At this point, we will probably not hit a park on our first day. So can you recommend a fun place to eat on a Saturday night not in a park? We are willing to travel to any resort or DTD.

P/S Boma is already booked for later in the week.

TIA!

usually hit the parks the first night either - mainly due to our later arrival time. We hit DTD which is an easy ride from POFQ. It gives a sense of Disney on that first non-park night.

The last three trips we have gone to RFC and T-Rex since our kids are young. They provide an entertaining atmosphere for them. The foods just okay. Before the kids (and soon returning) we did House of Blues. Better food and an entertaining atmosphere.

Now none of those take the DDP. I would probably go with Raglan Road with kids or Wolfgang Puck without if you are on the DDP.

Fun....Chef Mickey's at Contemporary or GF has a Cinderella and Step Sisters dinner your DD might like. 'OHana- no characters but games for the little ones. WC at WL was fun.

We're trying TRex at Downtown Dis for the first time this trip. DS3 is into dinos.

Any of the shows? Hoop De Doo, Poly Luau or Mickey's Backyard BBQ?

Thanks for the ideas so far. I'm a little concerned about DTD because it'll be a Saturday. But I do want to try T-Rex for DD. And we enjoyed Raglan Road last trip. What about Paradiso 37? Any experience there?

Good idea about the GF Princess dinner. I may look into that one. Then we could watch wishes from the Poly beach.

I love 'Ohana for a first night dinner. Great food and atmosphere. My boys loved the games and the dessert was incredible. Of course, there's the Lapu Lapu as well, can't wait for another one of those!

How cruel of you...can't you see there will be no boozing for me this trip!?! :rotfl:

Wishes is at 10pm so watching it is not going to happen. But may still try and work out a dinner over on the monorail line. Thanks!

We arrive on Saturday and I booked Chef Mickey's -I know if might not be the best food, but we get to see the Fab 5 our first night and see "the Disney Castle" (that's what my boys call Cinderella's Castle) on the first night and get us in the mood for the week!

Have a great vacation!

Ohana or Whispering Canyon. You can't go wrong with either of those two. Plus you can enjoy walking around both of the resorts before and after dinner.

For fun and food I would say 'Ohana. For just food I would recommend Wolfgang Puck Cafe since you have already done Raglan Road. Cape May Cafe is also good.

I have Raglan Road scheduled for my arrival day, which is a Friday. I realize DTD will probably will be very busy, but I like to visit there upon arrival. It isn't a park but it does remind me I'm at Disney :) Now I'm not worried about entertaining a child so RR might not be the best. I guess it depends on how much they would like Irish dance and music. As others have mentioned there are a number of other options that might be more enjoyable for a child.

I've done 'Ohana Breakfast and highly recommend for BREAKFAST...

and I've done Cape May (4 times)...wouldn't do Cape May again unless I was staying at BC and just had to have a dinner ressie.

so my vote is for Chef Mickey's for the reason PP stated above (View of Castle and "Fab 5")

vettechick - I feel like you are a new friend b/c we are cross posting on so many threads!

Have a magical visit !

Traditionally, we go to Chef Mickey's the first night. With the characters, it would definitely be fun for the young kids. 'Ohana is also in a resort and have games for the kids.

My wife and I love Raglan Road, but I'm not sure how your kids would react to that atmosphere, especially if you go when the band is playing. But then you said you wanted to avoid DTD...
