSR seems to have a limited dinner menu, mostly stuff my wife won't eat. I sure didn't see what I would consider comfort food. No meat loaf or mashed potatoes and arugala sure doesn't qualify. Overpriced too, 12 bucks for a burger?

Do they take the DDP?

Yes, they take DDP, and we thought the food was very good. Much better quality than at some of the sit downs on the DDP.

Thanks for the info, we planned on using the DDP when we go in August.

I'll eat most anything but my wife is pretty picky.

Love SSR...I have always been fortunate enough to get a veiw of DTD and it is beautiful to look at and go to sleep to. Its all the joy of disney without any of the hassel, I hope you hav a super fab Mothers day.:goodvibes

You'll "survive it"...and proably like it! :)

A bad meal in Disney is like a buffet for a king! ;)

We liked the Turf Club, too, when we tried it at Christmas. I didn't see any "comfort food", either, unless you are counting fish, steak, hamburgers, and chicken. If so, you came from a more "comforting" home than I did!;) The only "comforting" part of the menu that I noticed is that they didn't have anything with chickpeas smeared on it. I'm still not convinced that chickpeas are actually edible.:confused3
